Indulging Mrs. Lu

CHAPTER 28: CHAPTER 28 YOU’RE TOO PRESUMPTUOUS
I don’t know if Zhuang Shuqing heard him, but the moment he finished speaking, she slammed the door shut.
Outside, Lu Jinyang looked at the closed door with a complex expression and turned away a few seconds later.
Back in the car, his phone rang. Seeing the contact name, a chill flashed through his eyes before he calmly answered.
"Jinyang, it’s Biyang. I’ve reached home, thank you for bringing me back..."
Before she could finish, he interrupted her, "No need to be polite."
Then, he pressed the end call button.
Sitting silently in the Bentley for a while, he then drove away~
-
Early the next morning, when Zhuang Shuqing returned to the office, Li Weonian was already waiting there, frowning upon seeing her: "Zhuang Shuqing, you’ve been fired, why are you still coming back!"
Zhuang Shuqing walked past him, sat down at her desk, and said indifferently, "Editor-in-chief Li, aren’t you here waiting for me?"
Editor-in-chief Li’s face darkened, "You think too highly of yourself."
"If not, that’s for the best." Zhuang Shuqing couldn’t be bothered to argue, standing beside her desk it was obvious to anyone with eyes that he was waiting for her.
"I hope you haven’t forgotten what I told you yesterday."
"Editor-in-chief Li, the company needs to provide compensation for unilateral termination, which I mentioned yesterday. Once I receive the money, I will naturally leave."
"You...! Fine, just wait!" After speaking, Li Weonian left angrily.
Zhuang Shuqing watched him leave with cold eyes, pressing her lips tight. This job wasn’t indispensable for her; she could use this time to return to the orphanage and help Dean Hua. However, there was no way she would let herself be wrongly framed and lose her job.
-
As Li Weonian stepped into his office, a delicate figure threw itself at him, rubbing against him and then clinging to him, asking in a voice so sweet it could rot teeth: "Weonian, what happened to that woman?"
Embraced in warmth, Li Weonian, who had bottled up anger, felt it dissipate by half. His hands wandered over her body as he sneered, "The boss won’t look out for a freshly confirmed intern; any excuse will do. But what about you, did you get the role?"
The woman lifted her chin, her face full of pride, "Of course, she promised me the role of the second female lead for Ning Qian. We’re entering the crew in a couple of days, and it’s going to be a while before we see each other again... Ah... what are you doing?"
Before Ning Qian could react, she was hoisted onto the desk, and Li Weonian smirked lewdly, "We only have two days left; we’d better make the most of the time."
...
Zhuang Shuqing stood outside Li Weonian’s office door, listening expressionlessly to the various uneven sounds inside, her eyebrows twitching again and again. She wondered who was scheming against her from behind. Hearing these sounds, it seemed like Ning Qian, that third-rate actress who never becomes popular no matter how much she’s promoted.
If Li Weonian hadn’t left his files on her desk, and she hadn’t kindly brought them to him, she might have left Xinghai Studio without knowing who was targeting her.
Since it was Ning Qian, the matter made sense. She had helped Tan Biyang get some revenge and clean her reputation; in return, Tan Biyang secured her the role of the second female lead. This might not mean much to others, but for someone who always played third or fourth female roles, it was a pie fallen from heaven.
She took a deep look at the tightly shut glass door, then turned and went to the chief editor’s office.
Seeing her, the chief editor was a bit surprised, "Is everything resolved?"
She shook her head, "Editor-in-chief Li approached me this morning; he hasn’t resolved it yet. Chief editor, could you please help me out?"
Chief editor: "You tell me."
