Immortal Creed
Chapter 286: Doubts
Night.
"Hm?"
Liens awoke from his meditation, his brow furrowing slightly.
"So soon...? It seems Liens has been waiting for a long time, so he doesn't plan to give me much time."
Liens took out the 'Oak Amulet' Robert had given him and whispered.
At this moment, this amulet, which seemed to bring good luck, was glowing faintly, as if reminding him of something, but in reality, it had no function of glowing to remind.
Liens knew this was fate using the amulet to give him a revelation.
And the reason for fate's interference was probably that another battle between him and Alfred would soon arrive.
With his current 'slow' progress in refining The will of all people, he wouldn't be able to reach a level where he could contend with or put enough pressure on Alfred before the decisive battle arrived.
So fate intended to give him a boost.
With a thought, Liens got up and walked out of the house.
Fate's revelation was not something he could obtain by meditating in his room; it required experiencing something, just like fables, which always convey a certain truth through trials.
Liens didn't feel any aversion to this; if his emotions hadn't been suppressed, he might have felt some dissatisfaction with his fate being controlled and his freedom restricted.
But now, he was too lazy to consider such meaningless things.
Not to mention that fate's revelation was beneficial to him; even if it were a cannonball wrapped in candy, he would have to eat it.
Given the disparity between him and 'Fate,' any talk of resisting fate would only be a joke; only by becoming stronger could he truly control his own fate.
Perhaps understanding this mindset, Fate bothered not to beat around the bush and gave him a direct indication.
"How rare, to see you put down your cultivation. Have you encountered some insurmountable problem?"
In the corridor, Lucrezia saw Liens's figure, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes, then a smile appeared on her face as she walked forward and greeted Liens.
This was the corridor of the Charles Family manor.
Before joining the Rebel Army, the Charles Family was similar to the Glenbagen Family, being the actual controllers of Patridge City.
Even now, having handed over political power to the Rebel Army, the Charles Family still possessed unimaginable wealth for ordinary people, as well as powerful strength to protect this wealth.
It could be said that a part of the reason the front-line Rebel Army could stalemate with the Kingdom for so long without facing food shortages was the support of former nobles like Donahue.
Of course, under the might of the Rebel Army, those nobles who did not support them also successfully aided the Rebel Army's cause with their family's heritage.
As the host of Patridge City, Donahue naturally wouldn't let Liens and the others sleep at the construction site, but instead arranged for them to stay in the family's manor.
Hearing the call, Liens turned to look at Lucrezia; although it was night, she was still wearing her daytime clothes, as if she had just returned from finishing her work and hadn't had time to change.
"Your gaze holds contemplation, as if you truly have a question to ask me. Tell me, I'm very curious what kind of problem could perplex you so much?"
Lucrezia continued to ask.
Before, she was always the one seeking Liens for answers, but now, looking at Liens, it seemed it was her turn to enlighten him.
"My expression shouldn't have changed much, how did you see that I had doubts in my heart?"
Liens was a little puzzled.
Upon hearing this, Lucrezia maintained her smile, took a few steps forward, leaned her body, and slightly tiptoed on her straight legs, whispering into Liens's ear:
"What if I told you I sensed the doubt in your heart, and so I specifically waited for you here? Would you believe me?"
Her soft breath massaged his eardrum, and Liens could feel a soft object pressing against his chest.
This reminded him of Nimophila; in her passionate phase, she was also like this, liking to use this method to provoke his will, and then she herself would be unable to resist shyness first, running away with a flushed face.
"Achoo!"
"Who's talking bad about me?"
"Could it be that the teacher is using me as an example again to urge other students? No way, I've already been diligently carrying out my tasks."
"Or is it Liens... This guy, I don't know what he's doing. He's only been out for ten days, and he's already encountered two Life-threatening situations. It's really worrying."
"Sigh, I miss you... When can you come back to visit, or send some news."
Nimophila mumbled, but her hands didn't stop moving, skillfully tinkering with the instruments and bottles on the table.
Before long, a bottle of emerald green, yet blood-streaked, alchemical solution appeared.
