Immortal Creed
Chapter 194: Captain Jay
"Mr. Heier?"
Jay, the Adventurer Group Leader, who felt a bit uneasy under Liens's gaze, carefully called out.
"I just arrived in Korlot, so I haven't found a place to stay yet. If the Adventurer Group Leader could provide a residence, that would be excellent."
"For that, I would be very grateful to the Adventurer Group Leader."
Liens responded with a smile.
Hearing this, Jay, the Adventurer Group Leader, breathed a sigh of relief. From Liens's attitude, at least he didn't have to worry about the Great Knight having a bad personality.
"You humble me… I cannot bear to be called 'sir' by you."
"Since that's the case, we'll arrange a room for you as soon as possible. Please wait a moment. Oh… I was so nervous, I forgot to ask you to sit down. Please don't take offense."
"Please sit on the sofa and rest for a bit. I'll have someone prepare your room right away."
After Jay, the Adventurer Group Leader, finished speaking, he quickly walked out of the room, leaving Liens alone.
Liens walked to the sofa, then sat down, and his body instantly sank into the soft cushions.
"It's quite comfortable. It seems this Divine Wind Adventurer Group is quite wealthy. But then again, it's a large Adventurer Group; without money, they wouldn't be able to support so many people."
Liens said softly.
After speaking, he comfortably lay on the sofa and enjoyed himself, listening to the shouts from Captain Jay, which even the walls couldn't block.
"Faster, faster, even faster…"
After a while, Captain Jay, with a lingering flush on his face, entered the meeting room, then quickly walked up to Liens and said:
"Your room has been prepared. Would you like to see it now, or later?"
"Oh, I've already told my subordinates to arrange a banquet. It would be wonderful if you could attend."
"Thank you very much for Captain Jay's kindness, but there's no need for such a grand reception."
Liens shook his head, indicating refusal.
He was just hitchhiking; getting a little special treatment because of his strength was one thing, but having the other party go to such lengths to prepare a banquet for him was a bit much.
He wasn't so arrogant yet as to accept this grand hospitality with a clear conscience.
"You're too polite… With your strength, you're a prominent existence wherever you go. A little hospitality is merely our duty."
"Therefore, please give us an opportunity to serve you wholeheartedly."
Captain Jay respectfully said to Liens.
Watching Captain Jay seriously utter words like 'I want to improve,' Liens couldn't help but feel a little speechless.
This person was clearly very wary of his presence, yet he still pretended to go out of his way to curry favor with him.
"Alright, let's go with Captain Jay's arrangements."
"Roughly when will the banquet be? If it's ready soon, I'll wait here."
Liens said.
It was free anyway; since the other party insisted, he might as well go and enjoy it. He hadn't eaten lunch yet, and he could also see what kind of tricks the other party would pull.
"The banquet will take some time to prepare the food… Mr. Heier, please rest first. When it's ready, I'll have someone notify you."
Captain Jay replied.
After speaking, he personally led Liens to the newly prepared room.
The room was nice; at first glance, it felt very spacious, and the overall decor was very luxurious and exquisite, with soft red carpets on the floor, exuding a luxurious aristocratic style everywhere.
Of course, Liens was too lazy to care about such a design, which was purely to highlight luxury.
After sending off Captain Jay, he directly lay down on the soft, large bed and entered the Instance.
The scene shifted to a few moments later.
Liens arrived at the previous office.
At this moment, Lottie had just left, and only he and Captain Jay remained in the room, silent.
"Captain Jay."
Liens called out Captain Jay's title, breaking their silence.
"I'm listening. What can I do for you, Mr. Heier?"
Captain Jay responded cautiously.
"Captain Jay should be a Knight of the Purification stage, right? I wonder if the Adventurer Group Leader is interested in sparring with me?"
Liens asked with a slight smile.
"Uh… Mr. Heier is joking. How could I be qualified to spar with you… However, it would be my honor to receive your guidance."
Captain Jay gave an awkward, bitter smile.
He originally wanted to refuse, after all, for no good reason, he didn't want to fight anyone, especially not a fight he couldn't win.
But seeing Liens's serious gaze, he knew this fight was unavoidable.
As for gaining insights by fighting someone of a higher realm and then advancing further.
Just think about it.
If he truly had such talent, why would he be stuck in the Purification realm, unable to comprehend the 'activity' of Elements?
