I Have A Solo Mommy Plan, But Daddy Refuses to Let Go
Chapter 9: Not Really Divorced
CHAPTER 9: CHAPTER 9: NOT REALLY DIVORCED
"Miss, please be careful." Fortunately, a security guard standing at the entrance quickly supported Sienna Quinn, preventing her from falling to the ground.
"Thank you." Sienna straightened her body and thanked the security guard.
Though she was thankful for this little incident, it helped calm her anxiety and restore her composure, which was lost because of him.
Sienna regained her composure, glanced at the man and, without a word, turned to go inside the restaurant.
But at that moment, her wrist was grasped by the man.
"Sienna, you still owe me an explanation!" The man finally spoke, his tone cold and devoid of warmth, carrying an intense oppressive aura.
Five years. She had been hiding for five years, and now she returns, only to ignore him?
Landon Lawson actually knew where she was but never went after her. Thanks to a few errant friends, he saw reports about her frequently in the international financial times and often heard them mention her name, but he never actively brought her up.
He did wonder, however, if she would never come back.
He could never understand why, after chasing him for ten years, she suddenly left a divorce agreement and disappeared without a trace the day after their marriage.
Nor could he comprehend why, after five years, she suddenly returned!
Compared to that divorce agreement five years ago, being ignored by her now made Landon feel a greater sense of having his dignity trampled upon.
When had Landon Lawson ever been toyed with like this, especially by a woman he despised?
But this woman...
She seems to be very different from five years ago.
Now, she had a delicate face with light makeup, her expression calm and indifferent, wearing a light blue dress accentuating her noble elegance, with shoulder-length curly hair, making her look as exquisite as a doll.
In five years, she transformed from an unkempt innocent student into a professional, poised woman.
Her detachment and the trace of a mocking smile on her face stirred anger within Landon, prompting him to tighten his grip, his voice deepening: "Speak!"
"I have nothing to say." Sienna spoke calmly, her voice devoid of emotion.
An unfamiliar yet familiar masculine scent filled the air as Sienna struggled, trying to break free from Landon’s restraint, but his grip only tightened, as though he wouldn’t let her go without a reasonable explanation.
This was the hotel lobby entrance; though there weren’t many people, Landon Lawson and Vera Yates, two prominent figures, had undoubtedly drawn attention.
Her hand ached from his grip, Sienna bit her lip and lowered her voice: "Let go!"
There was nothing left between them.
But despite that, her heart wrenched painfully, both sour and aching.
Fifteen years, she loved him humbly for fifteen years. Yet he heartlessly endangered both her and the child’s lives!
"Without a proper explanation, do you think I’ll let you leave again?" The man towered over her, not yielding a single step.
Five years ago, constrained by pride and face, he didn’t bring her back. Now that she had returned, he wouldn’t let her leave again!
He certainly wouldn’t admit that in the five years without her, life felt somewhat incomplete. He blamed her for playing him, so this time she must bear the consequences!
"Stephen, maybe Sienna left because of some unspeakable reason, and now that she’s back, let’s find a place to sit down and talk it out," Vera Yates approached and spoke softly.
Now publicly appearing as Landon’s girlfriend, Vera definitely didn’t want Sienna photographed. If reporters and media discovered Sienna was Landon’s wife, all Vera’s years of effort would be for naught.
"Actress Vance is right, Mr. Lawson, if you have anything to ask, perhaps we can find a place to catch up another day. But now, with your current girlfriend present, it’s best to let go, given the many eyes around. If the media were to accidentally discover I’m your ex-wife... I wouldn’t mind, but it might affect the Lawson Group and Actress Vance’s careers."
After all, the web is abuzz with discussions about their impending nuptials. Those uninformed might think she deliberately returned to disrupt the situation.
Her words caused Vera’s expression to change slightly, and Landon wasn’t any better. When she said the words "ex-wife," his heart was a raging fire ready to explode.
"Sienna..." Landon spoke through clenched teeth.
He wanted to say, that five years ago, he didn’t sign the divorce agreement.
Even if he did sign it, without acquiring the divorce certificate, they weren’t truly divorced!
But before he could speak, his shoulder was gently patted, followed by a sonorous, calm voice in his ear: "President Lawson, what a coincidence."
Upon hearing the sound, Landon released Sienna’s hand and turned to greet the newcomer: "President Yates."
Her hand was finally freed, and Sienna glared angrily at Landon, looking down to rub her sore wrist.
Was this man made of steel? Such strength.
Coming in alongside the man was Danielle Carter, delayed by parking. Seeing Landon Lawson and Vera Yates, her eyes lit up, though she restrained herself from seeking Vera’s autograph due to the presence of her boss and new supervisor.
"President Yates, the one ahead is President Quinn," Danielle whispered to Axel Yates, who then noticed Sienna standing aside.
At that moment, Sienna lifted her head and looked at Axel Yates.
"President Yates." Sienna’s eyes brightened as she instantly showcased a lovely smile.
"Sienna Quinn, I finally managed to pry you back," Axel Yates stepped closer to Sienna, affectionately reached out to tousle her hair, and smiled smugly.
This affectionate gesture made Landon’s face turn dark instantly.
Axel Yates, a friend and rival of Landon Lawson, was well known to him.
Although a single man in his thirties, Axel had always been aloof, with a genteel exterior, it wasn’t easy for him to get close to others; let alone women, even male friends were few.
But now.... he was being so intimate with his wife.
