I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 195: Just Like the Bunny
CHAPTER 195: JUST LIKE THE BUNNY
The table reserved for the top members of the pack was empty and located a bit further from the rest, but it was by no means isolated. It was still in full view of the whole room. It was a dining room in a pack house, after all, accessible only to the members of the pack, with no outsiders (except for Felix, perhaps, but he was still considered a member, at least at the moment) present. Werewolf packs were all about community, so it would be against the pack spirit if the top members kept too much of a distance from the rest. Hierarchy was about respect, not unnecessary divisions, even at a pack like the Bloodmoon Pack.
And this so-called ’reserved’ table was also available for others, in a way. In fact, anyone could sit there... As long as they had the permission to do so, of course. For example, If one of the top members came to eat, and wanted to have some company, they might allow others to join them at the table. It wasn’t an uncommon practice...
As Felix soon found out. Not long after they had taken their seats by the table, a group of Omegas had approached them.
"Young Master Kade, nice to see you! Mind if I join you?" The Omega leading them, a twenty or so years old woman with long strawberry blond hair and pale green eyes, asked, flashing Kade a gentle, charming smile.
"Hi, Lyla," Kade returned the smile, although more polite and subdued than the one he had given the kitchen staff earlier. Flirting with the middle-aged Omegas who wouldn’t do anything more than blush and give him the nicest meal they could to show their affection was one thing, but when it came to young, eligible Omegas, he was much more careful. He didn’t want anyone to misunderstand his intentions, as it could be too troublesome.
He didn’t immediately give the Omega an answer, and instead, he glanced at Felix, silently asking him for his opinion. Did he want the Omegas to join them or not...?
Truth be told, Felix didn’t.
But, he still nodded his head.
Since they were eating in this dining room, they must have been the Omegas who lived in the main mansion. Which meant that they were among the more influential members of the pack, or at least their parents were. Felix had to get acquainted with them sooner or later, and there was no reason why it couldn’t be now... And on top of that, if Kade refused them because of Felix, then Felix would be getting on their bad side from the start.
Kade’s eyes darkened slightly at Felix’s response. He was also unwilling to let the Omegas join - why would he, when they would only disturb him during his precious time with his future cute little mate? However, since Felix agreed, he put his smile back on, and said, "Alright then!"
The Omegas didn’t have to be told twice. They grabbed their trays and moved to the table...
Their plates were still half full, but there was no steam rising up from their cups or food. On top of that, some of the dishes looked a tad dry... If Felix were to guess, they had been sitting in the dining room since early morning, barely nibbling on their food, as they waited for Kade to appear.
...Honestly, he didn’t know if he should pity them, command them for their patience and dedication, or be freaked out by their obsession. He kind of felt all of it at once.
"So," Lyla started the conversation again. "I don’t think I’ve seen him around before... Might I ask who he is?"
Her green eyes were focused on Felix, but she spoke to Kade.
As if she couldn’t just ask Felix directly. Whether that was to diminish his presence, or simply because she wanted to talk to Kade more, Felix didn’t know, but it came out a bit insulting. If her goal was to rile Felix up, though, she was going to be very disappointed.
Because Felix didn’t care, not at all. He was more than used to this, and worse, from all the years he had spent in the Moonhill Pack. He just bit into his omelette wrap, enjoying the taste, and left the conversation to Kade to deal with. Since Lyla wanted to speak to the Alpha, then why not let her do it?
...It was a mistake.
Kade smiled in response. A wide, pleased grin, as if he was endlessly happy to be asked about Felix.
"He’s my potential future mate," he announced proudly.
Almost causing Felix to choke.
Potential future mate? Who, him? That’s not the story they had agreed on!
But Kade’s smile only widened under Felix’s warning glare.
"We already have a pup together, you see," he explained, pointing at Vivi with his chin. "So, while it’s not certain yet... Doesn’t that make him a strong candidate?"
Felix’s face darkened. He knew he should have never agreed to it! Of course, Kade was still saying he was only a ’potential’ mate, at the very least... But praising him for it would be like setting the bar on the ground, if not lower. It was the bare minimum.
He was thinking whether he should protest and argue about it now, or if it was better to leave this conversation for later... But, before he could even make any decision, Lyla spoke up again.
"Oh, is that so?" She tried to sound polite, but her voice was obviously strained, and her eyes twitching. "Well, that’s nice... But who exactly is he?"
"His name is Felix," Kade introduced him. "And our pup is named Vivi."
"Felix?" one of the other Omegas suddenly spoke up. "That’s just like my... I mean, Young Master’s bunny..."
This Omega was, of course, Elsie, the poor previous owner of the bunny, who had her pets snatched (well, kind of, if you ignore the fact that she had placed the bunny in Kade’s room herself), from her.
Lyla’s eyes widened, as she suddenly recalled it. Since it wasn’t her pet, he didn’t immediately realize it, but now that Elsie had said it... Kade’s pet bunny was indeed also called ’Felix’. But it wasn’t the name he had given it. Elsie, the original owner, had named the bunny...
If the mother of Kade’s pup was also named ’Felix’, then it might explain why Kade had ’adopted’ the bunny. It couldn’t possibly be because of Elsie, since he had shown no other signs of being attracted to her...
But that had been months ago. Was Kade and this ’Felix’ already together then? Well, they had a few-month-old pup together, so it must have been a fairly long affair...
Still, it was utterly confusing. Kade was interested in that Omega enough to snatch a pet with the same name, but they weren’t mated yet. They had gotten intimate and had a pup together, but the Omega didn’t come to the pack until now. There were many odd points to this story. And the most curious thing...
"So, Felix," she smiled, addressing Felix for the first time. "What pack are you from?"
