Immortal Creed
Chapter 72: Mission Completed
Liens dodged the longsword's attack.
He had experienced this scene in a Instance not long ago.
However, even without the Instance experience, it wouldn't have been difficult for him to dodge or block this direct thrust of the longsword.
In fact, in the Instance , he easily dodged the longsword.
Previously, Liens rested against the wall precisely to make time to enter the Instance and test whether there was any danger in the room.
He even waited for some extra time before entering the Instance to avoid the possibility of the Instance 's duration running out before the test was complete.
If there was indeed danger in the room, he would leave the Military Fortress directly and explain the situation to Jonathan, who was waiting outside.
If not, he would continue with the mission.
The test results greatly satisfied Liens.
That guy was truly weak, not some protagonist, and had no hidden trump cards himself.
In the Instance , he completed the mission requirements in a very short time.
Now, he had to replicate the Instance 's results in reality.
Liens swiftly drew the longsword from its sheath with his right hand, the longsword sweeping horizontally, a silver flash, cutting across the wrist of his opponent's sword-wielding hand.
With the tendons severed, a spurt of fresh blood erupted from the wound on his opponent's right wrist.
"Clang!"
The longsword fell to the ground, Liens's opponent no longer able to grip the longsword in his hand.
Liens stepped forward, thrusting in a lunge, the longsword in his hand shifting from a horizontal cut to a direct thrust, piercing towards his opponent who hadn't yet reacted.
The pale moonlight streamed through the window, illuminating everything in the room.
With his still sharp eyes, Liens could clearly see the panic mixed with a hint of pain on his opponent's face.
He could see his attempts to retreat, and his hurried efforts to use his hands to block the longsword.
Unfortunately, his movements were too slow, or rather, Liens's longsword came faster than he anticipated.
The longsword directly pierced his opponent's neck, precisely at the vocal cords in the throat.
"Pfft!"
Liens pulled out the longsword, and a large amount of fresh blood immediately gushed from the pierced wound.
"Thud!"
Liens indifferently watched his opponent collapse to the ground, his hands desperately trying to staunch the bleeding.
He had seen such sights many times and was long desensitized.
So, without any hesitation, he raised the longsword high with his right hand, aimed at the figure on the ground, and swung down from top to bottom, striking.
The longsword cut through the air, successfully severing his opponent's neck, thoroughly ending his powerless struggle.
The irregularly shaped head rolled on the ground, and the gushing blood began to spread from the fallen figure.
Specks of blood splattered on the surrounding objects, and the room was filled with a strong, pungent odor.
Liens flicked off the blood adhering to the blade, then searched the room for a clean rag, wiped the longsword, and returned it to its sheath.
This time, he didn't need to worry about leaving footprints or fingerprints.
Because this assassination was meant to be made public.
While searching, Liens noticed that this dormitory had two wooden beds, but currently, only the mission target was in the room.
He was a bit curious about this, so he planned to ask the mission target an extra question when he entered the Instance later.
After wiping the longsword, Liens picked up a bedsheet from the wooden bed and wrapped the head that had rolled onto the ground in three layers inside and three layers outside.
Then, carrying the head wrapped in the bedsheet, he walked out of the freshly completed crime scene.
This novice mission was truly simple.
Aside from taking some time to infiltrate the Military Fortress, he basically completed the mission requirements with little effort.
As for the mission target, Liens was even reluctant to call him an opponent.
Because he was simply too weak.
In terms of swordsmanship, reaction ability, mentality, and so on, he was far weaker than the opponents he encountered in the Training Camp.
Even the opponents he had rated as "feeble" during real sword duels were much stronger than him.
Not to mention him, any new Dark Guard who successfully graduated from the Training Camp could easily complete this mission.
As long as they weren't stabbed by the longsword during the initial door-kill.
If all the soldiers in the Military Fortress were of this level, Liens felt it wasn't impossible for him to single-handedly cut through the place.
Confidence comes from strength, and the level of strength needs comparison.
Indeed, after the comparison, Liens felt that this massive Military Fortress was nothing special.
His steps even became much lighter because of it.
His movements leaving the Military Fortress were also much faster; Liens barely even bothered to conceal himself along the way.
Not to say he swaggered, but he was no longer as cautious as when he arrived.
...
Under the night sky, two shadowy figures were crouching in the green shrubbery.
"You say that lord has been in there for so long and hasn't come out yet, could he have run into some trouble?"
A cautious voice sounded, as one of the two figures asked the other.
"You ask me that, how would I know?"
"But, there shouldn't be any brother bold enough to actually try and stop that Glenbagen Family Dark Guard, right?" Brought to you by *.
The guard responded with some uncertainty.
A big forest has all sorts of birds.
He also didn't know if anyone was truly that foolish or ignorant to do such a thing.
"No way? It shouldn't be..."
The guard who spoke first showed a shocked expression upon hearing this.
He couldn't believe anyone would dare to offend a noble, especially the Glenbagen Family.
One should know that, in terms of power, the Glenbagen Family was among the highest-ranking of all the nobles in Kara City.
"Wait... stop talking, he's out, someone's out."
The other guard reached out to stop the first guard from speaking further, exclaiming in a low voice.
"It seems to be that lord, and he seems to be carrying something, something round... uh."
In this situation, what else could something round be...?
Of course, it's a head.
Realizing this, the guard instantly felt as if his throat had been seized, unable to speak.
"Hey, hey... he seems to be looking over here, oh my god... that look, it's terrifying."
"He won't come over and kill us, will he?"
One guard continuously slapped his companion beside him, crying out in fear, but not daring to make too much noise.
"It's okay, it's okay... he shouldn't, we're being so cooperative, nothing should happen."
The other guard responded with a trembling voice.
Clearly, at this moment, he was also unsure, but he could only say that.
After Liens walked out of the Military Fortress, he immediately spotted two dark figures crouching in the grass.
However, after careful identification, he realized they were the two guards from before, and he no longer paid them any mind.
Given the two guards' previous attitude, they shouldn't have any extreme reaction to his appearance.
So Liens directly carried the item, moved away from the Military Fortress, and hurried towards Jonathan's direction.
The mission was complete, and he also wanted to go back to the Instance soon to practice his swordsmanship.
