CHAPTER 293: CHAPTER 293: THE GUARD COMMANDER’S GREED_1

The prison cell was approximately three meters square.

Inside, there was only a Moonlight Stone the size of a fist, emitting a faint glow.

Yan Nanshan was sitting on a rush mat, his hands and feet shackled with iron chains, and his entire appearance disheveled and unkempt.

His once lively eyes were now dull and cloudy.

Qin Feiyang could not believe what he was seeing.

Is this the once spirited Yan Nanshan? He’s already confined in a stone room, so why the additional shackles on his hands and feet?

CRACK!

His hands clenched tightly, knuckles cracking.

He was striving to restrain the anger that was about to explode in his heart!

Yan Nanshan was also looking at him, a hint of color gradually returning to his hollow eyes.

"You, are you Feiyang?" a moment later, he asked, his voice hoarse and weak, even more so than an elderly man’s.

BOOM!

Hearing this voice, the anger in Qin Feiyang’s heart could no longer be controlled and erupted.

He turned his head to the Guard Commander and roared, "Why did you treat him like this?"

"Huh?"

The Guard Commander frowned. Who is this guy? How dare he speak to me in this tone?

Ren Wushuang said, "Feiyang, calm down. Every prisoner on the first level of the prison is treated this way."

"HMPH!"

Qin Feiyang snorted coldly, strode into the prison cell, squatted before Yan Nanshan, and smiled. "Hall Master, it’s me. I’m sorry for your suffering."

"It really is you." Yan Nanshan was overcome with emotion. "It seems I’m not dreaming."

His vacant eyes finally radiated a bright light. He instinctively reached out to grab Qin Feiyang’s shoulder.

But the iron chains on his hands felt immensely heavy, making it impossible for him to lift them.

Qin Feiyang lowered his gaze to the iron chains, a cold glint in his eyes.

"Gravity Divine Iron!"

As the son of an emperor, he recognized the material of these chains at a glance. Gravity Divine Iron was not only extremely hard but also incredibly heavy. A piece as small as a fingernail weighed ten thousand jin. Let alone these entire chains! Moreover, once locked by such chains, one would be unable to use Battle Intent, effectively rendering them an ordinary person.

"Damned bastards!" Qin Feiyang cursed openly and drew Blue Snow.

The Guard Commander frowned and said dismissively, "Unless you have the key, no one can break these chains." His eyes held a trace of contempt.

CLANG!

But his words had barely left his lips when Qin Feiyang swung his hand. Blue Snow flashed, and the chains on Yan Nanshan’s hands were severed.

"How is this possible!" The Guard Commander’s eyes bulged with disbelief.

"You thought mere Gravity Divine Iron could hinder me? Dream on!" Qin Feiyang sneered. With swift movements, he also cut off the shackles on Yan Nanshan’s feet.

Without the heavy chains, Yan Nanshan instantly felt his entire body lighten.

"Good! Very good!" He raised his hands, gripped Qin Feiyang’s shoulders firmly, nodded, and laughed heartily. "I’m relieved to see you’ve made it to the state office."

Qin Feiyang broke out in a sweat. In his excitement, Yan Nanshan had forgotten to control his strength, and Qin Feiyang felt as if his shoulders were about to be crushed. But he endured it silently, his expression unchanged.

"How bold!"

However, a voice that shattered the atmosphere suddenly erupted.

The Guard Commander glared at Qin Feiyang and roared, "Don’t you know the prison rules? No one is allowed to remove a prisoner’s chains without authorization!"

"Get lost!" Qin Feiyang retorted without turning his head.

The Guard Commander was stunned. How dare he rebuke me? He looked at Ren Wushuang and said gravely, "Miss Wushuang, he has broken the prison rules. I must apprehend him!"

"Rules are rigid, but people are flexible," Ren Wushuang said coldly, her brows furrowed. "Feiyang is here for the first time; he doesn’t know any rules. Guard Commander, why are you making such a big deal out of nothing?"

"Making a big deal out of nothing?" The Guard Commander frowned.

"Guard Commander, Qin Feiyang was just momentarily concerned. Please be magnanimous and don’t hold him accountable," Yan Nanshan also quickly stood up, pleading for Qin Feiyang.

"Fine, I won’t pursue it this time," the Guard Commander said impassively. He waved his hand, and two more iron chains appeared out of thin air, landing on the ground with a CLATTER. "Put them on yourself," he ordered Yan Nanshan. His condescending attitude and disdainful gaze were as if he were looking at a tiny ant.

"Yes," Yan Nanshan responded respectfully, sat back on the rush mat, and reached for the chains.

Just then, Qin Feiyang grabbed his wrist and shook his head. "As long as I’m here, I won’t let you wear these things."

Yan Nanshan glanced at the Guard Commander and said sternly, "Stop fooling around! Let go!"

Without another word, Qin Feiyang, wielding Blue Snow, severed those two chains as well.

"You are too presumptuous!" the Guard Commander roared, his large hand shooting out to grab Qin Feiyang’s shoulder.

"No!" Yan Nanshan’s expression changed. Without hesitation, he swung his palm, slapping the Guard Commander’s arm away with a SMACK.

"Hmph?" The Guard Commander was furious. An irresolvable ferocity arose on his face. "A prisoner should know his place! Kneel before me!" He took a step forward, pressing his palm on Yan Nanshan’s shoulder, attempting to force him to the ground.

"Why should he kneel to you?" Qin Feiyang said grimly, his eyes filled with potent Evil Qi. With a sweep of his hand, Blue Snow glinted coldly.

