Immortal God of War
Chapter 110: Escaped_1
CHAPTER 110: CHAPTER 110: ESCAPED_1
CLATTER!
The footsteps drew closer.
Qin Feiyang and his companion held their breath, poised to strike.
A few moments later, the two guards stopped beside Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei. They kicked them forcefully. Seeing no response, they bent down to turn them over.
"Heh!"
Instantly, Qin Feiyang grinned.
Simultaneously, Ling Yunfei, holding a jade bottle, flicked his wrist. A clear liquid shot from the bottle, splashing onto the faces of the two guards.
"Just as I suspected, you’re not dead!" the taller guard’s eyes blazed with murderous intent. He raised the iron hook in his hand and brought it smashing down on them!
Evidently, he had been prepared for this.
The shorter guard, however, was so frightened he collapsed onto the ground. He had firmly believed Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei were dead, so seeing them alive now threw him into a subconscious panic.
The iron hook whistled through the air!
Horrified, Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei quickly pushed off the ground with their hands and scrambled backward, spreading their legs wide at the same time!
CLANG!
CRACK!
The iron hook slammed down between their legs. With a deafening sound, the ground beneath cracked instantly!
Both of them were terrified, cold sweat drenching their bodies. The iron hook had landed mere inches from their crotches.
If that had hit... wouldn’t we be finished?
"What are you gawking at?" the taller guard, having missed, roared at his shorter companion and swung the iron hook at the pair again.
The shorter guard jolted, scrambled to his feet, and swung his heavy iron bow directly at their heads!
AHHH!!
But the next moment, the two guards suddenly collapsed, writhing on the ground and roaring in pain! Their iron bow and hooks clattered uselessly beside them, producing a harsh metallic clang.
Their faces were rapidly ulcerating!
In an instant, their features became unrecognizable, blood streaming down.
That’s right! It was the venom of the Horned Serpent, corroding their skin!
They could barely open their eyes; the pain was excruciating!
The taller guard managed to roar, "What was that liquid you splashed on us?"
Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei exchanged a look, quickly got to their feet, raised their daggers, and plunged them fiercely into the guards’ backs!
Strike them down while they’re vulnerable!
"Argh..."
With a final scream, the two guards slammed to the ground, dead on the spot.
Ling Yunfei pulled out his dagger, kicked their bodies, and sneered, "Wasting a whole bottle of venom on you two... I suppose you can consider it an honorable death."
"The sound came from over there!"
"Quick, let’s go check it out!"
Two shouts echoed from a nearby alley.
Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei exchanged a glance, then turned and sprinted towards the alley’s exit without a backward look.
"They’re over there!"
"After them!"
A large group of guards reached the crossroads. Spotting Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei, they immediately gave chase, their killing intent palpable.
Ling Yunfei glanced back and roared in frustration, "Your master is already a spent force! Why are you still fighting so desperately? Are you all idiots?"
However, the guards turned a deaf ear.
Qin Feiyang said, "Don’t waste your breath on them. They’ve been brainwashed by the City Lord; they won’t listen."
The exit was just ahead. Suddenly, two figures blocked their path!
Caught off guard, Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei were startled. They leaped up, landing back on the rooftop.
The two figures below were momentarily stunned. One of them called out, "What are you doing up on the roof?"
That voice...? Qin Feiyang paused, looking down carefully. A wry smile touched his lips.
It wasn’t people from the City Lord’s Manor, but Gu Eight and Ho Five.
Ling Yunfei also managed a wry smile. "Looks like we’ve become a bit too paranoid, running at the sight of anyone."
The pair jumped down, landing before Gu Eight and Ho Five.
"Are you two alright?" Gu Eight asked, looking them up and down with concern.
"We’ll live," Qin Feiyang said, shaking his head. "Is it just the two of you? Where are Old Feng and the others?"
"Elder Feng and the rest went to the City Lord’s Manor," Gu Eight replied, then added indignantly, "Hey, what do you mean, ’just the two of us’? Are you implying Ho Five and I can’t handle these small fry?"
Ho Five’s face twitched. "We’re Two-star Martial Ancestors, you know. Is it really alright to look down on us like that?"
"Haha!" Qin Feiyang gave an awkward laugh. "This Disciple didn’t mean it that way. In that case, we’ll leave the rest to you two esteemed seniors."
"Just you watch! Gu Eight, time to get to work!" Ho Five declared with a cold snort.
The two of them lunged forward like hungry wolves pouncing on prey, charging at the group of guards.
Everywhere they passed, guards fell one after another, their screams echoing incessantly.
There was no suspense at all!
It was a one-sided slaughter.
Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei could finally catch their breath. They followed behind, casually finishing off any stragglers who slipped through.
A short while later, the four of them emerged onto the main street. The alley behind them was a river of blood.
They looked towards the sky above the City Lord’s Manor.
BOOM!
From that direction, colossal rumbles seemed to shatter the heavens, and potent Battle Intent surged into the sky. Powerful battle fluctuations enveloped most of Black Bear City.
Ling Yunfei’s eyes lit up, and he said breathlessly, "A battle between War Kings is a rare sight! Quick, let’s go take a look!"
Gu Eight nodded. "Indeed. If we can observe it up close, it will surely benefit our future cultivation."
The four of them raced towards the City Lord’s Manor like the wind.
Before they even reached the City Lord’s Manor, a sea of people appeared before them, blocking their way.
Ho Five frowned. "With so many people, how do we get in?"
Ling Yunfei replied, "Simple. We just walk over their shoulders."
The moment he finished speaking, he leaped up, nimbly stepping on shoulders as he swiftly moved towards the gates of the City Lord’s Manor.
Qin Feiyang, Ho Five, and Gu Eight exchanged glances and did the same.
