I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 229: Say It Again
CHAPTER 229: SAY IT AGAIN
Jared stayed at the Bloodmoon Pack for two more days.
Why? Because of Einar’s invitation. Since Jared had suffered a lot from the effects of the curse, Einar suggested he should stay a bit longer to rest and recuperate.
Why? Because Kade had asked him to do so!
...Of course, there were no good intentions behind Kade’s request. Although the Alpha kept his reasons ambiguous, only smiling devilishly whenever Felix asked, Felix had no doubt that it couldn’t have possibly been out of the goodness of Kade’s heart. After all, Kade also detested Jared, even if for the sole reason that Jared was bonded with Felix.
It was on the second day that Kade popped out into Felix’s room with his old nanny in tow.
"It’s the last day Jared Thorne is in our pack," he said, barely suppressing his satisfied grin. "Would you like to come with me to bid him goodbye?"
Felix lifted his brows, looking up from the children’s book that he was reading to Vivi.
To bid Jared goodbye? No, not at all! But there was no way that Kade would even ask him to meet that wretched Alpha without a good reason. There must have been more to it. Perhaps he wanted to try breaking the bond once again, this time in private? If it were just the three of them present, then they could try as many times as they wanted, pointless or not.
So, he let out a sigh, and closed the book. "Alright. Let’s go," he said, handing Vivi over to the nanny.
Kade’s grin widened. For some reason, he seemed very excited... Excessively so. He was barely able to contain himself. It was suspicious...
But Felix only shrugged his shoulders, and followed the man. It’s not like any harm would come to him. If anything, it was Jared who should be worried.
Soon, they arrived at the guest house, where Jared was staying. In one of the medium-class rooms, which was better than someone of his status would usually get in the Bloodmoon Pack. Of course, all the guest rooms were so good that no one would complain, even if they were assigned the smallest, least luxurious quarters... But, since Jared was the leader of Felix’s former pack, he got better treatment. Just for the sake of appearances, in order to elevate Felix’s own status.
The room, however, looked a bit different than usual... Primarily because there was a lot of foil spread around, and plenty of bowls everywhere. The reason? Because Jared was throwing up the black, viscous sludge...
Again.
Felix’s brows furrowed in confusion. Remi had said that the potion would last for UP to four days, so it was possible for it to wear off sooner... But it’s only been two days since Jared had drunk it. Only half the time. Wasn’t it a bit too fast?
However, everything soon became clear, when Kade pulled out a glass bottle from his pocket. It was a very familiar glass bottle... With the pale blue mist clinging to it, that is the spell that preserved the contents. There was still over half of the liquid left, sloshing around in the bottle as Kade shook it in front of Jared’s eyes...
Was that it? Had Kade made Jared stay in the Bloodmoon Pack longer, because he was waiting for the effects of the potion to wear off?
Well... Felix had to admit that it was rather amusing. Cruel, but extremely satisfying.
Jared’s eyes widened in recognition at the sight of the bottle. "Ah!" he called out...
And that was all. He couldn’t really say much, because the moment he opened his mouth, thick, black liquid started dripping down his chin. As an Alpha and a leader of the pack, he naturally couldn’t allow himself to look so pathetic in front of Felix and the heir to another pack.
Of course, he looked absolutely pathetic anyway, no matter how hard he tried to cling to his pride, but still. He seemed to not have been fully aware of it. There was a mirror in the room, but not quite within his sight.
Either way, he didn’t say anything, only focused his eyes on the glass bottle in Kade’s hand...
"Do you want it?" Kade asked, teasing Jared, as he shook the bottle once more. He even uncorked it, so that the scent of the antidote would fill the air in the room. Jared had already taken it in once before, only two days prior, so he knew exactly how it smelled and what its effects were.
As expected, once the smell hit his nostrils, Jared grew even more agitated. Although he already knew that it wasn’t a permanent antidote, that didn’t matter at the moment. As long as it could stop him from throwing up the black liquid... He had already fainted from it earlier, and at this rate, he would soon faint again. So, he hesitated only for a second, before pressing his lips with determination, and nodding his head.
"Good wolfie," Kade smiled wickedly. "Now, if you want a treat, what do you say?"
Jared threw Kade a dark look, but still muttered, "Ple... please..."
Unfortunately for him, Kade wasn’t satisfied. "Tut, tut, tut," he shook his head. "That’s good, but that’s not it. You know what I want from you, don’t you?"
Jared stared at Kade for a moment, genuinely confused. Soon, however, an idea started slowly unveiling in his mind. He glanced at Felix, then back at Kade, and at Felix again...
In the conference room, nothing had been revealed, since Kade had taken Felix away before the Omega could say anything. But Jared hadn’t thought that Felix would inform Kade about their bond not being broken at all, since it could potentially make things difficult for him... After all, if Felix remained bonded to Jared, even after clear rejection, that might complicate his and Kade’s relationship. And even if Kade was into Felix... He could do better. So why would he cling to an Omega he could never fully have? It was already weird enough that he had taken a liking to a runaway from a medium-sized pack.
But... It seemed that he might have been wrong?
Jared turned his eyes to Felix again. The Omega’s expression was unreadable, though, so it was impossible to tell what he was thinking. Was he waiting for Jared to try to reject him again, or was he hoping that the Alpha wouldn’t say anything in front of Kade?
Either way, Jared opened his mouth again, and trying his best to suppress the gagging (and failing), he started repeating the same phrase, "I, Jared Thorne..."
