I Have A Solo Mommy Plan, But Daddy Refuses to Let Go
Chapter 396: The World of Adults
CHAPTER 396: CHAPTER 396: THE WORLD OF ADULTS
Evan Quinn and Felix Orwell sat in the restaurant, Felix specially ordered a glass of juice for Evan, looking at the little one in front of him with helplessness...
"Did you sneak out on your own?" Felix suddenly said to Evan.
Evan nodded gently, gave Felix a thumbs-up, and said with a smile, "You really do know me well."
Felix’s mouth twitched slightly and he said with some helplessness, "Do you know your mom will be really worried if you run out by yourself?"
"My mommy and daddy won’t be worried. If they were truly concerned, how could they let me suffer alone like this? They know I just want a complete family, to have both mom and dad, why can’t they fulfill such a simple wish for me?"
Felix was stunned for a moment, listening to Evan’s torrent of words, momentarily dumbfounded and speechless, unable to express his true thoughts.
Felix reached out a hand and gently ruffled Evan’s hair, possibly between the two adults’ conflicts, the real victim is actually this five-year-old child.
The little one, slightly dissatisfied, shook his head gently, giving Felix a reproachful look: "Don’t keep touching my hair; I’m not a little child anymore and shouldn’t be tousled like this."
Felix burst out laughing and tousled Evan’s hair even more.
"You little one, no matter how old you are, in our eyes, you’ll always be a child."
Evan puckered his lips in slight discontent, drinking the juice in his hands vigorously.
Suddenly, he looked up, his gaze unusually deep as he stared at Felix, a mature expression on such a young child making Felix pause, wondering how a child could exhibit such maturity.
His expression at odds with his age looked so peculiar on his face.
"Uncle Felix, how can we keep mommy and daddy from divorcing?"
Felix was taken aback, clearly not expecting Evan to ask such a question, feeling a sense of sympathy for him.
In Felix’s view, Evan’s request isn’t excessive at all; he’s just a child longing to reunite with his parents.
But Felix has no way of revealing the cruel truth to him. Whether it’s Landon or Claire, only he knows the secrets from both sides.
But this secret he has promised Landon to protect no matter what.
Felix sighed slightly, his tone carrying a hint of helplessness: "You’re still young and don’t understand the complicated matters between adults; when you grow up, you’ll know that many things are beyond one’s control, not something you can just do because you want to."
"Why? Daddy and mommy are so strong, there’s nothing that can stop them, and yet, even the things they want to do can’t succeed?"
Looking at Evan’s innocent expression, Felix gently shook his head: "Even the strongest people have things they can’t accomplish; time is filled with too much helplessness, we cannot achieve perfection."
The little one pursed his lips tightly, his eyes shimmering with unshed tears once again...
"Is there truly no chance for daddy and mommy anymore?"
"It’s not entirely impossible, maybe there’s still a chance for them."
"Really?"
Evan looked at Felix with innocent curiosity.
Felix nodded seriously: "As long as we believe in miracles, there’s always a possibility."
If this was before his conversation with Landon, he definitely wouldn’t agree with Landon and Claire being together, but after knowing Landon’s hardships, he realized how deeply this man loves Claire, willing to protect her even at the cost of separation, bearing all the dangers himself—a level of sacrifice Felix could never achieve.
Turns out Claire didn’t fall for the wrong person.
Felix had a slightly self-deprecating smile on his lips, wishing he could do something for Claire if he could.
But at this moment, he realized the immense gap between him and Landon.
After hearing Felix’s explanation, a faint smile finally emerged on the little one’s lips.
Suddenly clenching his small fist, he said: "In that case, I’ll choose to believe in my daddy."
"That’s right, you have to believe your dad can create any possibility."
Felix’s mouth curved slightly into a smile.
The little one shrugged indifferently, this time finally breaking into a smile, happily drinking his juice.
After finishing his juice, Felix then asked Evan: "Sneaking out alone, did you ever consider how worried your mommy would be?"
Evan gently shook his head, smiling: "Mommy doesn’t know about this; today she left me with daddy."
Felix’s mouth twitched slightly, tapping Evan’s forehead with a finger: "You little rascal, your mommy might not be scared, but you’ll frighten your daddy."
The little one playfully stuck out his tongue, pulling out his little phone, and dialed Landon’s number.
Meanwhile, Landon and Nolan Shaw had already turned the company upside down looking for Evan.
Seeing the incoming call, Landon finally relaxed and quickly hit the answer key: "Where are you now?"
"I’m out with Uncle Felix drinking milk tea; he’s about to take me back now."
"Next time you go somewhere, make sure to tell me first."
Landon’s voice sounded concerned, suppressing his fear, but Nolan beside him could clearly sense the change in his tone.
It seemed Landon feared Evan had been captured by that mysterious person.
If Evan really fell into the hands of the mysterious person, the consequences would be unimaginable for them.
The mysterious person was ruthless and cruel, without limits, even Landon feared him greatly...
"I understand, it won’t happen again next time." The little one admitted his mistake obediently.
After hanging up, Nolan looked at Landon with some concern: "Have you found Evan yet?"
"He’s with Felix, drinking juice now."
Hearing Landon’s words, Nolan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
