CHAPTER 52: CHAPTER 52: THE SCUMBAG’S EXCUSE—SHE’S JUST MY SISTER

"You knew everything?"

Seeing Evan Quinn’s calm demeanor, Landon Lawson was unexpectedly surprised. After a brief fluctuation in his gaze, he coughed lightly and returned to normal, wondering how he ended up in a dispute with a child.

"Saw it in the news." Evan rubbed his chubby little cheeks; he’d known about it for a while.

"Between me and the other men your mother is seeing, who is better?" As Landon asked the question, he turned away, avoiding looking at Evan. What was wrong with him? Whenever he heard that Sienna had other men, especially in front of Evan, he couldn’t help but compare himself to them. What was he lacking?

Evan seriously scrutinized Landon from top to bottom, becoming more astonished the longer he looked. This father of his was quite a handsome man, just a bit blind.

"Your eyesight is bad." Evan stated seriously.

Bad eyesight? Landon was momentarily stunned; Sienna had said the same thing.

They truly were mother and son, incredibly similar. If Evan really was his son, Landon would fight for custody; how could his son end up elsewhere? How could he have been raised by Sienna to be like this?

With fists clenched tightly, before Landon could say anything, footsteps sounded outside the door, accompanied by the butler’s trembling voice: "Mad... Madam."

Looking at the butler, Sienna’s body froze for a moment. The butler was one of the few kind people to her, having taken care of her throughout her year at the villa.

The only person in the villa who was truly sincere with her.

Sienna nodded to him; there were more important matters at hand now.

Landon looked up at the arriving woman, faster than he anticipated.

Upon seeing the newcomer, Evan immediately rushed into Sienna’s embrace, holding onto her neck and crying, his soft voice full of pain.

"Mommy, I got scared today. That small truck was charging at Danielle and me." The more Evan spoke, the more frightened he became, trembling as if he stood on shaky ground.

"You know you nearly scared me to death, fortunately you’re okay." Sienna hugged him closely, feeling the tangible touch of his small body, her nose lightly twitching in a sob, tears uncontrollably falling.

Evan was her sole solace, the only family she had.

"Why did you go off with strangers? What if you were kidnapped?" Sienna suddenly straightened Evan’s small body; if anything happened to him, she didn’t know how she’d cope.

Though she was reproaching him, the look in her eyes was filled with worry and relief at seeing him, prompting Evan to cling tightly to her shoulder, softly saying through his sobs, "Mommy, I won’t run off again."

Landon squinted while watching the reunion, his eyes becoming intense when Sienna mentioned strangers.

He... was a stranger.

Sienna held Evan tightly, thoroughly inspecting him before finally coming to peace.

She handed Evan to Sean Carter behind her, asking him to take Evan to the car outside; she had something to say to Landon alone.

Sean glanced at Landon with worry, "President Orwell specifically instructed that Landon is not a good person; can you really handle this alone?"

"There are things Chloe shouldn’t hear."

The matters between adults weren’t something Evan could handle.

Sean hesitated repeatedly, agreeing to give her a call if anything unusual happened, before finally leaving.

Sienna turned around, facing Landon with a grim expression, "Why did you take my son away?"

"Your son? Isn’t he my son too?"

Landon’s deep eyes resembled a black hole, threatening to swallow all light.

Sienna’s body trembled, knowing he had found out.

She laughed mockingly, scrutinizing Landon, "President Lawson, you’re somewhat self-deluding, thinking our fleeting encounter could yield results?"

He chuckled, seeing Evan’s face resembling his own, how could he not be his son?

"Why does he look so much like me?"

"In a world with millions of men, don’t they all have one nose and two eyes? You won’t randomly claim a son based on that, will you?"

Sienna paused, her teasing gaze swept over Landon, finally landing on his most private area, utterly unabashed.

Landon squinted, "What are you looking at?"

Truly audacious, under broad daylight, looking at a man’s private parts.

Sienna stifled a laugh, looking at Landon as if he were foolish, "You’re quite naive to think that one night would result in a pregnancy, right?"

The mocking gaze made Landon’s eyebrows tighten even more; was she questioning him? Had she forgotten what happened that night?

"We only had that once, but surely Miss Quinn hasn’t forgotten, we spent far more than a single night then."

That demon, bringing up that day, Sienna was reminded of it only in a haze.

Despite the single physical encounter, that one time was enough for Sienna to conceive Evan.

That night, Landon was relentless, taking her more than once, refusing to stop.

Landon stood by, observing Sienna’s expression change into one of scornful amusement.

"You can’t truly believe your fertility is so impressive; Evan is my son, he has nothing to do with you. Stop pinning hopes on it. If no child was swapped, I’m sure Actress Vance would gladly bear yours."

Vera Yates?

Landon’s eyebrows furrowed; was she still speaking so sourly?

"Sienna, she’s just my sister; don’t judge us with your dirty thoughts."

Sister?

Again with calling her sister, in the past they claimed as such, yet in the end, it was for this "sister" they took her kidneys.

"Typical tactics of a scumbag."

Sienna paused, pondering what Vera might feel upon hearing this.

"President Lawson, since your relationship with Miss Vance is so clean and pure, it’s better for you to announce it, proving you’re only siblings."

Vera’s feelings for Landon were blatant; regardless of his choice, Sienna would undoubtedly emerge victorious.

Vera frowned, her expression not looking good, prompting a cold chuckle from Sienna, "I knew it, when push comes to shove, President Lawson is softer than anyone else."

Having said that, she turned to leave, pausing after a few steps to look back at him, "By the way, President Lawson, though I haven’t learned too much abroad these years, I did pick up a bit on law; something like today’s matter could be suspected of child abduction."
