Immortal Creed
Chapter 40: Medicine and the Hateful Guy
The so-called healing medicine was a bowl of green liquid.
Seeing Ben take the bowl of liquid from the guard's hand and drink it all in one gulp, Liens couldn't help but recall a meme from his previous life.
"So, Gul'dan, what is the cost?"
Of course, memes aside, he did recognize the so-called "healing medicine" Ben drank.
That thing should be a Healing Potion, and from its light green appearance, it was most likely a watered-down version, just like the Red Potions they drank every day.
The medicinal effect would certainly be reduced, and the extent of the reduction depended on the Training Camp's cost control.
However, compared to a Stamina Potion, a Healing Potion would not cause any Life depletion to the human body.
Instead, it would convert the Life force of the herbal plants themselves into the human body's own Life force to heal injuries.
Therefore, its onset of action was much slower than that of a Stamina Potion, as the conversion of Life force required time.
But no matter how slow, it was definitely much faster than the human body's normal recovery rate.
Moreover, the more advanced the Healing Potion, the stronger the Life force it contained, and the faster the conversion speed.
"I wonder how effective this watered-down 'ordinary Healing Potion' will be?"
Liens thought to himself.
He had learned all this knowledge about potions from Marvin's bookshelf.
As an alchemist, Marvin's bookshelf was filled with various books related to alchemy.
Although Liens couldn't understand much of the content in many of the books on the shelf, some of the item descriptions had greatly broadened his horizons.
In terms of alchemy, while he didn't know how to make them.
He was already well-versed in the specific appearance and effects of common alchemical potions.
Thinking of this, Liens actually felt a brief surge of gratitude towards Marvin.
If Marvin's actions hadn't seriously threatened his own safety, he really wouldn't have wanted to kill him.
At least keeping Marvin alive would allow him to continue to freeload off those precious books.
"Unfortunately, a month has passed, and I still haven't learned how to refine potions... Alchemy is so hard, do I lack talent in that area?"
Liens sighed to himself.
He had also tried refining potions in Marvin's room, but he had never succeeded.
After Ben finished the green potion, he found a place to sit down and rest, and Liens sat beside him.
"How's the effect of this potion?" Liens asked Ben curiously.
He wanted to know how much medicinal effect this watered-down ordinary Healing Potion still had, as this directly affected how he would choose to deal with the upcoming duel.
"It should be pretty good, I guess. Look, I haven't been sitting here resting for long, and the bleeding seems to have stopped."
"And I can feel the pain in the wound lessening."
"This feeling is a bit like the 'Red Potion' we drank before, but the onset of action is much slower."
Ben thought for a moment before replying to Liens.
"Is that so? Then it seems the medicinal effect is not bad. Such an answer is truly reassuring." The latest chapters are uploaded first on *.
"At least I don't have to worry about dying from excessive blood loss."
Liens said with relief.
"However, you might have some trouble in the upcoming duel."
"Not being able to wield a sword with both hands reduces your power output by a notch."
"And you're used to that fighting style of overwhelming others with strength... Have you thought about how you're going to fight later?"
Liens continued to ask Ben with a serious expression.
"How to fight? Just try to make sure you don't get seriously injured again."
"What I want, originally, isn't victory, but to live."
"If I lose, I lose. As long as I can ensure I survive... I hope you can think that way too."
"Living is everything, never try to be brave."
In response to Liens's concerned words, Ben in turn comforted him.
"What I want is to live too, of course I won't overexert myself."
"Also, one last thing, just one sentence, no more, so you don't find me annoying."
"Don't go easy later..."
Liens replied.
Ben fell silent after hearing that.
The two of them said no more, sitting quietly to the side, waiting for the next round of duels to begin.
...
After a not-so-long halftime break, a new round of duels began.
Liens's second opponent was much stronger than the previous one. Of course, the winner's strength was inherently stronger than most losers, which was not surprising.
However, his current opponent was a bit special.
Liens also knew the other party; his name was Alger, and he was one of the few people Liens had actively sought to inquire about.
In the early stages of the Training Camp, there were once 5 people who could easily complete various trainings, and Alger was one of those 5.
Even now, his overall ranking among the remaining Trainees was still among the top.
However, Liens detested this person.
In previous wooden sword duels, whenever he faced this opponent, he would choose to be the loser, because defeating him was too conspicuous.
But what was annoying was that the guy struck very hard, and in order to hide his strength, he had no choice but to endure the opponent's attacks.
And the places hit by the opponent's wooden sword would leave very severe swelling and bruising, even worse than the guards' whipping.
He needed a considerable amount of time to recover from such injuries each time.
And after being beaten, Liens, of course, couldn't tolerate it.
Since he couldn't retaliate in reality, he could only 'serve' the opponent well in the instance.
He would first use a wooden sword to injure Alger's vocal cords, preventing the guy from surrendering by shouting.
As long as no one spoke to surrender, the guards generally wouldn't interfere with the duel until the duel time ended.
Then, Liens would break his knees, forcing him to kneel and look up at himself.
Watching the guy's painful and disbelieving expression, to be honest, he felt quite good.
However, if it ended there, it would underestimate Liens's brutality.
Next, he would quickly break Alger's four limbs, as well as that thing between his legs, leaving the opponent only able to lie on the ground, screaming in pain non-stop.
If the guards didn't intervene, he would let the opponent wail until the very last moment before the duel time ended, then pierce his throat with a wooden sword, ending the guy's Life.
If the guards showed any intention of intervening, he would finish the guy off early... Anyway, a Life must be taken.
"I've encountered this annoying guy again, what a narrow escape."
Liens thought to himself.
He somewhat wanted to kill that guy.
This was not only out of personal grudges but also due to his understanding of Alger.
That guy was arrogant, isolated, thought he stood out from the crowd, and completely disregarded what others thought.
Alger struck without restraint; in previous duels, the wooden sword in his hand often aimed at others' vital parts, solely to achieve quick victory and demonstrate his strength.
It was fine if he was hit by a wooden sword, but now it was a real iron longsword.
Liens didn't believe that guy would consider others' Lives because of this, so it would be very difficult to surrender in a safe manner in front of that guy.
And choosing to lose would inevitably mean suffering heavy injuries, so why not choose to be the winner?
Kill him, and settle this grudge along the way.
Liens had already figured out how to act out the next scene.
