CHAPTER 191: REGISTERING THE IMPOSSIBLE

As soon as Joshua turned back to his table, a silent dismissal, Adam also left. He moved away from the tense atmosphere of the Golden Group’s section and headed towards the main exit of the cafeteria.

His team members, the five he had chosen for the competition and the rest of the eighty-strong New Warriors, followed him from behind. They moved as a single, uncertain unit.

They had many questions in their minds. But Adam, instead of turning to answer their questions or to offer them any words of encouragement, was just walking ahead.

His team members walking behind him were thinking about what their leader "Eric" was thinking at this time. They couldn’t understand anything about what he was going to do next.

Whatever Adam had done so far, from the first day in the dormitory courtyard to the confrontation in the cafeteria, was all above their minds. It was beyond their understanding. Although in this group, Void was the only one who understood Adam a little. He was not confused. He was very excited in his heart.

Although he had his own orders from above, from the Apostles, that for now, as much as possible, he should work in the shadows and not bring himself too much to the forefront. He was not supposed to reveal his true power. Thinking this in his mind, Void thought that at least he could show a little bit of his strength if Adam needed his help in this competition.

Adam stopped at a short distance from the cafeteria. He stood before the south gate of the vast Academy grounds. Just beyond this gate was the forest where the mission building was located. Right behind that building was the massive, dark forest where most of the academy’s students completed their dangerous missions. Adam looked at that building, at the entrance to the forest. He was ready to begin the competition.

His team stood behind him. Their hearts were filled with a mixture of deep fear and a fragile, flickering hope. They didn’t know what to expect. But they knew one thing for sure.

Their leader, Eric, had a plan. And they were all a part of it. The day of the great bet had just begun. And the forest was waiting. The real test of their new faction, The New Warriors, was about to start. And the entire Academy would be watching the results board to see what would happen.

---

Adam turned back from the gate. He stood in front of all his team members. The eighty or so students of The New Warriors looked at him with a mixture of fear and awe. All the team members were very surprised by the bet he had made.

They had many questions in their minds. But at this time Adam did not answer their questions. Instead he stood in front of them all and said "Whoever’s name I took in the cafeteria will come inside with me. Ryan Kado Void Robin. You are with me. The rest of the team members will wait here for now."

Hearing this the rest of the team members looked at each other. They were disappointed but they understood. Kado was about to say something to protest being left out of whatever came next. But before he could speak Adam turned and entered the large mission building straight away. He did not wait for a response.

Seeing this Kado looked at Void and Ryan. He let out a deep sigh of frustration. The four of them then entered the mission building following behind Adam.

As soon as they entered the building they saw that it was a vast open hall. The walls in front of them were covered with three very large boards. Although there were already other students present there they were mostly fourth-year and third-year students. They were all looking at the boards with serious expressions.

At the very end of the hall there was a long counter where the academic staff was present. These were the people who allocated the missions to the students. The four of them Void Kado Ryan and Robin were very surprised to see the staff members and the busy hall. They had seen the mission building for the first time.

They looked ahead and found that Adam was already standing in front of a board on the wall. The board was green in color. He was taking out the paper slips that were stuck on it one by one.

Seeing this they were all surprised and thought to themselves Has Adam been here before? Does he know the ways of this place and what happens here? Because they didn’t know how things worked here. They didn’t know how to take a mission. They were completely new to this.

Adam holding a handful of green paper slips in his hand looked back at his team members. He pointed with his finger and gestured for them to follow him. His team members understood upon seeing his gesture. Adam moved from the green board. He went to the other board which was yellow in color.

He read many slips from this board as well and kept them with him. And then Adam moved forward. He went to the counter at the end of the hall. His four team members were following him trying to keep up.

Standing at the counter Adam looked at the staff member who was sitting there. He placed the large stack of green and yellow paper slips on the counter. "I want to register all these missions in the name of Team The New Warrior," he said his voice calm and confident.

Hearing this the staff member who was sitting there looked up at Adam. And seeing so many mission slips in his hand he was completely in shock.

He was very surprised. No one had ever tried to take on so many missions at once before. It was an impossible task. He just stared at Adam his mouth slightly open unable to speak. The first move in the great bet had been made. And it was a very bold one.

After sitting there stunned for a few seconds, the staff member looked at Adam again. "Are you here to take a mission for the first time?" he asked, his voice a mixture of disbelief and annoyance. "Don’t you know the rules? One team can only take on a few missions at a time."

But Adam was not affected by his words at all. He simply said again, his voice calm and firm, "I told you. I want to register all these missions in the name of The New Warrior group. This is my team standing behind me."

Hearing this, the staff member became very surprised and angry. He slammed his hand down on the counter with a loud thud. "So many missions!" he shouted, his voice echoing in the large hall. "Can you even complete so many missions in one day? This is not a game, boy!"

Hearing this, Adam said nothing. He just stared back at the staff member, his expression calm and unreadable. The staff member was very surprised and angry seeing Adam’s silence.

But he was also helpless. Because his responsibility was only to register and assign the missions. He could not punish any of the Academy’s students.

Although in his mind, he was cursing this rule a lot. Because he really wanted to teach this arrogant first-year child a lesson. But then, controlling his anger, he took a deep breath.

He said, "If you don’t complete all these missions that you are registering, then I will impose a very heavy penalty on your team. You will lose a lot of points."

But Adam was not affected by that threat either. He extended his hand forward again. He pushed the large stack of mission slips towards the staff member who was sitting at the counter.

The staff member sighed in frustration and took those slips in his hand. A large, blue-colored, and round crystal ball was placed on the counter in front of him. He began to write all the records of the missions into it.

As he was registering the missions, the staff member was very surprised to see that Adam had taken mostly F-rank missions and D-rank missions. He had not taken any higher-rank missions.

And he was even more surprised when he saw that Adam had taken a total of 28 missions. In which there were 22 F-rank missions and 6 D-rank missions.

But he was not affected by this matter anymore. He registered all those missions in the name of Adam’s new group, The New Warrior group.

The impossible bet had officially begun. And the entire Academy would be watching to see if this arrogant newcomer could actually pull it off.
