CHAPTER 285: THE ROOFTOP ESCAPE

To Shiao Yi, it was like a mortal enemy, something that could completely cripple his powers.

Without wasting another second, Dominic scooped Shiao Yi into his arms and ran down the corridor, his only thought to put as much distance between them and that cursed stone as possible.

They burst out of the building into the open air.

"Shiao Yi, are you okay? Does it still hurt?"

Shiao Yi slowly lifted his head.

Ah, that beloved face, Dominic hadn’t seen it in what felt like forever.

"I-I’m fine. It’s a little better now."

"If that’s so, can you remove these restraints?"

Anger flashed across Shiao Yi’s face as he saw the metal shackles clamped around Dominic’s neck and wrists.

"This is horrible! She kept you chained like this?"

Shiao Yi use his telekinesis to forced the locks open.

Clink... clatter!

The heavy cuffs dropped to the ground, freeing Dominic’s body at last.

"Are you alright, Dominic? You look pale."

Dominic’s expression softened as he answered, "That room was draining my magic. I’ve been nearly exhausted."

"Oh, then can you use this?"

Shiao Yi reached into his pants pocket and pulled out a small pouch.

He then took out several glowing magic stones from his pouch.

"That’s a lifesaver."

Dominic took one of the red stones and gripped it tightly in his palm.

Normally, magic stones were used to store power, but they could also return it to someone who had been drained.

Slowly, the warmth and strength began to flow back into his body.

Once his energy was restored, Dominic reached for his sword, the one Shiao Yi had carefully carried on his back and kept safe for him all this time.

The familiar weight of it in his hand was reassuring.

"Stay here," Dominic said firmly. "There’s a black agate stone inside. It’s too dangerous for you."

Leaving those words behind, Dominic turned around and sprinted back toward the room he had just escaped from.

There were no chains left to stop Dominic’s attacks.

He lifted the hateful sword with force and the shiny stone plate in front of him split cleanly in two.

He cut it again and again.

He held his hand over the scattered pieces, big and small and released his magic.

The black stone that had torn him and Shiao Yi apart and had hurt Shiao Yi made his anger burn even stronger.

Even if this stone was precious for magicians because it can increased the strength of their spells, anything that caused Shiao Yi pain was evil to Dominic.

The remains of the black agate stone that was hit by his magic were crushed into dust finer than sand.

They would never hurt Shiao Yi again.

After Dominic feel satisfied, he turned his ankle to run back to Shiao Yi, but the air beside him suddenly pressed in with a quick thump.

"Shiao Yi?"

Before he could even call out, someone grabbed his arm and the scenery around him changed.

They were now on the roof tiles of a large building.

The decorations here is painted with red and edged with gold color that was shone brightly under the afternoon sun.

The soldiers below were rushing out from different buildings and running toward the inner grounds.

They shouted loudly, clearly confused and unsettled by the situation.

"There was an explosion and then you casting your magic without holding back. Of course they noticed."

Shiao Yi gave a small tired smile as he pulled Dominic into the shade.

They stood between overlapping roofs, a place far less noticeable than the highest point.

"Dominic. I’ve wanted to see you for so long."

Shiao Yi looked up at him, his black eyes soft and wet.

"Shiao Yi. Thank you for rescuing me. I’ve been desperate to see you too."

Dominic pulled Shiao Yi’s small body into his chest and held him tightly.

Ah... it was his Shiao Yi.

Shiao Yi’s scent filled him.

"Dominic, are you okay? They didn’t do anything to you?"

"They restricted my power, but I’m fine."

"That woman’s magic was really strong. I was worried she might overpower you."

Shiao Yi’s eyebrows drooped sadly.

Even that worried look was adorable.

"There’s no way I’d lose to someone like her. Were you that worried about me?"

"Well, you looked pretty worn out and you were eating more than usual. I thought maybe something had tired you out... or left you starving..."

Shiao Yi’s voice grew smaller and smaller as he lowered his head.

He’s so adorable. Was this jealousy?

Dominic couldn’t stop the smile pulling at the corner of his mouth.

"It was because the walls of that room were constantly absorbing my magic power. No matter how much I ate, it keep absorbing my magic power again and again. My strength was sealed, so I couldn’t use magic, and honestly, I couldn’t even move well. It was a real problem."

"I see. That must have been hard for you, Dominic."

Shiao Yi hugged him tightly and Dominic pressed his lips to Shiao Yi’s.

He had wanted these lips for so long.

They were his treasure, something he could never replace.

"Dominic..."

"Shiao Yi..."

The warm and sweet feelings overflowed and the two of them held each other close while kissing deeply as much as they wanted.

"...!"

"Th-there...! They’re up... there!"

A voice shouted from below.

When Dominic looked down, he saw that palace maids and soldiers had gathered and were pointing at them.

They had been spotted.

It was their fault, they had fallen into their own world and forgotten the time and place.

"Dominic, let’s move."

"Yes, that’s better."

Dominic lifted Shiao Yi carefully in his arms.

Shiao Yi wrapped his arms around Dominic’s neck.

In the next moment, the world around Dominic shifted.

They appeared on a hill surrounded by trees.

It might have been somewhere inside the mountain they had seen earlier from the rooftop.

Shiao Yi’s teleportation was as sharp and perfect as ever.

Dominic looked down at the view below while still holding Shiao Yi in his arms.
