CHAPTER 201: BUY AND BUY

Next day.

Lukas woke up to the smell of coffee in the morning.

He got up, washed up and went down to join the others.

Before he sat down, there were coffee and sandwiches already ready for him on the table.

Emma was just as reliable as usual.

He quickly finished the breakfast, and they made their way to the Awakened Center after that.

"Lukas? Nice to see you again." Mandy greeted Lukas when she saw him with his teammates.

The other awakened in the lobby glanced over at them when they heard his name.

Rex stood up straight and held his head up with all the attention.

After rolling her eyes at Rex, Emma gave out smiles to the awakened.

Riley, who was used to all this attention, brushed his long blue hair, which had grown back, and waved at the young pretty awakened swooning over him.

Only Harianto and Lukas weren’t that used to the attention.

Harianto shrugged his shoulders while Lukas just kept a straight face.

Lukas gave Mandy a polite smile next and said, "We are here to see the Director."

"Hold on a minute." Mandy checked the appointment status of Rodney, and when she saw that it was empty, she booked it for Lukas and his teammates.

"Come with me." Mandy led them through the security gates and into the lifts.

Ding.

The lift gave out its dinging sound when it reached the floor where Rodney’s office was.

Lukas and the others proceeded ahead while Mandy went back down to the lobby herself.

They were more than familiar with Rodney’s office.

Knock.

"Who’s that?" Rodney’s voice boomed from behind the door.

"It’s me and the team." Riley replied.

The door opened in the next moment.

They entered through the door, and Rodney’s secretary, who had opened the door, went out to prepare coffee for them.

"Welcome back." Rodney stood up and greeted them.

He took out a cigar, put it into his mouth and lit it.

After taking a puff, he gestured for them to sit down.

While they were taking their seats, Rodney continued and said, "Thanks for the surprise you had for me, by the way."

"Surprise?" Riley asked with a confused look.

As far as he knew, they didn’t have any gift or surprises for Rodney.

"I figured you’ve forgotten." Rodney took a puff again and said, "There were some pesky cult members trying to kill Dr. Uwe."

Margaret’s eyes opened wide at the news.

She hasn’t heard anything about it from Dr. Uwe.

He must’ve kept it from her so that she wouldn’t be worried.

Margaret thought silently to herself.

Riley frowned as they weren’t aware that the Divined One had sent a team of killers to try and murder Dr. Uwe.

"Unfortunately for them, I was with Dr. Uwe when they tried to make a move on him." Rodney said.

"Is Dr. Uwe..." Margaret was worried that Dr. Uwe might have concealed any injuries from her.

Rodney gave her a smile and said, "Relax, he is unharmed."

"Thanks so much." Margaret thanked Rodney.

Rodney took a puff from his cigar, trying to act cool.

Uwe and Albert, you lucky bastards. He grumbled silently to himself.

"Do you have any news of the Dark Lord?" Lukas asked next.

Rodney shook his head and replied, "The Dark Lord hasn’t been found or made any movements.

"And I hope he doesn’t.

"Best for him to go die off somewhere alone.

"The recovery and rebuilding are going so well.

"It would be a pity for the efforts to go to waste again."

Riley and the others nodded.

Lukas’s question also reminded them that there was still work to be done.

"Speaking of the Dark Lord, we need to get stronger to be ready for him." Riley said.

"Of course, we have harvested many demonic beast cores from clearing the woods outside the wall.

"Don’t worry about them running out." Rodney said.

Lukas and the others bid him farewell, and they got down to the merchandise store to buy what they needed.

After they entered the store, they split up.

Riley and the rest went on to buy as many demonic beast cores as they could.

Lukas was looking for something else.

"Lukas." Adeline saw him and greeted him.

"I’m looking for upgrades for my armor and something that can slice things up." Lukas said.

"I might have just the thing for you."

Adeline led him through the racks of weaponry, and she stopped at the back of the store.

"This is the Darkmatter Vault Armor version 2.0.

"It is fifty times tougher than the previous version and can repel certain attacks from High Tiered demonic beasts or awakened at Master Level of Mastery.

"However, it is... a little pricey." Adeline said.

"How much is it?" Lukas asked.

He was pretty sure that he could afford it.

"It costs one million dollars." Adeline replied.

When she saw Lukas giving her a shrug, she figured that it must have been too expensive.

She quickly tried to make the deal better for Lukas.

"I can add in the latest we have in technology for slicing things up for free, if you want it."

Adeline walked over to a weapon rack and took out two katanas.

She handed them over to Lukas and said, "These are plasma katanas that could slice through the toughest High Tiered demonic beast.

"The downside of these is that, to power them, you’ll need to use your energy for your abilities."

Lukas nodded his head.

It was actually perfect for him.

Energy wasn’t an issue for him with his Physique Level.

"Fine. I’ll take the Darkmatter Vault Armor." Lukas said and handed Adeline his card.

"What?" Adeline didn’t expect it to go so smoothly.

She perked up and quickly processed his payment.

When the transaction went through without any hiccups, Adeline couldn’t help but wonder how rich Lukas was now.

It was hard for her to link the poor boy living in a small dark room to the person standing in front of her.

Someone who could spend a million dollars without blinking an eye.

If only she had known earlier. Adeline thought as she passed Lukas’s card back to him.
