Chapter 86: LEADING MAN
CHAPTER 86: LEADING MAN
HE FELL asleep.
Yun Dujun didn’t know how to feel at the moment.
He was a bit frustrated that Bae Wonyoung fell asleep after seducing him.
But the disappointment didn’t last long.
First of all, getting worked up in that place he shared with his son wasn’t a good idea.
Second, Bae Wonyoung looked so cute while sleeping.
Hence, all the lewd thoughts in Yun Dujun’s head disappeared.
At least, Hoobae-nim didn’t turn off the video call.
That silent yet precious moment got him thinking.
"You asked me if I liked you romantically, Hoobae-nim," Yun Dujun whispered to himself, tracing Bae Wonyoung’s sleeping face with his finger on the screen. "I’m not yet sure, but if it will stop you from divorcing me, then maybe it isn’t a bad thing to like you."
***
DAMMIT, I fell asleep.
Wonyoung was shocked when he woke up, remembering that he was supposed to seduce Yun Dujun last night.
Obviously, he failed.
Worse, he woke up with his phone already ’dead.’
"I’m never drinking again."
After Wonyoung made that promise to himself, he immediately charged his phone.
Then he took a bath.
He came out an hour later, checking his phone right away.
His heart kinda acted up when he saw a few messages from Yun Dujun.
"Call me when you wake up. Don’t worry about the time. Just call."
Oh.
It wasn’t even 8AM, so it must be midnight in Finland.
But since Yun Dujun told him not to worry about time, he decided to call the Alpha.
I’ll hang up if Sunbae-nim doesn’t pick up after three calls—
"You’re awake, Hoobae-nim?"
Oh.
Yun Dujun picked up the call just after two rings.
"You’re still awake, Sunbae-nim?"
"I was waiting for your call."
Aigoo.
"I’m sorry, Sunbae-nim," Wonyoung said shyly. "I fell asleep when I was the one who started it."
"Started what exactly?"
"You know what I’m talking about, Sunbae-nim."
"No, I don’t."
Aigoo.
Obviously, Yun Dujun was teasing him.
"I seduced Sunbae-nim," Wonyoung said, his cheeks flushed. "But I fell asleep. I’m sorry."
"It’s alright."
"Really?"
"Well, not really. I’ll admit I was disappointed. But I don’t want you to be bothered by it, Hoobae-nim."
Wonyoung beamed, grinning like an idiot.
Hehe.
I would have been disappointed had Dujun Sunbae-nim said he was fine. After all, it would mean he didn’t get work up when I seduced him last night.
"I’ll make it up to you, Sunbae-nim."
"When and where?"
Wonyoung couldn’t help but smile at how eager Yun Dujun sounded. "As soon as you return, Sunbae-nim. Please rent a nice villa for us."
Yes, I’m being bold.
But Wonyoung’s heart was thumping hard and fast against his chest while anticipating Yun Dujun’s response.
"Sure, I’ll buy the nicest villa for you, Hoobae-nim."
Pfft.
Wonyoung laughed at Yun Dujun’s joke.
He’s joking, right?
***
"APPA, good luck on your work."
Aigoo.
Wonyoung was touched that An Baekya woke up early just to wish him luck.
The call time for his first day of shooting was 3AM.
So, he didn’t expect the kid to wake up that early.
"Thank you, Baekya," Wonyoung said, squatting down to meet the child’s eye level. "You can go back to sleep now. Your Uncle George will accompany you again to your acting lesson. I’m not sure what time the filming will end, so I might not be able to pick you up. If I can’t make it, your Uncle George will drive you home."
"I understand, Appa," An Baekya said, nodding. "Don’t worry about me. Uncle George is nice to me. He teaches me English when we have time."
"I’m glad to hear that."
"Where are you filming today, Appa?" An Baekya asked curiously. "And why is your call time so early?"
"It’s because the make-up artists have to transform the extras into zombies," Wonyoung said excitedly. "We’re going to film in a hanok village in Ikseondong, so I’m pretty pumped."
***
"WONYOUNG-ssi, aren’t you cold?"
"I’m fine, Myung-ssi," Wonyoung said, still looking around the filming site. "It’s been a while since I’ve been in a hanok village, so I want to absorb the scenery while it’s still quiet here."
The Ikseondong hanok village was pretty.
It was located in Seoul, so it didn’t completely give him the feeling that he was back to the Joseon Dynasty.
However, the traditional hanok architecture was still charming.
I remember the time I filmed a costume drama in the other world.
It was fun.
"At least wear your jacket, Wonyoung-ssi," Han Myung said while draping his jacket over his shoulders. "Our boss will worry if you get sick. Plus, I might get fired if you fall ill while I’m watching you."
Wonyoung laughed softly. "I don’t think Dujun Sunbae-nim will fire you for something like that."
