CHAPTER 59: CHAPTER 59: POACHING TALENT

In the evening, when Sienna Quinn returned home, she was slightly tipsy. As soon as she entered the door, she saw Evan Quinn sitting at home. Halfway through the night, she had asked Danielle Carter, who hadn’t been drinking, to pick Evan up from school.

When she got back, she found the small figure sitting on the sofa, watching a science documentary.

She walked over quietly and hugged Chloe from behind, the small face nestled willingly into Evan’s shoulder.

The milky scent from the little child made Sienna take a deep breath, thoroughly captivated.

"Mommy, why are you drinking again?" Evan Quinn furrowed his graceful brows.

"Because Mommy has to earn money to support the family, otherwise we’d be drinking the northwest wind." Sienna gently tapped Evan’s small nose, his delicate appearance utterly adorable.

Evan turned his head, trying to dodge Sienna’s hand. Sienna hesitated for a moment and then saw a complex look in Chloe’s eyes as he said, "Mommy, there’s a parent-teacher meeting next week."

"A parent-teacher meeting? Mommy will go. If I can’t make it, I’ll have Danielle attend for you."

Evan lowered his head and replied quietly, his unusual behavior unnoticed by the slightly drunk Sienna.

The next day, at Yates Group.

People were gathered in small groups, pointing at the computer screen, where the guest list for the upcoming interview session was prominently displayed.

"I thought Landon Lawson and our President Quinn were a pair, but it seems that’s not the case at all now."

"Maybe our President Quinn is the one being ditched."

When Sienna arrived in the morning, she noticed that the atmosphere around her was somewhat off. Her indifferent gaze swept around, and those who had been whispering all shut their mouths.

"President Quinn, HR Group just sent a message asking us to improve the plan. It will be the final cooperation plan, and they’ll make a new comparison."

Sienna nodded and asked Danielle to prepare for a meeting.

Upon entering the meeting room, Sienna did not see Dominic Lowell and asked in confusion, "Where is Dominic Lowell?"

"He’s not feeling well today and is on sick leave."

"Alright, let’s start the meeting then."

Meanwhile, in a hotel private room, Dominic Lowell sat with a tense posture, occasionally wiping the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief.

"Miss Vance, what exactly did you want to discuss with me this time?"

Vera Yates smiled softly, seeing through Dominic Lowell’s brash facade. She replied gently, "Manager Lowell, there’s no need to be so nervous. I just wanted to have a casual chat with you."

A chat? At this critical juncture, Dominic Lowell absolutely didn’t believe that Vera Yates had only invited him for a casual chat.

Everyone knows she’s Landon Lawson’s girlfriend. Now, the two companies are rivals competing for HR Group’s partnership.

"Miss Vance, you’re kidding again," Dominic Lowell wiped his forehead once more.

Vera Yates slid a business card across the table. "I’ve heard your daughter has always wanted to pursue acting. I have better resources for her. If you need them, feel free to call me anytime."

"Miss Vance, you are..." Dominic Lowell instantly understood what was happening and stood up in shock, wide-eyed.

Vera Yates softly chuckled, "No need to be so tense. I just wanted to form a friendship. I’ve heard Manager Lowell loves his daughter very much and has worked hard for her sake."

Dominic Lowell’s affection for his daughter was well-known, and his daughter was determined to be an actress, which worried him greatly.

If Vera Yates could really help his daughter, it would be immensely beneficial. After all, she was a popular star who had recently won a Best Actress award.

One was his daughter’s dream, and the other was the company’s interest, immediately placing him in a dilemma.

Vera Yates’s fingers lightly tapped on the table, her elegant and seductive hands creating a rhythmic sound that made Dominic Lowell even more anxious.

"Miss Vance, what do you want?"

"Manager Lowell, you’re quite straightforward. I have no other demands, just the company’s design proposal."

Dominic Lowell’s pupils contracted. The design proposal was confidential company information. If leaked, it would lead to inevitable defeat in the competition.

"This..."

"Actually, Manager Lowell, you don’t need to worry so much. Even if an internal investigation were to come up, no one would suspect you, a veteran employee. After all, there are others more likely to be suspected."

Vera Yates’s calm words left Dominic Lowell stunned. Someone even more suspicious than him—wasn’t that Sienna Quinn?

After much contemplation, the immediate benefit was just too tempting.

Vera Yates took out her phone, checking the time. "Manager Lowell, I don’t have much time. I have another recording session scheduled, and if you can’t agree, I’ll have to look for someone else. I believe my offer is not something anyone can refuse."

Vera Yates stood up, picked up the business card, nodded at Dominic Lowell, and began to walk away.

Watching her leave without a glance back, and with his daughter’s opportunity slipping away, Dominic Lowell gritted his teeth.

"Miss Vance!"

Hearing the man’s voice behind her, Vera Yates’s lips curled into a charming smile. No one could refuse her offer, no matter how many years they had worked at Yates Group.

Turning around slowly, "So, it seems Manager Lowell has decided."

...

Landon Lawson sat on the recording set, the host holding a question card beside him and carefully asking, "President Lawson, please let us know if there are any questions you’re uncomfortable answering."

Landon glanced at the questions; there was nothing concerning his relationship with Vera Yates.

The sound of high heels clicking on the floor resonated, and Vera Yates approached with a cheerful demeanor, unaffected by outside rumors.

"Stephen, you’re here!" Vera Yates naturally approached and linked her arm with Landon’s.

The intimate gesture left onlookers exchanging glances, shocked at their surprising closeness, contrary to widespread speculation.

The host walked over, reminding them, "Since this is live, we can’t do a retake."

"Don’t worry, I’m familiar with these recordings," Vera Yates smiled, her eyes filled with affection as she glanced at Landon beside her. He was as quiet as ever, present mainly for appearances, and most of the questions were directed at Vera.

The interview proceeded smoothly, with questions answered according to the card.

"There’s been a rumor online about President Lawson’s fiancée. Has it affected your relationship?"

Landon’s brows furrowed; this question was unexpected!

It wasn’t on the question card he reviewed earlier.

With a cold gaze, he looked at the host, who, anticipating his reaction, promptly turned to Vera Yates.

She was also momentarily taken aback but quickly recovered, proactively holding Landon’s hand, interlacing their fingers: "Oh, those are all in the past."
