In Another World, Everyone Want to Kill Me!
Chapter 95: When Hope Turns to Despair
CHAPTER 95: WHEN HOPE TURNS TO DESPAIR
Because she had been unconscious for days, her throat was dry and her voice was hoarse.
She then looked around and said. "Your Highness... where... where am I?"
When he saw Sui He wake up, Yue Mingxuan’s face broke into a smile. "You’re awake? This is my room."
Sui He looked around, still confused.
She only remembered coming to clean the room and after that she remembered nothing.
Realizing she was lying on Yue Mingxuan’s own bed, she hurried to sit up. "I... I’m sorry your highness, I should not be sleeping on your bed."
Yue Mingxuan quickly pressed her back down. "I said you can sleep, so you can sleep. You were poisoned. You need to rest."
After she heard this, Sui He looked blank.
She did not even remember how she had been poisoned.
Out of habit, she raised her hand to rub her temple, but suddenly felt a sharp pain on her face.
Ignoring Yue Mingxuan’s attempt to stop her, she stumbled off the bed and rushed to the bronze mirror.
In the mirror, the woman that was staring back at her had one half of her face rotten from cheek to jaw.
Unable to bear the shock, Sui He fainted the moment she saw her face.
Yue Mingxuan quickly run forward and held her fainted body.
He then gently placed her back on the bed.
After a long time, Sui He slowly woke up again.
Before she even spoke, a string of tears rolled down her cheeks.
She said nothing and only stared blankly at the canopy above the bed with empty eyes.
While holding Sui He’s hand tightly, Yue Mingxuan gave a serious promise. "Sui He, I will definitely heal you."
If this had been before, Sui He would have been deeply moved by such words, but now she only lay there in a daze without any reaction at all, like a lifeless rag doll.
Yue Mingxuan knew she needed time to accept everything that had happened, so he quietly tiptoed out of the room.
He began thinking about making something good for Sui He to eat.
Maybe soybeans stewed with pig’s feet would be nice.
If she ate something full of collagen, maybe a miracle would happen.
But... how was he supposed to get to the imperial kitchen?
Yue Mingxuan frowned feeling troubled.
Suddenly a thought flashed through his mind.
Shang Qinghua’s hidden guard!
In order to test his guess, he look up and stared toward the beams of the roof, but he saw nothing.
"Hey... I see you."
In truth, Yue Mingxuan had no idea whether Shang Qinghua had left a hidden guard there or not, but he treated it like a desperate attempt.
Saying a few words wouldn’t cost him anything anyway.
The room stayed completely silent.
No one answered.
The hidden guard on the beam didn’t move at all.
The prince had ordered him only to catch any strangers who entered the courtyard, but he had never given permission for him to reveal himself to Yue Mingxuan.
Following the rule that "the prince’s command is greater than heaven," the guard simply ignored him.
Yue Mingxuan sighed.
He knew it, how could that perverted men possibly leave a hidden guard behind to watch over him?
Keeping hidden guards cost money.
The gold that man had squeezed out of him was enough to raise a whole army of hidden guards.
He wouldn’t even spare one to stay here.
He’s truly stingy to the extreme.
Complaints were one thing, but Sui He’s food couldn’t be delayed.
Yue Mingxuan decided to do what he did last time, that’s to find someone and ask for directions to the imperial kitchen.
The courtyard he lived in was located in a remote corner of the palace.
He walked for about fifteen minutes before reaching the imperial garden.
It was early spring and the yellow spring flowers were blooming everywhere.
Sui He would definitely love them.
Thinking that, he decided to pick a few branches to put in a vase.
While carrying the bright yellow spring flowers in his arms, Yue Mingxuan walked back to the courtyard with a lighter step.
"Sui He, Sui He, the yellow spring flowers outside are beautiful. I picked some for you."
As soon as he opened the door, Yue Mingxuan froze in shock.
Sui He was lying on the floor unconscious.
A white silk ribbon was tied around her neck, with the other end still hanging from the beam.
The flowers fell from Yue Mingxuan’s hand onto the ground.
He had imagined a thousand possible outcomes, but he had never imagined that Sui He would try to kill herself.
In two big steps he reached her and carrying her back onto the bed.
After all the shaking and moving, Sui He slowly woke up again.
When she saw Yue Mingxuan, she burst into loud crying. "Your Highness, you should just let me die. Living like this, with neither human nor ghost face, is worse than death."
Yue Mingxuan immediately grabbed her hand and tears began to fall from his own eyes. "Sui He listen to me, I promise I’ll will heal you. How could you be so foolish? If you die, what will I do?"
After she heard Yue Mingxuan say this and thinking of her own pain, Sui He reached out and held onto Yue Mingxuan. "Your Highness... why is our life so bitter..."
Her words touched the deepest wound in Yue Mingxuan’s heart.
Ever since he came to this place, nothing had gone smoothly.
His family and friends could never be seen again in this lifetime and now he couldn’t even protect the people beside him.
Thinking this, Yue Mingxuan’s tears flowed even more uncontrollably.
The two of them held each other and cried like that for about an hour and finally after feeling exhausted, they fell asleep in each other’s arms.
The hidden guard on the roof watched the two people below.
After crying, they both fell asleep without even knowing it.