"Our boss doesn’t play about you, Wonyoung-ssi."
Wonyoung just grinned, delighted by the fact that Han Myung could see that Yun Dujun treasured him.
Anyway...
The staff members were still setting up the props and the cameras.
Meanwhile, the makeup artists and the stylists were busy turning the other extras into zombies.
Since Wonyoung was the first to arrive, he got his makeup done first.
Yes, I look like a zombie now.
He also wore tattered hoodies and ripped jeans.
Yeah, the music video is set in a modern setting. That’s why I don’t understand yet why the location is a hanok village.
It wasn’t like the extras were given a script.
Director Jin just told us to dance like zombies later.
He actually dreaded the moment.
Choreographer DJ is the one teaching us the dance moves later, after all.
And that choreographer hated Wonyoung.
"Are you the lead actor who’s going to act as my zombie lover?"
Huh?
Wonyoung was surprised when a tall and beautiful woman suddenly appeared before him.
Long, red hair.
Slightly tanned skin.
Strong presence.
And the scent coming from her...
Oh, she’s an Alpha.
Han Myung subtly protected him by putting an arm in front of him as if separating him from the stranger.
But this lady looks familiar?
"Omo, omo. You’re looking at me as if you don’t know me..." The woman trailed off, and then his eyes widened a bit. "Oh, you really don’t know me, huh?"
Wonyoung could only smile awkwardly.
We signed an NDA, but the director didn’t tell us who the star of the music video is. He just told us that we’ll be surprised.
"Wonyoung-ssi, this lady is Summer-ssi," Han Myung whispered to Wonyoung. "She used to be a part of a four-member girl group called Season Girls. They debuted five years ago, but they disbanded just last year. Now Summer-ssi is a soloist."
Oh.
She debuted five years ago, so I didn’t recognize her. I don’t listen to K-pop that much, so I’m not familiar with idols.
That was a mistake.
I should start watching other celebrities, not just actors and actresses.
"Hello, Summer-nim," Wonyoung greeted the soloist politely, bowing his head. "I’m Bae Wonyoung, an extra."
"What?" Summer asked in disbelief. "You’re just an extra?"
"Yes, ma’am."
"How come you’re just an extra with that face?"
"My face?" Wonyoung asked, confused, as he lifted his head. "But I’m wearing a zombie makeup look, ma’am."
Summer laughed as if she were amused. "Wonyoung-ssi, how old are you?"
"I’m 27, ma’am."
"Then no need to be so formal with me. I’m 23," Summer said, still smiling. "Can I call you ’Oppa?’"
"I don’t mind, ma’am."
"You’re making me look old when you call me ’ma’am,’ Oppa."
"Then... Summer-ssi?"
"I’d prefer it if you call me in a friendlier manner, but I guess that’s fine for now," Summer said cheerfully. "Oppa, even with the zombie look, you still look handsome as heck. Why are you an extra and not the male lead?"
Wonyoung scratched his cheek. "Only the role of an extra was available when I saw the ad, so I just auditioned for whatever role was up for grabs."
***
CHANGDEOKGUNG PALACE.
Wonyoung wanted to take pictures of the palace while the extras on a break.
But he couldn’t even bring out his phone because of the tension in the set.
Director Jin Gangseok and the music video’s lead actors— Summer and a handsome Alpha with the stage name ’Jameson’ (yes, he was mixed)— were having an argument.
"Why are the two of you so distracted?" Director Jin Gangseok asked, frustrated. The director’s voice echoed in the hallway. "Summer-ssi, you’re usually good at acting. You, too, Jameson. Your chemistry during our first meeting was there. Where is it now?"
"Director, can we change the script?" Summer asked. "To be precise, can we change the lead actor?"
"Summer-ssi, how can you say that in front of Jameson-ssi?"
"No, it’s totally fine with me, Director Jin," Jameson said, a hint of ’accent’ in his Korean. It was obvious that the man wasn’t that fluent in Hangul yet. "In fact, I agree with Summer’s suggestion. We talked about it earlier and we kind of wanted to change the direction of the music video."
"What are you two talking about?"
"Director Jin, we want Wonyoung Oppa to be the new male lead!"
Wonyoung whipped his head in the direction of the three and was a bit flustered when he saw them looking at him. "Me?" he asked, stupefied, while pointing at himself. "But why me?"

SONG TITLE: Love You to Death
Artist: Summer
Summary: In a post-apocalyptic world, Summer tries to keep her zombie boyfriend hidden from the other survivors. In the end, will a true love’s kiss be enough to turn her zombie boyfriend human again?
Oh.
"A kiss?"
Wonyoung only realized that he had asked that out loud when Summer responded.
"Yep, there’s a kissing scene in the script," Summer answered cheerfully. "We’re going to have a passionate kiss at the end of the music video, Wonyoung Oppa~"
