CHAPTER 156: ONE OF THEM?

The Apex demonic beast gave out a roar when it saw that its ploy to try and distract Lukas didn’t work out.

It turned its focus back to Lukas.

The eyes of the Apex demonic beast glowed brightly as it tried to take control of Lukas’s mind.

Lukas took out his last cognitive dominion grenade, twisted the safety pin and pulled it out.

As the brown glow emitting from the grenade engulfed his body, the splitting headache that he felt was gone.

Lukas clipped the grenade onto his Darkmatter Vault armor, and he lunged at the Apex demonic beast again.

Huge pillars of ice spikes and lightning appeared above the head of the Apex demonic beast.

The Apex demonic beast with its tentacle nailed to the ground by Lukas’s Gravity ability couldn’t move away from the pillars of ice spikes and lightning strikes.

Splatter.

The ice spikes penetrated through the tough skin of the Apex demonic beast.

And the lightning strikes struck the wounds of the Apex demonic beast caused by the ice spikes.

Its flesh splattered out into the air.

Relentlessly, Lukas raised his hands and waved them down again.

Another lightning prison and ice palace struck the Apex demonic beast’s head.

Roar.

The pain caused it to thrash around and give out a huge roar in pain.

Lukas then raised his hands again.

He knew the next wave of attacks should be able to finish it off.

But before he could do so, Lukas felt a gust of wind coming at him from behind.

It was Lin Fan with his plasma claws coming at him.

Lukas ignored the claws.

He felt a warm sensation on his neck as Lin Fan tried to stab his plasma claws into it.

Thud.

The plasma claws were stopped by the tough skin of Lukas.

Lukas waved his hands down and then twisted his body and gave an elbow to Lin Fan.

But Lin Fan had fallen to the ground and his elbow missed.

Lukas glanced at Lin Fan who ran towards the Apex demonic beast and disappeared into thin air.

Lin Fan had used his ability to get into his realm.

The Apex demonic beast after being struck again by Lukas’s lightning prison and ice palace could now only give out a soft murmur.

"You... will... regret...." Its voice came into Lukas’s mind.

Splatter.

Flesh splattered out from the Apex demonic beast’s body.

Lin Fan was trying to get into it to harvest its demonic beast core.

Seeing this, Lukas summoned Shiba out from his summon space.

As Lin Fan used his plasma claws slowly digging his way into the body of the Apex demonic beast’s core, he saw an amber glow appearing right in front of him.

He stopped and paused.

Suddenly, a huge mouth with sharp fangs came at him.

Lin Fan quickly activated his ability and got into his realm.

Within his realm he was untouchable by the abilities of others.

He waited for Shiba to go past him.

Splatter.

Lin Fan was utterly surprised when Shiba took a huge chunk of his shoulder with its huge mouth.

"How is this possible?!" He shouted and gritted his teeth.

Lin Fan quickly turned around and tried to run away from Shiba.

But he couldn’t.

He saw Shiba’s huge mouth coming at his head.

Lin Fan raised his hands with his plasma claws trying to slice at Shiba’s head.

It didn’t cause any damage to Shiba.

The plasma claws couldn’t penetrate the tough scaly skin of Shiba.

Lin Fan gasped and his eyes opened wide as the surroundings darkened. Covered by the huge mouth of Shiba.

Ptui.

Shiba spat out Lin Fan’s head onto the ground and it glanced up at the Apex demonic beast.

The Apex demonic beast was startled when it saw Shiba.

Its eyes gave out a final burst of green glow and it gave out a soft whimper.

"Elder..."

Elder? Lukas heard what the Apex demonic beast said but didn’t know what it meant.

He wanted to unleash another blow at it but stopped.

A familiar sound erupted in his mind.

[Ding!]

"Lukas!"

Shouts of his name disrupted his thoughts.

Sherry and the others were coming towards him.

They couldn’t believe what they had just seen.

An Apex demonic beast being slaughtered by a person.

It was unheard of even for Sherry.

She always knew the First Awakened had the ability to do so but wasn’t around to witness it when Athena took care of the Apex demonic beast in the South Battle Administration Area.

Even Riley, Rex, Emma and Harianto who had witnessed Athena before were also astonished with what Lukas did.

They were the ones who saw Lukas starting out as a newbie to becoming stronger into what he was now.

"You all right?" Riley came up to Lukas and asked.

Lukas nodded and replied, "I’m fine."

He reached into his Darkmatter Vault armor and took out some energy bars.

"Want some?" Lukas offered them to Riley and the others, as he had always done.

Riley and the others took the energy bars and patted him on his back as they walked away.

However, it was not over.

The airplanes descended and soldiers got out of them.

Some of them started to harvest the flesh, blood and demonic beast core of the Apex demonic beast.

And some of them took care of Lin Fan’s head and body.

"I can try my best to see if there are any clues on the Shadow Lotus."

Sherry said as the soldiers carried away Lin Fan’s head and body in hibernation devices.

Lin Fan’s teammates didn’t know what was going on and they glanced at Sherry with a perturbed look.

Sherry gave out a sigh and said to them, "Lin Fan was working with the Shadow Lotus.

"And so, I would need you to help me in the investigation."

Sherry then glanced back over at Lukas and said, "Come with me back to the Center Battle Administration Area together with your team."

Lukas nodded immediately.

After all, it was time for his rewards after all this hard work.

Far away, in an abyss, huge demonic beasts stirred from their sleep.

They felt another of their own had perished.

Time was ticking for them.
