Chapter 33: The King of Combat

“So powerful! He’s basically the King of Combat!”

The MAT team members couldn’t help but exclaim in awe as they watched Mu Yang effortlessly take down a space alien. His hand-to-hand combat skills were simply terrifying.

“He seems different from other Ultramen though. That looks like lightning?”

Someone nearby muttered in confusion. Since when did Ultramen stop using beams and start using lightning?

This was completely unorthodox.

The battle continued. Mu Yang actively turned off the BGM. While the background music indeed boosted his strength significantly, it also came with high energy consumption. Facing a powerful opponent like Black King, Mu Yang knew he had to take things seriously.

On the other side, Black King let out a furious roar. His master had just been killed by this Ultraman, which ignited his wrath even more. He charged at Mu Yang with great speed, swiping a claw straight toward Mu Yang’s face.

Mu Yang quickly raised his arm to block. Black King truly had power on par with the Ultra Brothers. A careless move could really lead to disaster.

A powerful impact travelled through Mu Yang’s wrist, forcing him to stagger back two steps. In terms of sheer strength, Black King might even surpass the Ultra Brothers. Unfortunately for him, his speed held him back. Perhaps his speed and agility were enough to deal with someone like Jack, but unfortunately for him, his opponent now was Mu Yang.

Previously, during the battle with the Nakel aliens, Black King had practically been acting as Mu Yang’s undercover ally. But now, facing Black King alone, things were far more difficult.

Mu Yang leapt high into the air, spun mid-air, and delivered a flying kick to Black King’s back before it could even turn around. But Black King merely stumbled forward two steps, seemingly unhurt.

Mu Yang created some distance between himself and Black King. Then, extending one hand forward, a beam of light condensed in his palm — forming a radiant, golden sword: the Blazing Radiant King Sword!

Holding the Blazing Radiant King Sword in one hand, Mu Yang twirled it twice in a flourish. During this time, he had been constantly training with a wooden sword. There was no question — compared to the wooden sword, this divine sword was on a completely different level. Though Mu Yang could wield the sword even in his human form, the feeling wasn’t the same.

Black King roared again, his stubby legs moving rapidly as he charged at Mu Yang once more, claws swiping fiercely.

Mu Yang quickly raised the sword to parry. His blade struck Black King’s claw, sending sparks flying. But even the mighty Blazing Radiant King Sword couldn’t sever Black King’s claw outright. It barely inflicted any significant damage.

Roar!

Black King staggered back two steps, growling in pain. Even with his thick hide and muscular body, the blow from the divine sword had clearly hurt — leaving visible sword marks on his claw.

Enraged, Black King opened his mouth and unleashed a scorching energy beam aimed directly at Mu Yang.

Mu Yang raised his sword to block.

The searing lava-like ray struck the Blazing Radiant King Sword and was completely deflected.

Mu Yang gritted his teeth, his energy blade flaring with even greater brilliance. This time, the light wasn’t just sword-shaped — it looked more like a concentrated beam cannon, aimed straight at Black King.

The Blazing Radiant King Sword, in Mu Yang’s hands, unleashed its full power. Its might rivalled even the ultimate attacks of other Ultramen. When the light beam struck Black King, it erupted in a thunderous explosion. Even the modified Black King couldn’t withstand such a powerful blast — his body was blown apart instantly.

Panting heavily, Mu Yang knelt on one knee, still gripping the sword. A trace of fear lingered in his heart. This was the first time he had unleashed the Blazing Radiant King Sword’s full power. Even with his current energy reserves, it had been a massive strain.

Thank goodness he didn’t have a colour timer — if he did, it would probably be flashing red like crazy by now.

“Was it defeated?”

The humans watching at the scene began to smile. Regardless of anything else, the alien and the monster had been taken down by an Ultraman. That was something to celebrate.

Mu Yang silently surveyed the surroundings, then vanished in a flash of golden light before everyone’s eyes.

However, this battle marked the first time everyone truly witnessed his overwhelming power — especially his terrifying close-combat skills. He was practically a King of Combat!

And it seemed like he didn’t really use energy beams. Even his final move looked more like a sword skill than a traditional beam attack.

An Ultraman who specialises in martial arts and swordplay?
