I Really Am A Villain
Chapter 1650 - Ancient Thunder God Qiangliang, Another Ancient God’s Legacy
The giant seemed as though he had been born from thunder itself, awakened from within the lightning.
As his eyes slowly opened, Xu Zimo felt his scalp tighten. He could clearly sense that his own power had stagnated, as though it had been locked down by some overwhelmingly powerful existence.
The Dao of Lightning within his body did not dare to stir in front of this being. Xu Zimo even felt an illusion. If he tried to attack the giant using thunder, his own Lightning Primal Dao would refuse to obey him.
It was only an illusion, yet the sense of oppression was undeniable.
This figure felt overwhelmingly powerful. Just sitting at the end of the path, he seemed to dominate all of heaven and earth.
Thunder roared as the giant slowly opened his eyes, and for an instant, the entire sky seemed to fall silent.
“So many years have passed… and someone has come again,” the giant said slowly. “It seems the temptation of the Oblivion Edict truly is extraordinary. But little one, with your strength, you should stop dreaming about touching that edict.”
“I entered here by accident,” Xu Zimo replied. He merely wanted to investigate the origins of this Dragon Sea; he knew nothing about any Oblivion Edict. But as he looked at the giant before him, he felt something oddly familiar.
And the giant seemed to feel the same.
“Have we met before?” Xu Zimo asked, frowning.
“We have not,” the giant shook his head. From the white tiger head he bore, a streak of thunderous light shot out from his eyes, falling directly upon Xu Zimo, as though trying to see through every part of him.
Xu Zimo’s hair stood on end. He felt a tremendous threat, as though he had been completely exposed.
“So that’s how it is,” the giant murmured softly.
Seeing Xu Zimo’s confusion, he continued, “Let me introduce myself. You may call me Thunder God Qiangliang.”
“Qiangliang?” Xu Zimo was stunned.
Thunder God? One of the Ancient Gods?
He had been chasing the legacies of the Ancient Gods all this time. Along the way he had obtained the inheritance of Fire God Zhurong, Water God Gongtu, Wood God Jumang, Wind God Tianwu, and Metal God Rushou.
Five of the Ancient Gods.
And now, he had actually encountered Thunder God Qiangliang.
More importantly, the one before him was the deity’s original body.
The Ancient Gods he had met before had been heirs or residual souls. He had never encountered a true Ancient God in the flesh.
That explained the immeasurable power before him.
For a being from the most ancient era of the gods to still exist to this day… unimaginable. Their lifespans were truly beyond comprehension.
Seeing Xu Zimo’s astonishment, Qiangliang explained, “Do not misunderstand. I am already long dead. What you see now is merely my divine corpse. I am no different from those living corpses outside.”
“How did senior end up here?” Xu Zimo asked curiously.
Qiangliang shook his head. “A long story.”
Xu Zimo did not press him, waiting quietly for the explanation.
“These matters were not something I intended to tell you,” Qiangliang said. “But since you are fated with the path of the Ancient Gods, I suppose there is no harm in letting you know. In my era, I had reached the end of my Thunder Dao. There was no further road ahead. The only thing left was to break through the void and walk my own path.”
“Senior sought to defy the heavens?” Xu Zimo asked.
“Yes and no,” Qiangliang replied with a shake of his head. “I wished to defy the heavens, but defying the heavens is not so easy. Even we Ancient Gods, standing at the peak of this world, could do nothing. We could only gaze at the distant firmament in awe. For the sake of defying the heavens, I prepared countless methods. This Oblivion Edict was one of the key things I sought to obtain.”
At this point, Qiangliang gave a bitter smile.
“But alas… fate does not always bend to one’s will. After entering the Abyss of the Oblivion Edict, I discovered I was trapped, unable to leave. The land of forgetting, the place where edicts are forgotten, where daos are forgotten, where even power itself is forgotten. Within this place, I cannot break free.”
Hearing this, Xu Zimo only half understood the meaning.
Qiangliang extended his hand, and a surge of powerful thunder wrapped around his arm. The deep violet lightning made Xu Zimo’s heart skip, this was a fatal threat. He could sense death emanating from it.
With a movement, Qiangliang hurled the thunder forward. It streaked through the air toward the heavens like a bolt tearing the sky apart.
But the explosion Xu Zimo expected never came.
Instead, the thunder was swallowed by the darkness.
“How is this possible?” Xu Zimo asked in shock.
“This space forgets everything,” Qiangliang said. “Your power can manifest within it, but cannot destroy it. That is why no one trapped here can leave. The Oblivion Edict erases all, destruction, shattering, annihilation. Even my thunder is forgotten here. At that time, I was trapped. I abandoned my physical form and left this place as a soul. Because of that… I never again attempted to defy the heavens.”
“Senior, would you be willing to pass your legacy to me?” Xu Zimo asked. “Name any condition.”
“What condition could a corpse trapped here possibly ask for?” Qiangliang said with a wry laugh.
Xu Zimo paused. But then Qiangliang smiled again. “Since you are fated with the Ancient Gods, giving you my legacy is no problem. But you must understand, if you cannot leave this place, the legacy is meaningless to you.”
“Whether I can leave is for later,” Xu Zimo said. “I wish to comprehend senior’s Ancient Thunder God Dao first.”
Leaving or staying would be for the future to decide. Right now, Xu Zimo could not pass up such a rare opportunity. The Ancient Gods’ Dao were invaluable to him.
He felt somewhat fortunate, entering this Abyss of Oblivion truly was a blessing and a curse intertwined. Without it, he would never have met Thunder God Qiangliang nor gained his inheritance.
“I can pass it to you,” Qiangliang said. “And there is something I would like you to do.”
Xu Zimo nodded, ready to listen.
“When I suddenly fell into this abyss, my connection with my clan was severed. I do not know how my descendants fare now,” Qiangliang said. “My request is simple. If you encounter my descendants in the future, protect them… for ten thousand years.”
Xu Zimo frowned slightly. The request was not difficult, Thunder God’s legacy was worth far more than that.
The only problem was how was he supposed to find the Thunder God’s descendants?
TL:
Fun flashback fact: Chu Yang used to have a legendary item called Oblivion Bead (later taken by Zimo and used to create his God World). He also obtained an inheritance related to the Dao of Oblivion (and Grand Dao of Yin-Yang) in Chapters 102-103 from the Forgotten Daoist and found a map related to inheritance of Grand Emperor Wang Chen (this title can also be translated as Oblivion Emperor).