"It’s Jian Haotian and the others!"
"What on earth is happening inside?"
"Can you tell us?"
Recognizing the four, the crowd buzzed with eager questions.
But the four paid them no mind, moving as if treading on flat ground. A few dozen breaths later, they landed smoothly before the gates of the City Lord’s Manor.
Several middle-aged men stood guard at the gate. Among them were Steward Elders from both the Martial Palace and the Elixir Palace. Their primary task was to prevent anyone from rushing inside.
"Haotian!"
"Yunfei!"
"Are you two alright?"
Seeing Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei, the men immediately surrounded them, their voices laced with concern.
"Thank you for your concern, Seniors. We’re fine," Qin Feiyang replied with a cupped fist salute and a smile.
Ling Yunfei asked, "Seniors, what’s the situation with the battle inside?"
"We don’t know either," the men replied, shaking their heads.
Ling Yunfei pressed, "Can you let us go in and see?"
"Absolutely not!" they all shook their heads in unison.
Are they kidding? There are more than a dozen War Kings locked in a fierce battle in there. If these two youngsters went in, what would happen if there was an accident?
Ling Yunfei was extremely disappointed, gazing longingly through the gates.
Qin Feiyang, on the other hand, wasn’t particularly bothered. Back in the Imperial Capital, he had frequently witnessed battles not only between War Kings but even War Emperors.
BOOM! BOOM!
CRACK!
The deafening sounds continued for several hundred breaths before gradually subsiding.
"The battle should be over now."
"You can go in," the Steward Elders said with a smile.
What’s the damn point of going in now! Ling Yunfei grumbled inwardly.
Before long, a group of people filed out, each bearing injuries of varying severity.
They were Luo Xiong, Feng Cheng, and Elder Mo. The Pavilion Master of the Treasure Pavilion and the Hall Master of the Martial Palace were also present. Lin Liang was among them as well.
Additionally, there were two ruddy-faced old men whom Qin Feiyang had never seen before.
"Those are Elders from the Martial Palace, all powerhouses at the War King realm," Ling Yunfei explained quietly to Qin Feiyang.
Feng Cheng strode up to Qin Feiyang, gave him a sharp rap on the head, and snapped, "Something this major, and you didn’t even discuss it with us? Think your wings have hardened, eh?"
Qin Feiyang rubbed his head, grumbling, "Don’t you have any sympathy? Can’t you see I’m injured?"
Feng Cheng’s eyebrow twitched. "Oh, so you think you’re in the right? Believe it or not, this old man can thrash you so badly right now you won’t get out of bed for three months!"
"No, no, no!" Qin Feiyang hastily waved his hands, chuckling sheepishly. "Next time, this Disciple will definitely be more mindful."
Meanwhile, the Hall Master of the Martial Palace and the two elderly men gave Ling Yunfei a stern scolding as well.
The two felt both aggrieved and warmed by this. After all, these people were, in fact, showing their concern for them.
Just then, Lin Liang suddenly spoke up. "Jian Haotian, I apologize to you on behalf of Lin Chen. I hope you will reconsider and go to the Elixir King Palace."
"Apologize?" Qin Feiyang paused, then offered a cupped fist salute. "Senior, you are too kind. This junior has already forgotten about that incident."
A smile immediately touched Lin Liang’s eyes upon hearing this.
The real show is just beginning. Just you wait! Qin Feiyang sneered inwardly, then turned to Luo Xiong, asking, "Hall Master, what about the City Lord and his men?"
Luo Xiong replied, "The others are all dead. Only the City Lord escaped."
"What?"
"He escaped?" Qin Feiyang’s expression changed drastically. Ling Yunfei also looked anxious.
So many War Kings, and they still let the City Lord get away? What were they even doing?
"There’s a secret passage beneath the City Lord’s Manor," Luo Xiong explained, looking somewhat helpless. "It’s an intricate network. Old Feng and I searched for ages but couldn’t find him." He then added with a smile, "But don’t worry. We’ve already crippled his cultivation. He’s weaker than an ordinary person now. Even if he survives, he won’t be able to cause any significant trouble."
"That’s good to hear." Ling Yunfei sighed in relief.
Qin Feiyang, however, subtly raised an eyebrow and asked, "Where is the entrance to this secret passage?"
"It’s in the council hall," Luo Xiong said. "What are you planning? Let me warn you, that passage below is like a labyrinth. You absolutely must not risk going down there."
Qin Feiyang smiled. "I won’t, I won’t. Rest assured, Senior!"
He then turned to Ling Yunfei. "Your mother must be frantic with worry. Let’s hurry back to the Spring Wind Building!"
"Oh, right!" Ling Yunfei slapped his forehead, then turned to the Hall Master of the Martial Palace and the two elderly men. "Hall Master, Elders, we’ll take our leave first. We’ll trouble you with matters here."
"Don’t cause any more trouble," the Hall Master of the Martial Palace admonished.
"Understood," Ling Yunfei nodded.
As the two turned to leave, the crowd gathered ahead tactfully parted, clearing a path for them.
Then, without a backward glance, the pair departed.
However, once they were out of everyone’s sight, Qin Feiyang suddenly stopped. "You head back first," he told Ling Yunfei. "I’m going back to the City Lord’s Manor."
"Why?" Ling Yunfei frowned.
A cold glint flashed in Qin Feiyang’s eyes. "If you don’t remove the roots when cutting weeds, they’ll grow again when the spring breeze blows. The City Lord must die!"
Ling Yunfei said, "Then I’ll go with you. If anything unexpected happens, we can watch out for each other."
Qin Feiyang pondered for a moment. "Alright then. Let’s go!"
The two turned, slipped into a small alley, and stealthily made their way back towards the City Lord’s Manor.
