CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 027 WHO ALLOWED YOU TO TOUCH HER? 1
Ning Xixi and Gong Xiu were both unaware that someone was peeping from outside.
Inside the studio.
"No. It’s very beautiful." True to his name, Gong Xiu recovered his composure in mere seconds: "The dress suits you well, but changing to another pair of shoes might be better."
He gestured and an exquisite gift box was immediately handed to him. He opened it, and inside were a pair of silver high heels, as beautiful as Cinderella’s crystal slippers from a fairy tale.
A trace of discomfort crossed Ning Xixi’s face.
She... wasn’t very skilled at wearing high heels, as she would often sprain her ankle whenever she wore them.
But... looking at Gong Xiu’s face, she managed a strained smile, took the box, and returned to the dressing room to put on the heels that were a full 7 centimeters tall.
Gong Xiu posited an elegant invitation gesture: "May I?"
Ning Xixi took his arm with a touch of restraint.
Everything felt like a dream. On the first day of her transfer school, the male god she had secretly loved for three years actually invited her to a ball.
Ning Xixi was in a fog until they arrived at the ball, where she finally came back to reality.
"Let’s go." Gong Xiu smiled at her affectionately, his eyes like deep, unfathomable pools, glittering with obscure and dim light.
The ballroom was luxuriously decorated; a serene and elegant piano piece played, and the crowd coming and going was dressed brightly, all smiles, toasting and mingling.
Gong Xiu escorted Ning Xixi around, her smile impeccable; yet her ankle throbbed with a continuous pain...
"Gong Xiu! What’s the matter with you! Didn’t I tell you to invite Yiqing to dance? You’re escorting another girl, where does that leave my face?" A middle-aged man dressed in a sharp dark suit and gleaming shoes, walked over, his voice low and roaring.
Upon seeing him, Gong Xiu’s expression visibly darkened.
Ning Xixi glanced at him and guessed from the resemblance that he must be Gong Xiu’s father.
She discreetly let go of Gong Xiu.
"At a ball, of course you should invite the person you like to be your dance partner." Gong Xiu laughed with a devilish charm, wrapping his arm around Ning Xixi’s shoulders and tenderly tucking her disheveled hair behind her ear, "Xixi, this is my father."
Ning Xixi felt excruciatingly uncomfortable, unable to push Gong Xiu away yet not in a position to explain, so she could only offer a dry smile: "Hello, Uncle."
Gong’s father recognized her as the Ning Family’s young lady, his expression softening slightly: "Oh, it’s Xixi. Ah... Nevermind, you young people, as long as you’re happy."
Ning Xixi’s expression turned somewhat downcast.
So, Gong Xiu was just using her as a shield.
The male god... was just using her.
"Ning Xixi? So you’re the daughter of the Ning Family." A girl in a white princess dress with a sweet and cute smile approached, "Hello, I’m Ma Yiqing."
Ning Xixi nodded in greeting: "Hello."
A boy with glasses followed beside Ma Yiqing, offering her a glass of champagne like an old friend: "Beauty, have a drink, we’re all friends here!"
...Who’s your friend!
Ning Xixi declined politely: "I don’t drink alcohol..."
"Gong’s lady, why won’t you give face and drink a glass of wine?" the glasses-wearing boy complained to Gong Xiu beside him, "You tell us, what should we do!"
Gong Xiu was not in a good mood, his eyebrows knitted as he looked towards Ning Xixi: "A glass of wine is no big deal."
Ning Xixi bit her lip: "I..."
All her words of explanation lost meaning in the face of this man’s indifference.
After a moment, she managed a stiff smile: "Yeah, it’s just a glass of wine. I’ll drink it then."
