CHAPTER 35: CHAPTER 35: AXEL YATES’S SECRET

Discussing one’s boss behind their back is strictly forbidden in the company, but Sienna Quinn, being new to the headquarters, doesn’t have much reputation yet. Although Axel Yates supports her unconditionally, she needs to make a name for herself. Upsetting these people right after joining the company is not a wise choice.

The woman’s mind was racing, which sent a chill down Danielle Carter’s spine.

Is this...is this the Sienna I know? How do I suddenly feel like I’m meeting a new person?

Sienna Quinn sneered. She’s not someone who forgives easily. Despite it being her first day interacting with headquarters staff, her impression of them is not favorable.

Indeed, these people haven’t devoted all their energy to work; they even have time for gossip here.

But Sienna is not angry. Doubters have always existed, but she will use results to shut these people up.

Due to her injury, Sienna handed a few simple drafts to Danielle to handle, while she leaned back in the swivel chair, her eyes roaming around.

"Vera Yates, truly knows no bounds."

Returning this time, she clearly saw the face hiding under Vera Yates’ mask. She had never noticed before that she was deceived by her all along.

This reincarnation is not going to allow some things to go unchecked again.

Landon Lawson supported Vera Yates to the underground parking lot, footsteps sounded behind them, and turning his head, he saw Nolan Shaw running towards them.

Vera Yates frowned slightly, looking at the approaching Nolan reproachfully.

Nolan approached and immediately noticed Vera leaning against Landon’s chest, his eyes flickering but he didn’t speak.

Landon turned his head with a detached gaze and said to Nolan, "Is everything arranged?"

"Everything is arranged."

The man nodded lightly and tossed the injured car key to Nolan, "Take Vera to the hospital to check her knee; I still have things to do, so I’ll head out first."

Saying that, he walked away without looking back.

"Stephen!"

Vera was anxious, having been injured herself, she originally thought Landon would personally take her to the hospital, but unexpectedly he let Nolan do it, and all her plans fell through.

Landon didn’t turn back, his tall figure walking further and further away, leaving Vera fuming, her chest heaving, and her face turning unsightly.

Nolan stood by, observing Vera’s expression carefully, sensing a slight change, he cautiously said, "Miss Vance, I’ll take you to the hospital now."

Vera, who was resentful a moment ago, instantly returned to her usual gentle and charming self upon hearing Nolan’s voice, nodding in Nolan’s direction, her eyes fluctuating as she spoke, "When will Stephen come to see me?"

"President Lawson...will visit Miss Vance after he finishes his work."

How could Nolan not understand Vera’s intentions? In the five years since Sienna left, Vera has almost taken her place, and even the outside world doesn’t know much about Sienna being Landon’s legal wife, thinking she is the legitimate girlfriend.

A hint of disappointment flashed in Vera’s eyes, though barely noticeable, Nolan caught it.

Vera sat in the back, carefully recalling Sienna’s recent phone call, where she distinctly mentioned a child named Chloe.

Seeing how keen Sienna was, this child must hold great significance for her, but what kind of relationship do the two have?

Her beautiful and charming eyes gradually narrowed to slits, "Sienna, what else are you hiding from us?"

A tall man in a white suit stood in front of a tombstone, holding a bouquet of flowers.

It read, father of Axel Yates, and mother.

"Mom and Dad, I came to visit you today. Your son is really useless; it’s been so long, and he still doesn’t know who was responsible for your deaths back then." Axel Yates’ smile was somber, with a hint of self-mockery, as he placed the flowers at the tombstone. After sending Sienna back to the company, he came alone to the grave.

He gently squatted down, leaning his upper body on the tombstone, gently touching his parents’ photos.

Originally, Axel was also a member of a joyful family of three, but that accident left him without parents. He absolutely doesn’t believe that the accident was merely an accident, and has never given up on finding out the truth over these years.

After chatting with his parents in the graveyard for half an hour, he left, reverting back to his usual gentle, elegant self.

Driving back to the company, he unexpectedly saw a familiar figure, his pupils brightening, as he walked toward it with a smile.

"Sienna, working so diligently; if I don’t promote and give you a raise, I’d feel embarrassed."

He originally thought Sienna had gone home, but who would have guessed she not only didn’t go back but returned to the company to continue working.

The woman helplessly raised her bandaged arm, saying helplessly, "I can’t help it; I’m not the boss. Besides, I seem to have no chance of a promotion; if promoted again, you’ll have to give up your position."

"If you like it, take it." Axel laughed along with her, their camaraderie drawing attention, albeit misunderstood by some passersby.

Chloe Langley raised a pretty eyebrow at Scott, looking gossip-faced, clearly saying, "I told you there’s something between them, yet you didn’t believe me."

Scott gazed at Sienna more, originally thinking this woman succeeded based on her own true talent, but seeing this, it was nothing special.

Unaware of these people’s thoughts, Sienna carried on.

"Everything at work is settled, so shouldn’t I report to that man? If you don’t go home and rest, I’ll get skinned alive by him." Axel’s face brimmed with helplessness.

Sienna burst into laughter, Felix Orwell indeed cared for her the most, even from a foreign country, worrying over her affairs.

These five years turned Sienna from a timid, indecisive woman into a strong, sharp businesswoman, capable of enduring pain silently, all the while smiling unaffected.

But even though Sienna made herself stronger, Chloe remains the softest part of her, her weak spot.

Sienna asked Axel to drive directly to Chloe’s kindergarten.

At that moment, Chloe sat in the classroom’s corner, frowning slightly, watching the kindergarten teacher change the wet pants of another child.

"So big and still wetting pants." Evan Quinn said in a little adult tone, helpless and disdainful.

On the other side, Teacher Cole, tending to the child, shook his head with the same helplessness upon hearing Evan’s words, thinking this little guy certainly doesn’t act like a child.