The Guard Commander hastily retracted his arm. This dagger... it can even sever iron chains, let alone flesh and blood! But Qin Feiyang’s actions had undoubtedly enraged him completely.

BOOM!

A terrifying pressure, like a tidal wave, washed over Qin Feiyang, threatening to submerge him. Qin Feiyang’s face twisted instantly. The horrifying pressure made him feel as if he were suffocating.

Seeing this, rage filled Ren Wushuang’s face, who stood beside him, but she made no sound.

Noticing Ren Wushuang hadn’t intervened, the Guard Commander grew even more arrogant.

But Yan Nanshan’s face darkened. He shouted, "Guard Commander, you can humiliate me, but you must not harm him!"

BOOM!

The aura of an Eight-star War Emperor erupted from his body. The Guard Commander was sent flying on the spot, crashing into the wall behind him, and he furiously spat out a mouthful of blood!

Once the pressure vanished, Qin Feiyang’s strength left him, and he collapsed to his knees.

Yan Nanshan quickly supported him. "Feiyang, are you alright?" he asked with concern.

"I’m fine," Qin Feiyang shook his head.

"Rebellion! This is absolute rebellion!" At this time, the Guard Commander shrieked, his gaze fixed malevolently on Qin Feiyang and Yan Nanshan.

Qin Feiyang looked up and sneered, "So, you’re nothing special after all. If it weren’t for your status, the Hall Master could kill you with one hand."

"Arrogant whelp!" The Guard Commander sneered menacingly. "I’m going to report you to the Great Commander right now! You two will die without a burial place!"

"Enough!" Ren Wushuang shouted. She turned to the Guard Commander and said icily, "Even if the Great Commander himself came, he wouldn’t dare lay a single finger on him!"

The Guard Commander was taken aback. Didn’t this young lady not care just moments ago? Why is she making such strong threats now?

In fact, Ren Wushuang hadn’t intervened earlier because she had agreed not to provide Qin Feiyang with any assistance. He had to rely on himself for everything. But seeing the situation escalating, how could she remain idle?

The Guard Commander struggled internally for a moment, then snorted, "Miss Wushuang, I’m afraid this matter is not for you to decide."

After saying that, he turned to walk outside, a glint of greed in his eyes. Once I lock this kid in jail, that dagger will be as good as mine. It turned out he coveted Blue Snow.

「Just at this moment.」

An indifferent voice reached everyone’s ears, and subsequently, a man with a square face, dressed in a white robe, strode into the ancient tower.

It was Wang Hong!

The Guard Commander hurried to meet him. "Commander Wang, you’ve come at just the right time! Someone is attempting a jailbreak!"

"A jailbreak?" Wang Hong’s eyebrow rose. He bellowed, "Who dares to be so audacious?"

"Him!" The Guard Commander led Wang Hong to the cell door, pointing at Qin Feiyang, a cold, vicious look in his eyes.

Wang Hong nodded at Ren Wushuang, then his gaze fell upon Qin Feiyang and Yan Nanshan.

The Guard Commander said, "Commander Wang, this boy is extremely arrogant! He must be severely punished!"

Yan Nanshan said solemnly, "Guard Commander, Qin Feiyang only helped me cut the chains because he saw my suffering. Yet you accuse him of attempting a jailbreak. What is your true motive?"

"How is what you’ve done any different from a jailbreak?" the Guard Commander shouted, his voice and expression stern.

Qin Feiyang glanced at him dismissively, then turned to Wang Hong. "Commander, do you remember our agreement?"

Wang Hong nodded.

"Agreement?" The Guard Commander was startled. A sense of unease welled up in his heart. Could this person named Qin Feiyang be acquainted with Commander Wang?

Qin Feiyang said, "Our agreement was for five years. Less than a year has passed. Isn’t it time you fulfilled your promise?"

"Indeed, it has been less than a year," Wang Hong said. "But I heard Ren Wushuang brought you here. We agreed that you couldn’t receive help from anyone."

Hearing this, Qin Feiyang felt a surge of anger.

Ren Wushuang’s lovely brows knitted tightly. "Commander Wang Hong, for Feiyang to cross the Desert of Death and traverse the Sea of Despair by his own efforts is already an incredible feat. Looking across the entire Spirit State, which young person could accomplish that? Why must you be so pedantic? As for the Extinction Mountain Range, even my grandfather wouldn’t dare enter it lightly. Aren’t you deliberately making things difficult for him? I can’t help but suspect you hold a grudge against Feiyang and are looking for an excuse to eliminate him."

Wang Hong’s face twitched. He waved at the Guard Commander. "You, step outside and close the door."

The Guard Commander said hastily, "But he’s attempting a jailbreak—"

"Get out!" Wang Hong’s expression turned cold.

"Yes." The Guard Commander shivered, hastily ran out of the ancient tower, and closed the door behind him.

Wang Hong glanced at Qin Feiyang, then looked at Ren Wushuang and sighed. "There are some things I originally didn’t want to say, but if I don’t, you’ll continue to suspect my motives." He paused, then said, "Actually, this was your grandfather’s idea."

"My grandfather?" Ren Wushuang was taken aback.

Qin Feiyang and Yan Nanshan exchanged glances, their eyes also filled with confusion.

"We were merely testing Qin Feiyang’s courage; we didn’t necessarily require him to succeed," Wang Hong explained with a wry smile, turning to Qin Feiyang with eyes full of appreciation. "If he had asked for help midway, I would have gone to his aid. Who knew this kid would be so determined as to actually cross the Desert of Death and the Sea of Despair? I must say, it truly exceeded our expectations."

"So that’s how it was."

Only then did Qin Feiyang and the others finally understand.
