CHAPTER 312: AFTERMATH WORK

Dominic didn’t know anything about space, airtight suits, or that kind of technology, so he only tilted his head again and again, thinking it was a very strange custom.

Did he really understand that Shiao Yi didn’t lack a beard because he was a child?

Shiao Yi wasn’t entirely sure and that made him a little nervous.

After finishing his duty as a special knight, Dominic settled into his new position as the deputy under Lord Quintus.

There was a lot to do and most of it now was cleaning up the aftermath of the Aeon incident.

The supreme commander Quintus worked together with the prime minister Dunyarzad to support the king.

Their jobs were heavy.

They dealt with the knights, the soldiers, and even many matters related to foreign relations.

Dominic had probably been chosen as a future successor to Quintus, but in reality, they were pushing every annoying job onto him.

He was being used very well and very conveniently.

Normally, this was when Shiao Yi’s amazing ability with paperwork would shine, but just when he finally recovered from many things and returned to work, Commander Johan appeared at the perfect timing and dragged him away.

The day before that happened, Dominic heard that Johan had been desperate to retire early and he wanted Dominic as his replacement.

"That’s unfair! So unfair!"

Even though Johan should have been extremely busy with the aftermath just like Quintus, he came to Quintus’s office every day to complain.

"What is unfair? The special knight was under my direct command from the beginning. It is natural for him to become my deputy. There is absolutely no problem. It is perfect personnel placement."

Quintus said this with a calm face and Johan growled back.

"That’s the unfair part! Dominic was originally my knight! You stole him from the side! Even the special knight unit could have stayed in the knight order!"

"Hmph. First come, first served."

"That’s horrible! And you’re the top of Rosaria’s military?!"

Their argument dropped lower and lower in level.

It sounded like growling and roaring animals.

According to Shiao Yi, it was like a lion and a gray bear play fighting.

"Then at least give me Shiao Yi! Let him work under me!"

"Idiot. You want to separate those two? You heartless man."

"Guhhh! See?! It’s unfair! You get to keep Dominic AND Shiao Yi all to yourself!"

Dominic ignored both of them and kept writing.

They were loud, so he wished they would take their fight outside.

The biggest problem was that for some reason they were arguing inside Dominic’s office.

If they wanted to fight, they should do it in Quintus’s office.

Dominic had been buried in paperwork for too long and his stress was rising.

It was about time to move his body.

Maybe he should go see the knights and warm up his shoulders a little.

If Shiao Yi returned to work, he would finally be free from this mountain of papers.

But he knew he had been part of the reason Shiao Yi’s recovery was delayed, so he kept working quietly with the documents.

By tomorrow, Shiao Yi should be able to return to his job.

He only had to endure today.

And when Shiao Yi finally showed his face in the office again, after greeting Quintus, he was immediately taken away by that guy Johan.

Shiao Yi was his. Give him back!

Shiao Yi was supposed to take over all this paperwork starting today.

"Shiao Yi!"

"Wait, Dominic."

When he tried to chase after Shiao Yi with lingering regret, Quintus let out a sigh and stopped him.

"But I have to get Shiao Yi back."

"I understand how you feel. I feel the same. But it can’t be helped. Let the boy borrow Shiao Yi for a while."

"What do you mean borrow... Shiao Yi is not an object."

"They have their own problems too. After all, this time the whole military and the entire knight order were mobilized. We used all our stock of magic stones. Now the finance department and the diplomatic offices are buried in work trying to deal with compensation and reports. Even in the knight order, there are endless documents and reports because everything has turned into an emergency situation."

"Of course, it’s the same here. But at least we still have enough staff to handle the paperwork, so we’re barely functioning. The knight order is... well, you know how they are. Johan’s desk must be in a terrible state right now. This morning he was complaining again that no matter how much he pushes Dunyarzad, no documents ever come back.

So until things settle down a bit, we have no choice but to let Johan borrow Shiao Yi."

After Quintus explained that much, he had nothing left to say.

The truth was that the knight order, in every division, was terrible at paperwork.

Misija’s vice-captain Lyon was the unusual exception.

The current captain of the Second Division, Louis, took Misija as his vice-captain and made full use of Lyon who naturally came along with him.

Rex who became an adjutant was also doing good work.

Then the problem was the other division and commander Johan.

He pictured their faces one by one and shrugged.

They were, like him, more muscle than brain when it came to paperwork.

When he tried to focus again and turned back toward his desk, Quintus motioned to him with his fingers.

"What is it?"

Since Shiao Yi was taken away, he had paperwork again today.

It was understandable if he became a little irritated.

With an expressionless face, he entered Quintus’s office and stood in front of the large desk where Quintus was sitting.

"The king said he wants to reward you and Shiao Yi for your achievements this time."

"As knights, we only did what we were supposed to do. We did nothing special. Shiao Yi feels the same way."

"Yes. I knew you would say that. That is why I did not force you to join the victory parade or the celebration party."
