CHAPTER 36: CHAPTER 36: EVAN QUINN: I WON’T BE MISTAKEN!

Sienna Quinn stood at the door and waved at Teacher Cole with a smile, "Hello, Teacher Cole."

"Mommy!" Evan Quinn was the first to spot Sienna, opened his small arms, and ran over with a bounce, diving into Sienna’s embrace.

Sienna smiled and ruffled Evan’s hair, "So, did you cause any trouble for the teacher today?"

"I’ve been very well behaved, okay?" Evan pouted.

Teacher Cole also walked over and asked with a smile, "Evan’s mom, you’re here, is there something you need?"

"I wanted to pick up Chloe early today, is that alright?" Sienna asked politely.

Teacher Cole nodded with a smile, "No problem." Then to Evan, "Evan, go grab your backpack and head home with your mom."

As Evan went to get his backpack, Sienna asked Teacher Cole, "Teacher Cole, has Evan been good in kindergarten? He hasn’t caused any trouble, right?"

"Not only has Evan not caused any trouble, but he also helps the teachers manage and organize other kids, and he even talks to us about nutritional balance. He is very smart and considerate. If you look at only what he does, he doesn’t seem like a child at all," Teacher Cole complimented kindly.

Initially, when Sienna realized Evan was smarter than other kids his age, she felt very proud as a mom, but as Evan grew and interacted with more people and things, his prodigious nature sometimes left Sienna feeling a bit helpless.

"Chloe is indeed more... mature than other kids, I hope Teacher Cole can bear with him a bit more." Sienna said with a hint of apology.

"No need to worry, Evan’s mom. Whether kids like Evan or others, we teachers give our utmost care. Evan’s mom, rest assured." Teacher Cole said with a smile.

As they spoke, Evan had already put on his coat by himself, slung on his backpack, and put on his shoes, even tying the shoelaces neatly on his own.

Though many five-year-olds dress and put on shoes by themselves, it’s the first time Teacher Cole saw one who could tie shoelaces so neatly.

"Evan is so smart and capable, he truly is a good boy," Teacher Cole praised with a smile.

"Because I’m already an adult, adult matters should be done by me," Evan said, bowing slightly to Teacher Cole, "Goodbye, Teacher."

"See you tomorrow, Chloe," Teacher Cole said with a smile, waving at Evan, who raised his chubby little hand, waved at the teacher, and after saying goodbye to all the female teachers, he walked out with Sienna.

"Uncle Yates." As soon as they stepped out, Evan waved towards the direction of the gate.

Sienna looked and saw Axel Yates standing by the car, not having left yet.

Moving closer, Sienna asked, "Why hasn’t President Yates left yet?"

Axel Yates said, "I originally wanted to personally take you home, but something came up that needs handling, so I asked Assistant Carter to come over in your car. She should be here in five minutes."

Sienna nodded with a smile, "Thank you, President Yates."

"No need for thanks between us," Axel Yates said, reaching out to ruffle Evan’s smooth hair, "How’s Chloe finding the kindergarten here?"

With the demeanor of a little adult, Evan shrugged and said helplessly, "It’s just kindergarten, it’s the same everywhere. A bunch of kids who only know how to cry, and I learned what they teach there a long time ago. It just feels like a waste of youth being there."

Hearing the words "waste of youth," Axel Yates couldn’t help but laugh, "You’re just a little thing, what do you know about youth."

"Of course I know, and even though I’m small, I’m already a mature adult. Please don’t judge me by the standards of a child, Uncle Yates," Evan pouted unhappily.

Sienna playfully scolded, "How can you talk like that to Uncle Yates?"

Evan, however, immediately nodded slightly to Axel Yates, "If I’ve spoken out of turn, please forgive me, Uncle Yates."

Sienna sighed helplessly.

Axel Yates smiled more broadly, ruffling Evan’s hair affectionately, "Evan, you little rascal."

Evan’s sweet little face broke into a bright smile.

Because of an arm injury, Axel Yates handed the car keys to Danielle Carter, asking her to drive Sienna and Evan back home, and repeatedly reminded her to take good care of them. Conveniently, Danielle’s commute was on the same route as theirs.

As soon as Chloe got in the car, Sienna instinctively hid her injured arm behind her, afraid he would see it and start scolding her again.

"President Quinn, are you alright, I..."

Lily Carter began speaking but Sienna frowned and shook her head slightly.

But it was too late, Evan looked up in confusion at Sienna and asked, "Mom, what happened?"

"Of course nothing, how was your first day at kindergarten? Did you get along well with the teachers and the other kids?" Sienna changed the subject, using her uninjured hand to ruffle Chloe’s bangs, which were adorably fluffy.

"It was alright, just watched the kids being coaxed by the teachers. They’re all a bunch of kids."

Sienna felt a bit helpless, you’re also just a little kid.

"Mommy, why have you been using your left hand to touch my head, you’re not left-handed."

His big round eyes looked directly at Sienna as if he could see right through her. From the moment he got in the car, Sienna had been using her left hand for everything, keeping her right hand behind her, which was odd.

Seeing through her at once, Sienna awkwardly coughed twice, "What are you talking about? You must be mistaken."

"I’m not mistaken!"

The tone left no room for refusal, making Sienna momentarily question if it was Landon Lawson beside her, as he domineeringly grabbed her arm,

quickly spotting the bandage on Sienna’s hand, his small brow furrowed slightly, full of reproach, "Mommy, I’ve only been away for one day and you’re already like this, how can I not worry?"

The childlike voice paired with mature and serious words was indeed a contrast.

But Sienna was used to seeing Evan with this small adult demeanor, her son matured earlier than others after all, and understood her struggles as a mother.

"This is just a minor accident, don’t worry." Sienna waved it off lightly, only to have Chloe frown and carefully place her hand aside.

"It’s nothing, mom just accidentally sprained her wrist today."

"How could you be so careless, is it serious? What did the doctor say? From now on, I won’t allow you to cook, I’ll cook for you."

Sienna felt a warmth in her heart, "Our Chloe really cares for mommy."

She pulled out the backpack placed next to her, "Here, this is what you wanted."

Evan opened it, and it was just the books he wanted, but without even a glance, he placed them beside him, still watching Sienna’s hand worriedly.
