In Another World, the Boy Was Spoiled by the Iron Knight!
Chapter 294: The Battle Against the Aeon
CHAPTER 294: THE BATTLE AGAINST THE AEON
Witnessing the current disaster, he could only open his mouth in shock, unable to speak or move.
His skin has been turned pale, it’s seems he already reached his limit.
Even so, he was trying his best to help Isolde.
It was quite admirable.
You never truly know a person by appearance alone.
In moments like this, a person’s true value becomes visible.
Dominic reached into his hidden pocket and pulled out three magic stones that he had received from Shiao Yi and handing them to the man.
The man looked up at him as if asking a question.
Isolde could not notice; she was entirely focused on maintaining the barrier.
"These are masses of magical power. They were made from the power collected from many people, so it is easy to absorb them into yourself. Use them to replenish your magic. We cannot allow this barrier to break. The world depends on you and Isolde. I’m counting on you."
The man nodded firmly and immediately used one of the magic stones.
His pale and exhausted face returned to normal color.
At the same time, he began sending even more magic power to Isolde to support her barrier.
Dominic left Isolde in the care of the man and faced the Aeon again.
The guard soldiers could protect Isolde and the man.
Dominic focused only on cutting the tentacles that were trying to break through the barrier and escape outside.
Against the massive the Aeon, they were far too weak.
No matter how many tentacles they cut, no matter how many pieces they destroyed, the Aeon was barely hurt.
Its tentacles came endlessly, again and again, making this battle feel like it would go on forever.
It would continue, surely, until they were exhausted, until their magic ran dry, until the tentacles swallowed them whole.
A man’s scream rang out.
One of the soldiers fighting on Dominic’s side had been swallowed by a tentacle.
But Dominic was busy fighting off several tentacles attacking him at once and could not go help.
The other soldiers were the same, they had their hands full with their own battles.
Out of the corner of his eye, Dominic saw the soldier’s shape dissolve inside the Aeon.
It reminded him of the time when he saw the great snake Calakmul was swallowed in the demon world.
Was this man also going to have his magic consumed and be changed into a magical beast?
Dominic finally cleared the tentacles around him and rushed to where the soldier had been.
The soldier had been broken down into a dark blue liquid and then reconstructed into a humanoid shape that was colored the same black color as the Aeon.
While Dominic raising his sword, he wondered if there was still a human mind or memory left in that form.
The creature looked at its own dark hand, then at its own changed body.
When it noticed Dominic, a hole slowly opened where its face should have been.
It was opening its mouth and said, "Cut... me... please... while... I... still... can..."
The voice was rough, barely human, begging him.
Dominic was shocked.
The man’s consciousness and reason were still there.
But the transformation into a magical beast was advancing quickly, swallowing his humanity.
The desperate plea made that painfully clear.
If he could keep his mind even a little, then he must have been a strong willed and powerful man with great magic.
Dominic felt it was a terrible loss.
But there was no other way to save him.
The only thing Dominic could do was release the man’s soul from a cruel fate as quickly as possible.
"If fate allows, we will meet again in the next life!"
Dominic swung his flame covered sword and cut the black figure in half.
"Th... ank... you..."
The creature immediately collapsed with a splash, returning completely to dark liquid form.
They had been fighting for who knew how long.
Dominic was beginning to lose his breath.
He ordered any soldier who had used up their strength and could no longer swing their sword to retreat to safety.
After seeing their fellow soldier swallowed by the Aeon and turned into a monster, they obeyed without trying to push themselves too far.
A group of soldiers assigned to protect the royal palace had rushed to help, but many of them were busy fighting the soldiers who had been swallowed by the Aeon, creating a chaotic battlefield.
In the end, it was safe to say that Dominic was the only one continuing to fight properly.
Even so, the odds were overwhelmingly against him.
The number of tentacles the Aeon sent out after breaking through the barrier was increasing rapidly.
Dominic swung his sword while running toward the multiple tentacles attacking Isolde, cutting them down.
At that moment, a dozen or more tentacles shot straight at his back.
He tried to pivot and cut them, but his footing faltered for a moment.
His magic was running low, and his physical strength was nearing its limit.
Even a single delay could be fatal.
He cut a few tentacles with his sword, but the rest slipped past.
Was he about to be eaten?
Shiao Yi’s face flashed in his mind.
Slash!
Slash!
Shash! Slash!
Six short daggers flew through the air, cutting the tentacles just before they reached Dominic.
The severed parts flew back toward the Aeon.
When they hit its body, they disappeared as if melting into the monster itself.
"Dominic! Are you okay?!"
Shiao Yi’s voice called out, filled with worry.
"I’m fine, Shiao Yi! I’m okay!"
"That’s a relief. I was worried."
Even as he spoke, Shiao Yi keep slicing through the tentacles with his dagger that he controlled using telekinesis, throwing the pieces back into the Aeon’s main body.
"I don’t have enough magic to neutralize the Aeon. For now, all I can do is keep it inside the barrier," Shiao Yi said.
A smart choice.
Leaving the Aeon outside the barrier would allow countless more to spawn freely.
