CHAPTER 288: INTO THE SANDSTORM.

Looking at the endless dunes, Mo Jian’s thoughts churned.

Should they stay and hope they were not discovered, allowing the Peak Golden Core Realm Expert to leave behind?

Or should they take the risk and rush into the Desert of Fallen, with the speed of the Jade Fang Lizards and the Lightning Wind Carriage defense?

There was a chance they could escape.

Yet one factor prevented him from rushing into the Desert of Fallen: the desert was terrifying and dangerous.

Still, after recalling the Lightning Wind Carriage, Mo Jian regained his confidence.

He did not believe they couldn’t survive with all the odds in their favor.

With that thought, he gave the command for the carriage to proceed with caution.

Slowly, the first Lightning Wind Carriage entered the Desert of Fallen. One after another, the others followed.

The desert was eerily quiet.

Mo Jian could not find a single Vengeful Spirit, which came as a surprise.

It was as if the Desert of Fallen did not belong to the continent at all.

Gazing at the endless dunes, Mo Jian whispered, "I guess there is more to this desert than we know...."

He dismissed the unnecessary thought and fixed his eyes on the Peak Golden Core Realm Expert in front of him.

Suddenly, he noticed the old man looking in their direction.

A figure stood in the sky, an old man with a deep scar across his cheek, watching the strange lines appearing in the desert.

"What is going on?" he mused, lowering his altitude.

He focused his perception on the strange disturbance but detected nothing.

"Why does it look like a carriage trail?" he wondered, and then a realization dawned on him.

Slowly, a sinister grin crept across his scarred face, and he raised his hand.

"Let’s see what trick you’re hiding."

Inside the carriage, Mo Jian watched the old man’s action and knew they had been discovered.

He activated the Sound Transmission Rune and shouted, "Spread out! Full speed."

Instantly, tension and fear gripped everyone’s minds.

"This bastard!" Supreme Elder Zhao cursed in irritation.

These were evil sects who should have been hiding, yet now they found themselves hiding from others.

This irked him to no end.

But there was nothing he could do but gnash his teeth, hoping they would escape in one piece.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

With the Lightning Wind Carriages at full speed, their acceleration spiked, cutting through the dunes at a breathtaking pace, which shocked the old man in the sky.

"What!" He widened his eyes in disbelief.

He never expected there would be so many carriages attempting to flee under his nose.

Furious, his expression hardened as he selected a carriage trail and gave chase.

Whoosh!

His speed was astonishingly fast.

Mo Jian was stunned. He could not believe that out of all the carriages, he would be targeted.

"This damn old dog...."

Although the old man’s speed was formidable, he could not compare to five Tier-3 Jade Fang Lizards.

Even though the Lizards were only at the early stage, as beasts their speed and stamina were formidable, beyond what a human could match.

Just when he thought the old man would not catch up, the elder suddenly surged forward, closing the distance at alarming speed.

Around him, Mo Jian saw red mist churning eerily.

Seeing this, every hair on his body stood on end.

"I hate evil cultivators..." He gnawed his teeth. "Do you think he has a trick up his sleeve?"

Mo Jian was truly furious. He opened the window and threw several round artifacts toward the old man.

The old man did not bat an eye at the round artifacts.

A cold sneer crept across his face as he pondered how he might turn everyone inside the strange carriage into a human pill.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The ground trembled, and a deafening sound thundered through the night sky.

Stunned, the old man slowed down, his brow creased. He was curious about the strange artifacts, and his interest was piqued.

Roar!

Suddenly, a howl rose from the depths of the Desert of Fallen. Listening to the deep howl, everyone inside the desert shuddered to their core.

"This bastard." Mo Jian burned with anger.

With the Lightning Wind Carriage, all the beasts within the desert would not have discovered them—but now, he was forced to wake them.

However, since things had reached this juncture, he could only push forward.

Boom! Boom!

He continued to throw Shock Bombs one after another. Under his wild actions, the Desert of Fallen awakened.

Feeling the various dangerous beasts emerging, the old man’s confidence wavered. Although he was in the sky, he could not stay there forever.

His spiritual energy was limited, and no one knew how many terrifying beasts lay hidden in the Desert of Fallen.

Just as he was deliberating, a terrifying soundstorm appeared on the horizon.

The sandstorm filled the dark sky.

Inside the carriage, Mo Jian felt his spine drenched in cold sweat.

Looking at the terrifying sandstorm, he felt as though the world might be consumed by it.

"Activate all the carriage defensive runes," he shouted through the Sound Transmission Rune.

"And find something to hold on to as if your life depended on it."

Inside the various carriages, everyone held their breath, their hearts hammering in their chests.

All the carriage drivers were under additional pressure as they saw how dire the situation was.

Quickly, all the Lightning Wind Carriages activated their protective runes. Hundreds of mid-grade spirit stones were burned every second to power the runes.

But no one cared.

Beside Mo Jian, he activated all the protective runes and urged the carriage to speed faster.

In the sky, the Evil Sect Expert had already turned to escape. Unfortunately, it seemed impossible.

Boom! Boom!

Mo Jian’s carriage was swept into the sky, tumbling back and forth within the sandstorm.

"Ahhhhh!"

The old man could only flee a few miles before he was also swept up by the storm.

The storm howled like a savage beast, swallowing one carriage after another and sweeping everything away.

In less than the time it takes to burn an incense, the Desert of Fallen had been swept clean, and the desert returned to silence, leaving no trace of the horror that had just occurred.
