The scorching sun hung high in the sky.

Although it was already the last month of the hot season, the afternoon sun was still incredibly fierce.

Even without direct sunlight, the muggy air was like a steamer, cooking the living creatures on the ground.

Aboer stood in the shaded pavilion outside the plaza, hot sweat constantly beading on his forehead, sliding down his cheeks, and dripping onto the ground.

Even with several maids fanning him, it seemed they couldn't dissipate the heat continuously rising from his body.

In contrast, the instructor, who was in the pavilion at the same time as Aboer, showed no signs of being affected by the heat.

Despite wearing a tightly wrapped uniform, there were no traces of sweat on the instructor's body.

"A knight's body is truly powerful. Don't you feel the heat at all in such hot weather?" Aboer asked the instructor enviously.

"Perhaps General Aboer could try exercising, or travel to some special places more often... then, you would find that this weather isn't actually that hot."

The instructor withdrew his gaze from the plaza, looked back at Aboer, and responded indifferently.

"Is that so? It seems I do need to see the scenery of other places when I have time," Aboer chuckled, giving a perfunctory reply.

"Putting that aside, has Sir Leinajin considered returning to a post within the Inner City?"

"The conditions in the Inner City are much better than here... For instance, right now, if we were in the Inner City, there would be cooling alchemical devices almost everywhere, or at the very least, cold drinks to quench your thirst."

"And there's fine wine, beautiful women, all sorts of entertainment. It's much more interesting than standing here watching these commoners train."

"Sir Leinajin, are you interested in becoming the chief instructor of Kara City's garrison?"

"Whatever you desire, be it money or women, I can provide it to you."

"Moreover, although it's the chief instructor position, you actually don't need to do much; you just need to enjoy yourself in the Inner City."

Aboer enthusiastically spoke to the instructor, directly offering what he considered very favorable terms to show his regard for the instructor.

His life experience told him that people are born for enjoyment; whether commoners or nobles, they are constantly pursuing higher levels of pleasure.

And power, money, and beautiful women are the greatest manifestations of enjoyment.

In response to General Aboer's attempts to win him over, the instructor stared at him with a look that suggested he was an idiot.

Doesn't this person properly investigate the other party's situation before trying to win them over?

Doesn't he know the main reason why the Glenbagen Family arranged for him to be here?

It's to continuously cultivate private soldiers for the Glenbagen Family.

Does he intend to cut off the Glenbagen Family's source of private soldiers, thereby weakening the Glenbagen Family's influence?

Does he really think his current duty isn't important and can be easily replaced?

"No, thank you for the General's appreciation. I still have to fulfill the duties entrusted to me by the Glenbagen Family, so it's inconvenient for me to take on other positions," the instructor refused outright.

Although his mind was racing with thoughts, the instructor, considering Aboer's status, still refrained from directly calling him an idiot.

"Hehe... hahaha, indeed, the Glenbagen Family's duties are more important... It's fine. If Sir Leinajin becomes interested in the future, remember to inform me early."

"I've seen enough of the plaza here. If there's nothing special, I'll go check out other places."

Aboer's expression turned ugly, and he forced a strained smile as he responded to the instructor.

He hadn't expected the instructor to refuse so decisively, and even use the Glenbagen Family as an excuse.

It seems he looks down on him!

He must think that he doesn't have much real power in the Glenbagen Family, and that he can't give what he wants, so he refused without even thinking.

Aboer turned and left the plaza, his face contorted in a ferocious grimace, grinding his teeth as he thought to himself.

The instructor watched him leave once again, just like the scene in the living room before, without saying anything to try and keep him.

His gaze returned to the training on the plaza; those were the duties he needed to focus on.

...

At night, the house for entertaining guests was brightly lit.

Although the instructor didn't really want to interact with a brainless fellow like Aboer again, in accordance with basic etiquette, he still arranged this farewell banquet.

However, this was not a special arrangement by the instructor for Aboer.

Rather, it was a farewell banquet that every guest from the Glenbagen Family who came to the Training Camp would receive.

At the banquet, Aboer sat at the head of the table, with Leinajin and Marvin on his left and right, respectively.

In terms of nominal status, Aboer Glenbagen, as the Earl's eldest son, was naturally higher than the two at the Training Camp.

Yes, the instructor had also brought Marvin over.

He knew that these two actions of his had likely offended General Aboer.

Although he didn't care much, to ensure the banquet could proceed, the instructor still brought Marvin over to lighten the atmosphere.

However, even though the instructor thought Aboer was an idiot.

This "idiot" had, after all, been navigating noble circles for many years, so he still possessed some cunning; at least during the banquet, he didn't directly show any displeasure.

The banquet was held in the living room, with the dining table laden with various exquisite foods and fine wines, and candles serving as embellishments, the lighting perfectly suiting the atmosphere.

"Uncle Marvin, are you comfortable staying here?"

General Aboer took a small sip of the fine wine in his glass before asking Marvin.

Having experienced failure with the instructor, he was unwilling to give up and shifted his target to Marvin.

"Hmm, it's quite good. I'm very satisfied with my current life. It makes me deeply honored to be able to contribute to the Glenbagen Family in my old age."

In previous years, the Glenbagen Family's assessment personnel would always politely greet Marvin at banquets.

So, Marvin naturally gave a formulaic response to Aboer's greeting.

Aboer was very dissatisfied with Marvin's formulaic response, so he continued to ask: "Uncle, I can arrange for you to return to the Inner City here, would you like to..."

"No, I'm really good here. I don't need to return to the Inner City."

As soon as Marvin heard 'return to the Inner City,' he refused outright, not even waiting for Aboer to finish speaking.

He still had his experiments, and he hadn't yet fulfilled his obsession; how could he return to the Inner City?

"Bang!"

Aboer slammed his right hand forcefully on the table, causing some of the food on it to jolt a few times, and some soup spilled out of the plates.

"Good... good, good, good, both of you look down on me, don't you?"

"Fine... you just wait for me."

Aboer pointed back and forth between the instructor and Marvin, his face contorted with suppressed anger.

After speaking, he stood up and left the living room, seething with rage.

"This is..."

Marvin was somewhat puzzled; he didn't know how his answer had angered Aboer.

He had responded this way in previous years, so why had no one gotten angry before?

"It's not your problem... However, I called you here to lighten the mood, but I didn't expect to directly trigger his emotions."

The instructor explained to Marvin, somewhat speechless.

"Let him go if he wants to go. Let's eat first. If we can't finish it, the rest will be handled by the people on duty."

"It would be a shame to throw away a whole table of good wine and dishes."

The instructor continued.

Hearing this, Marvin also stopped bothering about the departing Aboer.

At his age, he no longer cared about social niceties; only fulfilling his obsession was his sole wish.

The next day, early in the morning.

Aboer rode in his luxurious carriage, leaving the Training Camp.

"When I inherit the title, I will definitely make you realize that humiliating me was the most regrettable thing you've ever done in your lives."

"Just wait, that day... isn't far off."

Aboer sat in the carriage, grinding his teeth as he muttered to himself.
