CHAPTER 391: FALL OF AN ALPHA? [9]

Click. CHING!

Viesta shot off another sound wave from her Sound Blaster. Usually, anyone who wielded this weapon and fired it off a couple of times would find themselves with a throbbing headache and ringing in their ears.

However, due to being able to control where the sound waves can echo to, she was able to nullify them from echoing back to her and the two behind her.

As the soundwave crashed into the Alpha, it found itself shoved back a few metres—as though it was hit with a minor tsunami.

This was due to Viesta’s [Echoing Force], which could even be applied to things like air and sound.

Once the three saw the Alpha become stunned by the soundwave, they worked in tandem and began chipping away at its armour.

Unfortunately, Lillian’s parasitic water had by now lost their effects. However, due to Zeke’s explosives—

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

—It was enough to make up for it, even if it was just a little.

As time went on, the gap in their teamwork quickly began to disappear and unconsciously formed a strategy.

With Zeke’s experience and invisibility, along with Viesta’s speedy support, they were able to support Millis, who began dealing the majority of the damage.

Zeke, who was firing the two rifles he wielded, watched as Millis led the monster away from them. His bullets fell accurately onto areas that had begun to expose the flesh of the beast.

However, when Millis had led it to a direction that caused them to be within its field of vision, Zeke felt an uncontrollable urge appear in each and every one of his limbs.

Viesta, who was prepared to save Millis or fire her Sound Blaster, felt something was off as she noticed the Alpha’s gaze on them.

She glanced towards Zeke and found him spasming to a degree where it looked painful.

Worry flashed through her eyes as the monster began to close in on them. Viesta hurriedly raised her Sound Blaster at the Alpha and held a finger over the trigger.

However, with Millis in the way, she couldn’t fire it, for fear that it could inflict serious injuries on the woman.

Luckily, she didn’t have to fire it, for she felt something sweep her off her feet and carried her off to the side with swift speed.

Zeke, who had regained control of his body, carried Viesta off to the side—narrowly avoiding the Alpha’s charge, who crashed through the wall behind them like a raging bull.

After lowering Viesta back to her feet, Zeke noticed the light around his body seemed to have become slightly dimmer. He cursed inwardly.

Once Millis reached their spot, they continued the fight, allowing Lillian some time to recover and rejoin the battle.

A few minutes had passed.

Zeke, who was thrown through the air with the help of Viesta, caught up with Millis and wrapped her in his invisibility spell.

Millis grinned and glanced at him, finding him breathing rather harshly. She then yelled in a joking manner, "You aren’t done yet, are you? Surely, your age hasn’t caught up yet!"

Zeke, having landed on a platform Millis had just created from the side of the wall, gave a low chuckle, "Not yet... I’m not that old yet."

Feeling a burning determination appear within his heart at her words, he straightened his breathing and stood up from his crouch.

Realising that his guns had run out of bullets, he chucked them into the air while simultaneously ejecting their magazines.

Then, with a swift motion, he summoned two new magazines and stuffed them into the rifles’ slots before catching them again.

And as they fought, their battle was recorded by the camera belonging to the drone, which hung in the air.

The mages who had left caught sight of the screen being back on and quickly returned. They watched as the battle unfolded with joy and excitement as they cheered.

"Hey, doesn’t one of them look familiar?" A mage pointed at Zeke, feeling as though he had just met him mere moments ago.

Some froze and focused their attention back, realising that Zeke was indeed familiar.

And when they found that it was the man who was in charge of allowing them entry, they cheered even harder as they didn’t believe that he could move that intensely with such vigour.

Brexten, along with the twins, widened their eyes at how well Zeke was moving. It wasn’t like how they had remembered him.

In the past, Zeke would always hide in the back with his only purpose being a way out of dangerous situations. He wasn’t a combatant at all!

And this was especially so with his Trait, which proved useless for someone like Zeke, who would never be hit unless he was foolish enough to.

Brexten then glanced down at the twins beside him. He had remembered that Zeke demanded that they buff him in exchange for the compensation that they would get back their money.

Could it be because of the buffs he was doing so well?

That... That could be the only reason for the man’s ability to fight on this long, especially with his damned Flaw...

"Yeah... That must be it..." Brexten said in a delusional manner, as he felt proud of his party members’ ability to boost someone as weak as Zeke to this level.

He was then brought back to reality as a large gasp exited everyone’s mouths.

As both Zeke and Viesta sprinted away from the charging Alpha, whose body was now riddled with both burn marks, dents, and deep scars, they found it suddenly stop in place.

Millis, who was leaping off the walls and attacking it from all sides, watched as it stopped in the middle of the room.

Confusion flashed through her eyes, along with a dark and foreboding feeling.

She then watched as the monster’s arms went limp by its side and its eyes darkened.

A grin spread across her lips.

Did they do it? Did they finally bring it down through blood loss?

...

Hanging onto the side of the wall, Millis quickly shielded her ear as the Alpha suddenly swung its upper body upwards and let out a savage roar.

Not one that spoke about its regrets and the nearing of its life... But one that spoke of frustration and rage.

Zeke, who was standing in place along with Viesta, watched as the Alpha swung both of its arms into the air. He widened his eyes as, with his mechanical eye, he watched as an absurd amount of mana had suddenly surged into its arms.

It was going in for a big attack!

Just like him, Millis discovered this immediately and yelled:

"GET OFF THE GROUND!"

Viesta, who was too slow to stun the Alpha, watched as in one third of a second—

BOOM!

—The Alpha struck the ground with a malicious glint in its eyes and caused the ground to erupt outwards.