"Mirror Pupil."
Looking at the alchemical solution in her hand, Nimophila's expression was serious, and she whispered, then her eyes glowed with spiritual light, as if empowered, meticulously scanning the solution before her.
From time to time, she would also record the data of this alchemical solution on a notebook beside her.
"Knock knock knock~"
A few knocks sounded at the door.
"Please come in."
Nimophila put down her paper and pen, turning to look outside the door. Although she hadn't yet seen the visitor's figure, she had already sensed the visitor's aura.
The visitor was not an ordinary person, so there was no need to activate the illusion array to hide the instruments in the room.
Creak.
Having received permission, the person outside gently pushed open the door and entered the room, and a pretty figure also appeared in Nimophila's line of sight.
"Teacher Atel, it's so late, is there something you need to see me about?"
Nimophila smiled kindly and asked Atel, who was still wearing a tight-fitting outfit late at night.
"Teacher Nimophila, I do have some doubts I'd like to ask you about. After Teacher Heier left, you are the only person I know who can answer my questions."
Atel looked at Nimophila with a serious gaze.
"You don't have to be so polite, we're not in any superior-subordinate relationship... Tell me, I'll try my best to answer your questions as long as I can."
Nimophila told Atel not to be so polite.
Upon hearing this, Atel breathed a sigh of relief, and the expression on her face also relaxed a little.
Although she had realized Nimophila's true nature the night the curse was resolved, she had mostly interacted with Teacher 'Heier,' and her understanding of Nimophila was not deep.
She wasn't sure how Nimophila, an Extraordinary One, viewed her, an 'ordinary person'?
So she felt a bit nervous when facing Nimophila.
"It's difficult for me to describe the specific situation clearly; I'll just show it to you directly."
With that, Atel solemnly extended her right hand, motioning for Nimophila to focus her attention on her hand.
Soon, electric arcs flickered between Atel's five fingers on her right hand, and a "crackling" sound filled the room. Slowly, the electric arcs in Atel's palm gathered into an electric ball.
"Hoo..."
Atel exhaled roughly, her expression weary, and then the electric ball in her palm slowly transformed into purple starlight, dissipating into the air.
Watching the activity in Atel's hand, Nimophila's face showed surprise, then she smiled and congratulated Atel:
"Congratulations, you have successfully stepped into the realm of an Extraordinary One."
"Teacher Atel's talent is truly powerful... Liens told me about your situation before he left, but I didn't expect you to 'see' the elements so quickly."
Upon hearing this, Atel's face lit up with joy. Although she had been prepared, she was still very happy to receive Nimophila's affirmation.
A goal she couldn't achieve no matter how hard she tried in the Knight Order was realized within a few months of returning home.
It must be said that fate is truly unpredictable.
Of course, compared to fate, she was more grateful to Teacher 'Heier' who had guided her; if it weren't for Liens, she might never have achieved her goal.
"Liens, is that Teacher Heier's true name?"
Atel pondered in her heart, knowing that some mysterious existences always liked to use aliases to hide their identities.
Of course, she didn't ask this question, after all, the person in front of her was Teacher 'Heier''s official girlfriend; she, as a coveter, couldn't expose herself.
Recalling Liens's figure, Atel felt a chill down her spine.
"Oh no."
Atel felt a bit embarrassed by her body's sensitivity. The after-effects of the curse had been bothering her, causing her to change several pairs of underwear a day.
However, she was already used to it, so she felt a little awkward inside, but her face still maintained a serious expression.
"Teacher Atel, are you interested in joining our Life Truth Society?"
Nimophila didn't know Atel's embarrassment. After realizing Atel's talent, she extended an invitation to her.
"I'll join."
Atel agreed to Nimophila's invitation with hardly any thought.
Although she didn't know what kind of force the 'Life Truth Society' was, her experience in the Knight Order told her that sometimes background was more important than talent.
Compared to struggling alone in the unfamiliar Extraordinary world, joining a force was more reliable.
Moreover, joining that 'Life Truth Society' might even bring her closer to 'Teacher Heier.'
