CHAPTER 261: TELL YOUR PARENTS

"You need to tell your parents first."

Felix’s voice was oddly calm. So calm that he was even a bit surprised himself. Perhaps it was because he was already so used to things not going his way, but his emotions had all fizzled out as he had been waiting for Kade, and now he had reached the stage of acceptance. Whatever was going to happen, was going to happen. He’d find a way to deal with it.

But Kade wasn’t so calm about it. He scowled, muttering under his nose with displeasure, "It’s not like he has any proof."

That was true, but...

"He would be able to prove it, if he really wanted to," Felix pointed out.

To say that the method to prove the fated mate bond was rarely used would be an understatement, but that didn’t change the fact that such a method DID exist. If Felix’s father was determined to bring his son back to the Moonhill Pack even at the risk of displeasing the Bloodmoon Pack’s leadership, it was quite likely that he would be willing to take things that far, causing a lot of stir.

Kade wasn’t convinced, though. "Would he really?" he asked, lifting his brows. "If you mean the ’tracking the mate’ method, then I’m not sure if it would work. Jared Thorne would probably pass out along the way from the curse."

"Ah..." Felix paused. Kade had a point. If Jared got close enough to him to be able to sense his presence, he would start throwing up black sludge, and would be unable to proceed. However... "He would still be able to point out the correct direction. Not to mention, if we refuse to procure the antidote for the sake of the test, it would make us look suspicious. Wouldn’t that pretty much prove that we are trying to conceal the fact that he is my fated mate?"

Kade scowled again. Indeed, it would look suspicious. And if a pack that was hostile towards the Bloodmoon Pack, like the Misty Claw Pack for example, decided to support Wilder and Jared, then the situation would escalate, and it would become nearly impossible for him to keep Felix in the Bloodmoon Pack...

"Fine," he eventually said with a heavy sigh. "I will talk with my parents about it. I guess it will make it easier to get rid of him with their help..."

"Get rid of whom?"

Kade flashed a wide grin. "Jared Thorne, of course!"

"..." Felix didn’t say anything in response. He couldn’t tell whether Kade was being honest or not.

Not that he minded if he truly WERE being honest. Killing one’s enemies was a relatively common thing in the werewolf world. And if Jared were to die, he would at least finally be free from that damned fated mate bond... He had not a shred of positive feelings towards the man, so he had no reason to oppose.

He let out a sigh, and pulled his wrist off of Kade’s hand to go pick up Vivi, since they were supposed to go have dinner, and he still didn’t feel entirely comfortable leaving her alone with Remi, with everything he knew about his curse. It wasn’t that he thought that the fox would do anything bad to her, but better safe than sorry, he simply couldn’t put her at any risk, no matter how he personally felt about the fox. He leaned down over the crib, carefully trying to entangle the pup’s little hands from the soft, red fur...

"Why does he want to bring you back so badly, thought?" Kade asked all of a sudden. "Your father, I mean. Wouldn’t it be good for him and the Moonhill Pack if you were to become my mate?"

Felix glanced back at him, before shrugging his shoulders. "I don’t know."

"You don’t have any ideas? What did he say to you?"

"Don’t you know it already?"

"Huh?" Kade blinked, a bit confused.

Felix let out an exasperated sigh. Partially because he was tired of the topic, but mainly his sigh had been directed at Remi. The fox had now been freed from Vivi’s clutches, but instead of running away, he was trying to climb onto Felix’s arms instead! Felix couldn’t pick his daughter up, because the sneaky fox kept getting in his way.

"Isn’t his guest room bugged?" he asked, or more like stated, without even looking back. "You should be able to listen to the whole conversation yourself."

"Ah, I didn’t get to listen to it yet." Kade didn’t deny it. "I just thought it would be better to hear it directly from you..."

It was a... nice sentiment, you could say, but Felix felt otherwise. If it was anything else, then perhaps he would have agreed, but when it came to the topic of his father, he didn’t want to talk about it any more than he had to. So, he simply stated, "Just listen to it first. We can talk about it later, if you have any questions."

Then, he pushed Remi away, finally securely grabbed Vivi, and lifted her up, leaving the fox whining in the crib alone. Not for long, of course, because the moment Felix had turned away, Remi swiftly jumped out, and in the blink of an eye, he climbed up the leg of Felix’s jeans, up his torso, and up his shoulders.

And Felix couldn’t really do anything about it. After all, he could hardly try to pull the fox away when he was holding Vivi.

He sighed again helplessly, although this time, with a bit of amusement. "We’re going to the dining room now. There are going to be a lot of werewolves around. Do you really want to be spotted like that?" he asked.

Remi stirred on his shoulders uncomfortably. As a fox, he wasn’t particularly fond of werewolves... With one exception. Well, two, because he was also fine with Vivi. That’s not to say that he was afraid of the rest of them or anything... But as a proud fox, how could he possibly enjoy the company of stupid, smelly wolves?

He swished his tail, hesitating. Eventually, he released a bit of his pheromones, leaving the jasmine fragrance on Felix, before jumping off and going to curl up on the bed.

Fine, he would let Felix go alone.
