I Have A Solo Mommy Plan, But Daddy Refuses to Let Go
Chapter 371: About to Go Bad
CHAPTER 371: CHAPTER 371: ABOUT TO GO BAD
Sienna Quinn smiled awkwardly, "Of course, you’re welcome. I just moved in, and many things are not yet organized. It’s quite messy here. Please don’t mind, Assistant Shaw!"
Nolan Shaw smirked and walked into Sienna Quinn’s room with big strides.
Sienna’s heart slowly calmed down. Nolan Shaw’s sudden visit seemed to have come with ill intentions.
After serving Nolan a cup of tea, Sienna sat to the side, looking at him with a bit of wariness, as if she was the uninvited guest.
"Haha, this place is quite nice. The sunlight is good, and the layout of the room is decent. Miss Quinn, you have great taste," Nolan said with a grin.
He was also conflicted inside because he had promised Vera Yates to help her, yet he didn’t expect her to ask him to persuade Sienna to accept Axel Yates’ proposal.
He found it difficult at that moment. How could an outsider like him be involved in such matters?
Moreover, the company’s president had always been deeply attached to Sienna, never forgetting her. If he really spoke out about this and the president found out, he could get kicked out of the Lawson Group.
Yet, he still dared to agree because he couldn’t bring himself to refuse Vera. He couldn’t then, and he can’t now.
Nolan didn’t know when he started liking Vera Yates. He only knew that when he first joined the company and wasn’t yet the boss’s personal assistant, he saw Vera visiting the boss, and he was mesmerized by her beauty then.
Over time, his love for her deepened. But now, it indeed seems like a bit of a pity.
In these years, Vera’s eyes only held the boss, doing all sorts of outrageous things.
Despite having such an exquisite appearance, the things she did were truly chilling.
Even so, Nolan couldn’t forget this woman in his heart.
Perhaps it was that first impression that he finds hard to forget for a lifetime.
In the past, Vera had actively sought Nolan, but at that time, Nolan thought Vera, with her power, influence, and beauty, would inevitably win the boss’s heart someday. But since Sienna returned, he realized Vera was out of chances.
Though he understood this, he didn’t dare to tell Vera, fearing she couldn’t handle it. After all, she had liked the boss for so many years.
So, when Vera came to Nolan for help today, he didn’t hesitate to agree.
Sienna noticed Nolan beating around the bush, not stating the purpose of his visit, and she didn’t know how to ask directly.
"Back at the company, Assistant Shaw took good care of me. I’ve always wanted to thank you but never had the chance. Now that you’re here, I want to sincerely thank you. I toast you with this tea instead of wine," Sienna said sincerely, making it even tougher for Nolan to speak.
Just a few days ago, he had scolded her in front of many people at the Orwell Group, yet Sienna bore no grudges.
As for why Nolan suddenly decided to help Vera, it wasn’t entirely for her; it was also for Landon Lawson. He couldn’t bear to see Landon neglecting the Lawson Group for this woman.
"Haha, Sienna, you don’t have to be like this. Back then, I took care of you because of the president..."
Nolan, having weathered many storms in the business world, couldn’t use his deep insights now. He followed Sienna’s words but accidentally hit a nerve.
Maintaining an awkward yet polite smile, he was about to back out when he suddenly heard a notification on his phone.
He lowered his head to retrieve his phone, taking this moment to ease the tense atmosphere.
"Nolan, after much thought, I’ve decided to come find you. I know you’re shy and find it hard to speak. It would be easier if the two of us talked together," read Vera’s message.
Nolan was alarmed and quickly replied, "Don’t come. I’m just about to head back. Let’s discuss this thoroughly once I’m back."
On the other end, seeing Nolan’s message made Vera smirk mockingly. She had planned for so long; how could she give up now?
Vera had already planned everything and was currently downstairs at Sienna’s new home. She smiled charmingly and swayed her perfect figure upstairs.
Sitting in Sienna’s home, Nolan was uneasy. He looked at the luggage piled around and said to Sienna, "It seems you’re quite busy. I really came at a bad time. How about I head back today, and we can chat another time?"
Sienna stood, ready to see Nolan out. "Alright, I am quite busy today. Thank you, Assistant Shaw, for taking the time to visit me."
Nolan gave an awkward smile, got up, and walked towards the door.
At that moment, there was a sharp knock on the door. Sienna, full of curiosity, rushed ahead to open it. Standing outside was Vera Yates.
"Miss Quinn, long time no see," Vera said with a seemingly harmless smile. Sienna had seen through such deceptive smiles too many times.
Miss Quinn smirked and coldly said, "Miss Vance, what a rare guest you are! What brings you here—to pick up Assistant Shaw?"
She wasn’t naive. Clearly, she had just moved here a few days ago, and not many people knew about the move. Yet, both Nolan and Vera had somehow found this place one after another.
Nolan’s claim of merely visiting her was hard to believe. How could someone who hadn’t deliberately investigated her whereabouts find this place?
Nolan’s visit undeniably had a connection to Landon Lawson, and she didn’t want to ask more nor cared to say more. She wished to avoid the murky waters involving Landon as much as possible.
Vera Yates smiled at Sienna and said, "Miss Quinn, I guess we haven’t seen each other in a long time. Today is a good day; shall we have a chat?"
Sienna, ignoring Nolan’s presence, coldly replied, "Can I refuse?"
Seeing Sienna’s blunt refusal made Vera deeply resent her, yet she had to maintain her composure to keep the conversation going.
"Miss Quinn, you love joking. You’re always such a hospitable person; I doubt you’d not let your guest inside," Vera said.
Nolan saw the two women in front of him were far from simple. They spoke in peaceful tones, yet the content made him uncomfortable. They indeed weren’t suited for a calm chat.
"Um, Vera, you see, Miss Quinn just moved. She still has things to organize. Let’s not disturb her today. I’ll treat next time, and we can talk then," Nolan said to Vera with a forced smile.
Vera gave him a dismissive glance, seemingly looking down on his incompetence.
"How can we hold back from sharing secrets among girls? I’m sure Sienna wouldn’t want me to leave mid-conversation," Vera said.
Sienna knew Vera had no good intentions towards her. The last time they met was outside Landon Lawson’s villa. Vera had wanted to chat then, but Sienna refused.
She hadn’t expected Vera to show up at her door this time.
