CHAPTER 207: GENERAL AUTHUR

"Argh!" Kain cried out in pain as he tried to get close to Giuseppe.

His body swayed from left to right, trying to dodge the invisible blades that Giuseppe was unleashing at him.

It was not of much use.

Kain was too tired and moving slowly.

As he bled profusely all over his body, Kain turned his head back, glanced at Kevin and mouthed the words, "Run!"

Kevin shook his head, and he pulled the ground with his hands like a rug.

His pull made the ground shift and Giuseppe stumbled a few steps before regaining his footing.

Kain also fell but he was held by Kevin, he tried to struggle from Kevin’s grip.

"Fall back to the next position and fight there. We shall not let them die in vain." Kevin said to Kain.

Even though Kevin was also filled with rage and anger over the death of his friends and teammates, he still had the mind to try and fight where it was more advantageous to them.

Kain stopped his struggling and he nodded his head.

Just as Giuseppe was about to unleash his attacks at them, Kevin lunged to the side and pressed a red button that was on a control panel.

Boom.

Immediately, the tunnel shook, and another steel gate dropped from the ceiling.

And in the nick of time the steel gate blocked the invisible blades from Giuseppe that were coming towards Kevin and Kain.

Soldiers who were stationed deeper in the tunnel came up to Kevin and Kain in an armored car and helped them into it.

They quickly drove off deeper into the tunnel while the healing soldiers tried to do whatever they could to heal the wounds of Kevin and Kain.

"Cowards." Giuseppe who was with the Dark Lord and Olivia behind the steel gate said and spat on the ground.

The Dark Lord wasn’t too pleased and said, "Do your work and get to the First Awakened."

Olivia shook her head and smirked at Giuseppe.

Seeing that he wasn’t too popular, Giuseppe shut his mouth and got to work.

Lukas frowned when he heard the reports over the radio.

The base was attacked and infiltrated.

Defenses from those inside the base might not hold long according to the report.

He glanced out of the armored truck’s window and saw the trail of blood that could be seen at the checkpoint.

Pieces of the soldiers’ bodies were strewn around, and patches of crimson could be seen on the white snowy ground.

The blizzard that was blowing strongly hadn’t covered them up yet.

"How long before we arrive at the entrance of the base?" Lukas asked the driver of the armored truck.

"Soon. Five more minutes."

Lukas nodded and so did the others.

They started to check their equipment, getting ready for the battle ahead.

"General Arthur..." Kevin said when he saw a fit man with silver hair and a white beard in a general’s uniform.

"Spare the formalities, we don’t have much time, tell me what had happened." General Arthur asked.

Kevin proceeded to brief him on what had happened and the abilities he had witnessed from Giuseppe and Olivia.

The General nodded his head, and he gave out his orders.

"Mecha units, get ready for the attacks and distract the man with his slicing ability.

"Awakened units go in and focus on him.

"I shall personally take care of the woman with her purple glowing chains."

The soldiers gave him a salute and gave out a loud cry in unison, "Yes Sir."

Some of them got moving and they climbed into mecha units that were twice the height of an adult.

There were demonic beast cores that were embedded within the mecha units.

The engines of the mecha units roared and they stood in a line across the tunnel leading deeper into the base, ready for Giuseppe to appear.

Behind them, soldiers in armor got ready.

Kevin and Kain who were still getting healed by the healing soldiers watched and ate their energy bars while waiting.

They would join in the battle the moment they could.

It didn’t take long before they saw that familiar face again.

Giuseppe raised his hand and pointed at them.

"I see you there. And what do we have here." He glanced at the row of mecha units in front of him.

The soldiers inside the mecha units ignored him, they were getting ready and the demonic beast cores that were embedded in the mecha units started to give off a glow.

"Attack!" General Arthur shouted when he felt that it was time.

Clank.

The mecha units moved toward Giuseppe and tried to encircle him.

Boosters on the back of the mecha units helped with their movements and their speed was faster than anyone would expect.

"New toys eh." Giuseppe tilted his head and cracked his knuckles.

He raised his hands and unleashed his ability at one of the mecha units coming at him.

Thud.

To his surprise, an amber glow appeared and engulfed the mecha unit, blocking his invisible blades.

The mecha unit got near and swung its arms down at Giuseppe’s head.

Boom.

Giuseppe leaped away toward the back.

Another mecha unit came at him from the side, its hands pointed at Giuseppe and water spouts shot out at him.

Splatter.

The water spout caught some of Giuseppe’s right shoulder and sliced it off.

Blood and flesh splattered out from his right shoulder.

This got Kevin and Kain standing up again.

If only they could go and rip his head off. They thought to themselves, wanting to avenge Astrid, Bjorn and Erik.

But their energy was still low, and they would have to wait a few minutes, before they could join in the battle.

"Damn you!" Giuseppe shouted and he unleashed his ability at the mecha unit that had caught him with the water spouts.

Thud.

The same thing happened, and the mecha unit was engulfed in a blue glow.

Olivia glanced at the Dark Lord and knew that it was best for her to help Giuseppe.

Clank.

Purple glowing chains extended out from her body.
