I Have A Solo Mommy Plan, But Daddy Refuses to Let Go
Chapter 48: Taking Back Everything Owed to Her
CHAPTER 48: CHAPTER 48: TAKING BACK EVERYTHING OWED TO HER
"Since I’ve chosen to return, I was prepared for being discovered by them. I just didn’t expect it to be this soon." A faint smile curled at the corner of her lips; everything owed to her must be reclaimed.
The possessions of her parents had been claimed by Tom Quinn’s family for far too many years.
With Sean Carter settled in, after all, he was Felix Orwell’s capable assistant whom the latter sent over from France with reluctance. Naturally, Sienna Quinn wanted to treat him well, so she spoke to Axel Yates and found him a manager position in one of the departments, temporarily keeping him there, and placed him in this HR Group project team.
With the rapid expansion of the internet, all news and secrets spread at lightning speed. In another corner of this city, at the largest hospital, a man passed a scalpel to the nurse beside him and wiped the sweat from his forehead lightly, the corner of his mouth curling up with satisfaction.
"Dr. Grant, the surgery was successful." The secretary next to him beamed as she spoke. It was a highly concentrated operation that lasted seven hours; even a slight mistake would have resulted in failure. However, Miles Grant single-handedly completed the surgery.
"Let the assistant handle the follow-up sutures." Saying this, he walked out of the operating room first, inhaling the air outside, a smile spreading across his lips.
At this moment, the news had not yet reached him, having been isolated from the world for those seven hours.
He removed his sterile surgical gown, changed into his clean clothes, had just taken a breath when his phone suddenly rang.
Looking at the caller ID on the screen, the corner of his mouth lifted, and his eyes were filled with deep affection.
"Vera, you called me just as I finished the surgery; it seems we’re truly connected. Are you calling to congratulate me?" Cedric Grant spoke with a cheerful smile.
"Sienna Quinn is back!" But waiting for him was not the expected congratulations.
"Sienna Quinn... What a name, so unfamiliar it almost makes one forget." Miles Grant muttered softly, his previously bright and sunny face darkening slightly at the mention of this name.
She was fortunate to have run away back then, otherwise, she’d become a soul claimed by his scalpel now. Sienna Quinn seemed to have a knack for premonition, escaping the traps meticulously set by Miles Grant and Vera Yates.
But if she left, she shouldn’t have come back. Why did she return? Was she planning to fall into the trap again?
Vera Yates watched the news on the screen. Her usual phone number had long been turned off. This method of appearing in front of the public was not something she enjoyed. Her delicate little fists clenched tightly.
"So what if she comes back? Her timid manner can be easily eliminated with some tricks." Although Sienna Quinn’s return surprised him, it wasn’t something he deemed worth worrying about.
However, Vera Yates didn’t share such a relaxed mood. After several confrontations, it was clear that Sienna Quinn was no longer the naive pushover she once was.
"Come to my place tonight."
"Alright."
Hanging up the phone, Miles Grant looked at the buzzing mobile, a faint bitter smile on his lips. As long as it was for Vera Yates, anything was worth it, even helping her snatch a man.
Originally planning to rest well after the surgery, Miles Grant hastened to Vera Yates’ residence at once.
At the newspaper office, gossiping netizens were fervently digging up new scoops.
Sienna Quinn’s identity was gradually uncovered, eventually known to everyone as Landon Lawson’s ex-wife.
The internet divided into two camps with differing opinions.
"What if she’s an ex-wife? Now Vera Yates is Landon Lawson’s girlfriend."
"Setting aside past matters, are those two being fair to Vera Yates?"
On the other side, there emerged a rebel army led by Danielle Carter and Nolan Shaw, both tapping swiftly at their keyboards.
"Landon Lawson never personally acknowledged any news about him and Vera Yates; he merely didn’t deny it. But Sienna Quinn did truly marry Landon Lawson, something Vera Yates cannot compare to."
"Sienna Quinn surpasses Vera Yates in looks and competence by several tiers. If I were a man, I’d choose a woman like her too."...
Nolan Shaw and Danielle Carter both leaned back in their chairs, breathing deeply, as debating with online trolls truly made one’s head ache.
Today before Nolan Shaw left work, Landon Lawson specifically assigned him some tasks, intending for him to become the leader of the online wife protection brigade. Yet Nolan Shaw looked at the unfamiliar account more active than him, "Crane," with genuine confusion. Could the president possibly have assigned someone else?
Night fell, darkness enveloping the city, yet the lit neon lights brightened up the entire night.
Sienna Quinn gave Evan Quinn a fragrant bath, gazing at the little boy’s rosy cheeks and gently planted a kiss on them.
"For these few days, let Danielle pick you up from school. Since I haven’t found a suitable nanny yet, my little darling has to endure this trouble."
Evan Quinn teasingly raised his eyebrows, "Piece of cake!"
Due to the online buzz, in the following days, Sienna Quinn was closely watched by paparazzi, every move under the public’s gaze, prompting her to protect Evan Quinn by avoiding picking him up from school herself.
Once captured by the paparazzi, Evan Quinn’s true identity could no longer be concealed.
At that point, not only would Evan Quinn be targeted by the media but also by those with deceitful intentions, for Sienna Quinn was her heart’s sacred ground, refusing to permit anyone to harm Evan Quinn.
Thus Danielle Carter undertook the task of escorting Evan Quinn.
Thanks to Sean Carter’s integration, HR Group’s project progressed smoothly. The initial plans submitted by Dominic Lowell, director of the design department, contained too many flaws, greatly improved by Sean Carter’s suggestions, which also controlled the rumors surrounding Sienna Quinn implanting her people.
"President Lawson... Where are you headed? It’ll rain outside soon, and Miss Vance has been waiting for your reply." Nolan Shaw watched Landon Lawson emerge from the office; each day around four, Landon Lawson would leave early, starkly contrasting his workaholic image.
"Tell her the statement won’t be issued."
"Alright... I’ll contact Miss Vance now." Nolan Shaw froze for a moment, not expecting Landon Lawson to refuse Vera Yates this time, as Landon had never denied Vera Yates’ requests before; though he wouldn’t agree, such a clear rejection as today was indeed the first time.
Could it be because of Sienna Quinn?
This bold guess surprised Nolan Shaw, causing him to cover his mouth in astonishment.
He gazed at Landon Lawson’s back, filled with shock.
Seated in the car, Landon Lawson’s early departures these days became a topic of speculation among company employees, which even Landon Lawson puzzled over himself.
