I've Got A Mana Processor In A Magic World
Chapter 98: Building a Status Panel
CHAPTER 98: BUILDING A STATUS PANEL
Become a Lawbearer... like becoming a Lawbearer was so easy.
’Let’s take it one step at a time, huh, Aegis.’ Zephyr said. He knew it was true that he needed to get to that level of power for him to have a certain level of confidence in pointing out false realities. But that was ways away. For now there was nothing he could do except keep building his power while hoping that Sage Maximus did not have the time to place him in false realities as often.
’How’s the status screen coming along?’ Zephyr asked. ’You should have been able to get a little bit of accuracy from watching the spell power meter at the arena before I did that, no?’
Well, we couldn’t define the upper limits because of ’that,’ Aegis responded. ’But if we take your last spell as the upper limit, considering it was able to blast a hole through the dummy and destroy the meter itself in the process... I’d say we already have a standard of measurement.
Although, because of the upper limits, the power scaling between ’our’ levels one to hundred would be higher compared to the one at the arena... Aegis explained.
But I think this is good. The training rooms there seemed to cater only towards the lower tiers— Tiers 1-3.
’Oh, so that meter had a limit of normal Tier 3 powers here?’ Zephyr asked. ’That means my compressed fire blast spell has more power than a regular Tier 3 native spell?’
It would seem so, host.
’Hmm.’ Zephyr pursed his lips. He knew he should feel a bit happy about that, but he mostly didn’t think the native power system was a good judge for one to one comparisons. The fact that he as a fresh ’Exalted’ could break the threshold of normal Tier 3s here didn’t seem right to him. So he simply took it as though the regular Tier 3s here were the ones he should compare himself to as a Tier 1 ’Exalted’.
’Alright, Aegis. So let’s see the status panel.’ Zephyr sent a thought.
Okay, host. Displaying HUD status screen with vital spell information taking priority first.

Make no mistake, host. You’re a peak engineered genius. You’re just beginning your journey with spellcasting, so do not fret. All you need is time.
This is your first real try, and you still landed a hit on one of the strongest people you’ve met so far—false reality or not...
Zephyr’s lips couldn’t help but tug up in a smile. ’Are you trying to cheer me up, Aegis.’
I’m simply telling you a fact, host... cheering you up is the added benefit.
Zephyr pursed his lips in a wry smile. ’Aegis, you’ve been getting smoother with your words these days..." he chuckled.
Well, I’m hoping to serve you to the best of my abilities. Stating a few facts to remind you how awesom—
’Okay! Okay! Geez, Aegis. No cringey stuff.’ Zephyr almost laughed out loud. ’Man... let’s get back to the status panel.’ Zephyr refocused on the main issue.
’These are a lot of stats... Is Galestrike really my quickest spell to cast—? Oh. No it isn’t. There’s the regular fire spell too... but that isn’t an attack spell anyway. So Galestrike is still my quickest spell to cast— 0.77 seconds. Then the fire arrow, then the water jet... then the compressed fire fusion spell...’ Zephyr looked at that last one, 8.92 seconds. That was the deadliest spell in his arsenal by a wide margin. But it took a while to cast. Not many chances would pop up during a fight for him to cast that spell with full power. Except he did something like he had against the sage—firing it off without letting it build up well.
He needed to make more spells. More variations. Mainly focusing on casting time. So far with all his spells, even those that didn’t look so taxing, he noticed that no single one crossed below the 0.7s mark, almost like that was the cap of his origin clutch. He needed to embed the necessary processes in his mana node before he could improve and cross that threshold again. It might not seem like much, but every millisecond gain would be very helpful in a fight.
For now though, he couldn’t delve directly into that. He needed periods of rest in between each comprehension to recover his mental energy before having another go, to prevent any mishaps. So for now, he would focus on creating quick, but high-damage spells to build up his arsenal thoroughly.
’This is too much information though, Aegis.’ The panel was imposed onto Zephyr’s view of reality, like an Augmented Reality display right on his pupils. So the wall of text took up his entire view.
’I don’t need this much every time, so let’s just shorten it to the most needed and vital information at any given moment.’
Noted host. Here’s a more concise view. The wall of text immediately shrunk down.
’Wha—? This is too small, Aegis!’ Zephyr stared at the reduced text box. It was transparent and occupied a small area of his peripheral vision, only coming into focus whenever he brought his attention to it.
CURRENT STATUS

Mental Condition: Recovering(18%)
His mental condition value was displayed in red, while his physical condition was in orange. He got the implied meaning, but he still felt the status displayed way too little information.
This is your default status panel, host. There’s a different performance mode to unlock a different status panel. Try getting into a fighting state to see what happens...
