I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 249: Hop In
CHAPTER 249: HOP IN
Since Remi hadn’t sensed any magic being used by anyone during Felix’s match with Julien, then that must have been so. Felix trusted the fox, at least in that aspect. Remi had no reason to lie to him about it, and as for his abilities to sense magic... He had even sensed the lingering magic traces after his mother had secretly stopped by to talk to Felix back in Silverfall, even though Agnes tried to conceal it, so his sensitivity must have been great. Felix had no magic abilities on his own and still didn’t know all that much about the spells, so he couldn’t make a good, informed assessment, but he had confidence in Remi (when it came to his abilities as a witch, at least).
So, he dismissed the issue. Although it did seem rather... odd, perhaps Julien simply blanked out from exhaustion. They had been playing for so long, it was possible that he had lost his focus for a moment. And that golden light? Felix wasn’t even sure if he had really seen it. He and Julien had only made eye contact for a split second. It all happened so quickly, and Felix’s attention was mainly on the ball, so it was possible that it was just a trick of the light. No one else seemed to have seen anything odd.
Of course, that didn’t mean that he had forgotten about it completely, but he pushed it to the back of his head. There was no need to overthink every tiny detail.
"Alright. That’s all I wanted to ask for now," he said with a sigh, finally putting Remi down. "You see, it wasn’t so hard, now was it? There wasn’t any need to pretend to be asleep, was it?"
Remi only swished his tail in response, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. Yes, it wasn’t hard this time... But it could have been! There were many things that Felix could ask about that would put Remi on the spot. Since Remi didn’t know how to handle them yet (honestly, was there even a way to resolve it with just talking? What they needed the most was time, so that Remi could prove himself to Felix, so that the Omega could once again feel fully safe with him), he would much rather just play the role of a ’pet’ fox for now...
Felix sighed once again, and lay back down, fixing the quilt. Now that he had the answers for what he was most concerned about at the moment, he just wanted to go to sleep. Although he didn’t have to get up in the morning or anything like that, he was simply tired and needed proper rest.
...But how could he sleep when there was a pair of piercing blue eyes staring at him intently? Even though Felix’s eyes were closed, he could feel the tingly gaze on his skin.
"What do you want?" he asked, glancing at Remi. The fox was sitting right next to him on the bed, right where Felix had put him, as if waiting for something expectantly.
It wasn’t hard for Felix to guess what the fox wanted. They had been living together for over a year, after all, he knew Remi all too well... At least in some aspects.
"Fine," he said, lifting the quilt a bit to create the opening for the fox. "Hop in."
The fox was probably going to sneak underneath once Felix fell asleep anyway. And Felix also slept better with this jasmine-scented bed warmer next to him (as long as Remi wasn’t stealing his blood in his sleep), so there was no need for him to disagree.
Remi didn’t have to be told twice. The moment the quilt had lifted, he instantly dove underneath, disappearing from view, and turning into nothing but a small bulge. He scooted close to Felix, cuddling to his side, as he subtly released some of his jasmine pheromones. They had a calming effect, which made Felix feel even more relaxes and sleepy... Before he knew he knew it, he was already falling asleep.
But then he sensed something. Just as his consciousness was about to completely drift away, he felt his waist tingle. It was soft and furry...
His eyes snapped open once again, and with one swift move, he peeled off the quilt, exposing most of his body.
Most of his body, and also the fox, who had pushed Felix’s pajama top up, and had been trying to crawl underneath Felix’s clothes.
"Remi!" Felix called out, reproaching the fox.
Remi’s ears twitched, which was still visible, even though his head was hidden underneath Felix’s top, because the clothes moved ever so slightly together with the ears. Other than that, though, the fox showed no other reaction.
He was pretending to be asleep once again.
Felix was completely at a loss for words. He had just caught the fox on pretending to be asleep like what, not even ten minutes prior? And yet, Remi was trying to pull the same trick again! And on top of that, Felix had allowed him to get underneath the quilt, and the fox almost immediately took the opportunity to climb underneath his clothes? Truly, give him a finger, and he’ll take a whole hand! How shameless!
...Still, a moment later, he let out a long sigh, and covered them both with the quilt.
It wasn’t that he liked the fox sneaking underneath his clothes, not at all! It was just that he was too tired to deal with it.
Yes, that was definitely it.
There were no other thoughts in his mind.
He closed his eyes, and tried to FINALLY fall asleep. Even when he felt Remi stir again, trying to find a more comfortable position on Felix’s bare chest, he didn’t react. After all, what was the point of trying to ’train’ a ’pet’ that was pretty much untrainable? Not to mention, Remi was not only not a pet, but he was even older than Felix!
No, it wasn’t Felix’s responsibility to fix him. Felix ignored the thumping in his chest, and eventually, after what felt like forever, he drifted away...
