I really didn’t want to lead Ultra Star astray
Chapter 26 - A Deity?
Chapter 26: A Deity?
As if responding to the plight of the Meitz Star People, heavy rain began to pour from the sky. Torrents of rain drenched their bodies, yet no matter how hard it fell, it could not wash away the blood.
Mu Yang felt no comfort in his heart. He simply watched the scene in silence. Among humans, there also existed the saying, “Those not of my kin must have different hearts.” So then… was he still considered human? He felt somewhat lost.
Afterwards, he smiled faintly to himself. He wasn’t even a native of this Earth’s world to begin with—so why should he care? The Earthlings of this world were not a result of natural evolution. The original Earthlings had already been wiped out once by humans, and then further exterminated by Seven. In contrast, Mu Yang’s past life was that of a true Earthling—one who had evolved step by step.
The two were inherently different.
“They’re about to emerge!” Xiang Xiushu gazed into the distance. The shadow of Muruqi was already faintly visible, and at this moment, his heart, too, was heavy.
This tragedy should never have happened in the first place—especially the death of the Meitz Star People. It was something he found hard to let go of.
“You go up next,” Mu Yang let out a light sigh. “Honestly, I think the Land of Light should start engaging more in dialogue with humans. They ought to tell humanity more about the universe.”
Humans would never dare provoke the Ultras—after all, the Ultra Star housed countless Ultramen. Even if these Ultras weren’t the combat-type, they were not beings humanity could afford to offend. Aligning with them was the only viable path forward.
He just hoped that humans would refrain from courting death so often in the future.
Xiang Xiushu remained silent. In truth, they had always been trying to prevent such tragedies—but now, it seemed that perhaps it truly was time for some changes.
“I’ll leave Jiro to you, then,” Xiang Xiushu pulled Jiro over and addressed Mu Yang.
“Let’s go, Jiro,” Mu Yang sighed again, preparing to take Jiro with him and leave.
“You seem a bit lost too,” said a female voice after Mu Yang had walked some distance. The voice reached his ears, and Mu Yang turned his gaze towards it. He saw a young girl standing not far away, smiling at him.
Upon seeing her appearance, Mu Yang’s pupils constricted. “It’s you?” He immediately recognised the voice. But why was she here—and why did she look like that?
Mai-senpai? His two-dimensional waifu? Why was she appearing here? This was the Earth’s Will… but why had it taken on such a form?
“You’ve recognised me?” she said as she stepped closer.
“Why do you look like this?” Mu Yang frowned and asked with suspicion. This world shouldn’t even have a Sakurajima Mai. Was this just a coincidence?
What a pity—it was just a school uniform. If only it were the bunny girl outfit, that would be even better.
“Mu Yang-gege, who are you talking to?” Jiro asked curiously. Was Mu Yang-gege losing it? Or had the appearance of the monsters triggered something in him? He was talking to thin air!
“Huh? You can’t see or hear her?” Mu Yang asked, confused.
“See what?” Jiro looked at Mu Yang speechlessly. Was there anyone else here? Looks like once they got home, Mu Yang-gege would need a visit to the psychologist.
Word was that the psychiatric hospitals in Yingzhou had become especially popular lately. Quite a few had recently opened up. Every so often, there’d be people who were scared out of their minds by monsters and aliens—some went mad, and others developed permanent psychological trauma that couldn’t be resolved.
Thankfully, Mu Yang wasn’t aware of Jiro’s thoughts. If he knew, he might be scared half to death. Getting into a psychiatric hospital was easy—but getting out was another matter entirely. Even those without mental illness could be forcibly diagnosed and held by these so-called psychiatric experts.
“Only you can see me,” “Sakurajima Mai” explained to Mu Yang.
“I see,” Mu Yang sighed quietly. Perhaps he wasn’t the only one—if Xiang Xiushu were here, he might also be able to see the Earth’s Will.
“As for why I look like this—it’s your fault!” The Earth’s Will sounded somewhat resentful.
“Me?” Mu Yang was stunned. What did this have to do with him? He remembered that back then, he had only released a beam of light to help Earth awaken its own light. He didn’t think he had done anything unusual.
Could this really be some sort of avatar-creation game? Could he actually customise how it looked according to his preferences?
But quickly, Mu Yang abandoned that thought. This was Earth-chan—no matter how pretty she looked, no matter how much she resembled Sakurajima Mai—she was still just a “little broken ball.”
Other people might fall in love with heaven and earth, but would he really fall for the planet Earth?
“That light back then made me take this form!” Earth’s Will said irritably.
Mu Yang frowned. His light had caused this transformation? But in theory, his light should have been perfectly pure. Could it be that something unexpected had happened?
Thinking it over, Mu Yang decided not to dwell on it. Things had already come to this—what could he do, destroy the Earth’s Will?
Besides, she could technically be considered a friend now.
