I Sell Bottled Water for Gold in Another World!
Chapter 96 96: Lesson taught
"Dad, I know I was wrong, I really am! Please don't hit me!" He clutched at his father's sleeve, his voice breaking as he begged. "I'll never do it again, I swear! Just forgive me this once time, please, Dad!"
"Now you know you were wrong?"
"Now you know how to beg for mercy?"
Rajan's voice shook with fury his chest rising and falling. "But it's too late!"
He glared at his son, then turned slightly as if speaking to Alex as well as the crowd.
"Since you've done something wrong, you must pay the price! I may have never taken part in your upbringing but still I am at fault for not developing your manners and spoiling you too much.
I have never laid a hand on you, thinking you'd grow up and learn some sense.
But I was wrong. A child left undisciplined will only become worse, and that failure is on me.
If you don't feel the consequences of your actions, you'll never learn what it means to do wrong!"
"I already apologized and you still want to hit me?" the boy seeing no way out shouted back, his face twisted with defiance once more.
"You're not worthy to be my dad! I want a different dad! If you dare hit me, I'll never call you father again!"
Rajan's face darkened at that completely, his anger which has subsided somewhat from seeing him plead over began to churn once again.
"You little brat… forget it...let's see if I don't straighten you out today!"
Without another word, he flipped the boy over and landed a sharp smack across his backside.
As the sound cracked through the air, and the boy's face contorted instantly at the pain.
"Waaah!" he howled, clutching his rear as the sting spread across his backside.
His eyes began to filled with tears, his arrogance began to shattered bit by bit.
"Dad! I was wrong! I was really wrong!" His voice broke into sobs as he wailed in front of the whole crowd.
"It's too late to beg for mercy now!
What were you doing just a moment ago?
Threatening me?
Not ever calling me a father?
Playing tricks on Mr. Carter?
Don't know if you ever grew up will you even dare to raise your hand against me?
No before that thought could even form in your mind I'll beat that thought out of you!"
Rajan's anger boiled over as he swung the stick again and again, each strike landing harder than the last.
The boy's backside quickly went from red to purple and his cries grew louder.
"Dad! I was wrong! Please, just spare me!"
The boy sobbed miserably, trembling with fear, feeling that if his father continued, he might actually beat him to death.
But Rajan showed no sign of stopping. The stick came down again and again, his frustration only feeding the blows.
"I won't dare do it again! I really won't! Please stop hitting me, Dad!"
The spoiled child, who had just been arrogant and defiant, now cried until his voice broke, his words filled with desperation.
The passersby gasped at the sight, but their expressions carried no sympathy.
Instead, murmurs of approval spread through the crowd, and soon some even shouted openly.
"Well done," Alex too continued to encourage Rajan from the back, "Teach him properly, or he'll never learn!"
"Well done? Bro you sure are enjoying yourself, aren't you?" one passerby couldn't help but say it aloud.
"Have you ever seen a devil before?" one passerby couldn't help but joke with his friend.
"No, but I have now," his friend chimed in without hesitation staring at Alex at the distance.
After all, wasn't it Alex who had casually handed Rajan the stick?
Without him, this beating would never have gone so far today.
"Mom! Please, come save me!" the boy finally screamed in desperation. "I'm being beaten to death! Save your precious son!"
Tears streamed down his face as he looked toward his mother, hoping she would intervene.
Hearing her son's wailing, the middle-aged woman's heart couldn't help but clenched.
"Husband, he's just a child! Why are you beating him like this? Do you want to kill him? Stop it right now!"
She rushed forward, trying to snatch the stick out of Rajan's hand.
"You still dare to say he's just a child?" Rajan glared at her with burning anger.
"He's already in elementary school! And look at the way he is behaving lawless, arrogant, no respect for anyone.
That's all your fault! You spoiled him rotten and now he's a disgrace to us!"
His tone grew colder. "I'll warn you once. If you dare stand in the way today, tomorrow I'll go straight to the court and file for divorce. I'll leave you with nothing."
The word divorce made the woman freeze on the spot.
She was nothing more than a housewife. She had no work experience, no income, no skills to speak of.
If he left her, her only option would be to take a low-paying factory job, breaking her back for pennies.
Since marrying him, she had lived comfortably, never knowing hardship. If she lost him now, that luxurious life would collapse overnight.
And she knew herself too well, she is already in her forties, her looks are already fading, whatever figure she has is now gone over the years.
Finding another man like Rajan, who at least provided a roof and food, would be almost impossible for her.
On top of that, her son had just scratched a Bentley, and Alex had already said the repairs cost $85k dollars.
If Rajan abandoned her now, she will be never able afford it.
Then she will only have one option left to her—Prison.
The thought made her tremble in fright.
Divorce was worse than losing her son, after all son can be birthed again but not the Husband.
She quickly lowered her head, her tone changing in an instant.
"Honey, I understand now," she said weakly. "You're right… he really has been spoiled by me."
Then, forcing a bitter smile, she stretched out her hand.
"But give me the stick first."