What he needed now was a crucial insight, not a pointless battle. Moreover, it wasn't as if he hadn't received guidance from a Great Knight before.
"However, this inn doesn't have a dedicated sparring area."
First seen on *.
"So, please wait a moment. I'll have someone clear out a special space in the lobby on the first floor."
Captain Jay continued.
"No need, right here… You should pick up your sword."
Liens drew the longsword from his hand, pointed it at Captain Jay, and said calmly.
"Isn't this a bit cramped… Alright, since you insist, then here it is."
Knowing he couldn't argue with Liens, Captain Jay couldn't help but show a helpless expression.
Then, he walked to the office desk and retrieved his weapon from underneath.
It was a broad-bladed two-handed sword.
From the patterns on the two-handed sword, it was at least a finely forged Demonized Weapon, and given his status, this Demonized Weapon should be much better than the longsword in his hand.
However, the Demonized Weapon would bridge that gap.
"Are you ready?"
Liens saw Captain Jay, a few steps away, already in position, and asked for confirmation.
Captain Jay nodded, indicating he was ready.
"Clang!"
Instantly, Liens had lunged in front of Captain Jay.
The longsword, imbued with Wind Element and a Demonized Weapon, pierced the blade of the two-handed sword at a speed imperceptible to the naked eye.
Relying on his own strength, Captain Jay steadily blocked the attack, but his face showed no joy, instead becoming even more serious.
Because he couldn't see clearly…
He couldn't see how that longsword had pierced his blade, and even Liens's approaching figure seemed somewhat blurry.
"Is this the speed of a Wind Great Knight?"
A thought flashed through Captain Jay's mind.
He had fought a Great Knight before; perhaps the opponent hadn't used their full strength then, so he could barely take a few moves.
But this one… his speed was too fast, so fast that only his instinctive reaction from swordsmanship could slightly respond.
Although the strength wasn't as strong as expected, this speed alone was enough to utterly defeat him.
Moreover, the previous attack seemed to have been aimed at the blade, so, the question is...was he holding back?
That's right, that sword strike just now was Liens's reminder to Captain Jay.
During the lunge, he noticed that Captain Jay's gaze wasn't on his figure at all, realizing that his opponent lacked in perception.
Therefore, he held back, not attacking his vital parts, nor even stabbing his body.
Ending the battle like this would be too boring for him.
However, after realizing the upper limit of Captain Jay's strength, his interest in the first Purification Knight he encountered greatly diminished.
The opponent was at most comparable to Nimophila, and possibly even inferior to Nimophila.
To test the opponent's exact level and set a standard for the strength of Purification Knights he would encounter in the future.
Liens gradually slowed his speed, eventually maintaining a level roughly equal to the other party.
Then, he gave up using the power of 'momentum' and the ability of 'Element Blessing,' relying on the longsword imbued with 'Demonized Weapon' and pure swordsmanship to fight Captain Jay, who was significantly stronger than him in physical strength.
Noticing Liens's actions, Captain Jay realized that the Great Knight in front of him was holding back, possibly wanting to test his strength.
Although he felt a bit looked down upon, he wasn't a young man and wouldn't feel too aggrieved by it.
He even felt a slight relief that he wouldn't be utterly defeated directly.
Only a back-and-forth battle like this could ignite some passion; otherwise, who would enjoy being purely abused?
Thinking this, Captain Jay dared not be negligent and tried his best to display his strength.
If someone is holding back so much, and you still don't wholeheartedly give them a good experience…
Isn't that slapping them in the face?
Especially when this person is someone you can't afford to offend… Wouldn't slapping them in the face lead to an even worse situation?
Therefore, Captain Jay dared not be anything but serious.
Even as his wounds gradually increased and deepened, he didn't dare to concede.
Because Liens's attacks hadn't stopped, indicating that he still wasn't satisfied.
At this point, if he were to interrupt the 'Great Knight's' interest… then, what awaited him might not just be minor injuries.
The commotion in the room had long attracted the attention of the Divine Wind Adventurer Group members standing guard outside the door.
When they saw Liens attacking their Adventurer Group Leader, they wanted to go and 'protect' him, but they were immediately stopped by Captain Jay.
And as Captain Jay's injuries increased, the number of Divine Wind Adventurer Group members outside the door also gradually grew.
However, none of them interfered in the ongoing battle.
Aside from having some self-awareness, it was also because the other high-ranking members of the Divine Wind Adventurer Group had stopped them.
