Chapter 1736: 51: Slaughter
Chapter 1736: Chapter 51: Slaughter
The azure sky, the rippling seawater, along with the gentle sea breeze, make everything immensely calming.
One should be lying on a beach chair, sipping coconut juice, admiring bikini beauties to truly appreciate the beauty of the sea and sky. But at this moment on the ocean, cannon fire roars, and a bloody battle unfolds.
Upon first contact, Zhuo Lie unleashed all his might, making the cannons fire in a volley, determined to sink Tang Zheng’s flagship.
Tang Zheng was not to be outdone. The gun bay was filled with musketeers, and even the deck was packed with cannons. Every three female musketeers were responsible for one gun, bombarding the ghost ship.
The smoke from the muzzle wafted like clouds, not lingering over the sea surface, but quickly being dispersed by the sea breeze.
“Quick, circle around, attack from behind the ghost ship.” Yin Shangwu relied on the ship’s speed, choosing the furthest position, “Signal the other warships to surround the enemy ship.”
Tang Zheng’s flagship had no time for command. As Zhuo Lie’s primary target, it was hit by several cannon shells at once. Although there were no casualties, the cannon shells summoned skeleton sailors, instantly disrupting the ship’s environment.
The ordinary sailors lost their will to fight, filled with fear, but fortunately, the female musketeers were strong, wielding firearms and daggers, engaging in battle with the skeleton sailors.
Nearly a hundred sea ships stopped at five hundred yards away, the conquerors aboard staring at the intense naval battle, dumbfounded and overwhelmed by its brutality.
Though there was only one ghost ship, its firepower was not only overwhelming, its defense was also incredibly robust, withstanding what felt like a hailstorm from Tang Zheng’s flagship.
Solid cannonballs hit the ship’s side, as if striking a metal armor, bouncing off with a bang, leaving only some scorch marks.
“That’s the ghost ship known as the demon ship, which frequently appeared at sea fifty years ago and allegedly single-handedly annihilated a Spanish Armada fleet.”
“Captain, let’s retreat, we can’t possibly win.”
The sailors had no desire to battle this monster, terrified by the deafening cannon fire and whizzing cannonballs, their faces pale.
Bam, a stray cannonball hit a ship, instantly summoning dozens of skeletons, throwing the crew into chaos.
“The ghost ship’s accuracy is average, but its firing rate is very fast. Tang Zheng’s flagship fires quickly as well, with great accuracy, but its defense is too weak. If this continues, he’ll definitely be sunk first.” Jessica licked her lips, consumed with tension.
Though both sides were in a stalemate stage, no one had faith in Tang Zheng. His ship was too fragile, and with each hit, splinters shattered, and as the hits accumulated, skeletons increased, with nearly half the sailors killed. If not for the female musketeers, it would have already been rendered immobile.
“Attack, attack with everything!” Dong Zixuan roared, feeling powerless, relying on the sailors who couldn’t cause damage, utterly ineffective.
The remaining six sea ships reached their designated positions, surrounding the ghost ship, constantly unleashing firepower. Yet neither solid rounds nor grapeshot had any significant effect.
Cannonballs couldn’t penetrate the ship’s sides, only crushing some skeletons on the deck, but Zhuo Lie would summon more in an instant.
“What are you all standing around for? Help out, once he finishes us, you’re next.” Jiang Xiuming signaled to inform other fleets.
The conquerors were indecisive, the ghost ship was formidable. If not for Tang Zheng withstanding its assault, no one here could defeat it, yet this very fact filled them with trepidation towards the warhammer team.
“Let them fight it out a while longer.”
“So powerful, just how many abilities does Tang Zheng have? Though those female musketeers don’t individually have strong attacks, their sheer number makes them formidable for any foe.”
“The main thing is that these female gunners are intelligent, capable of anything. Look at their accuracy, it’s terrifyingly high.”
The conquerors were iron-hearted in letting them battle to mutual destruction.
Jiang Xiuming saw he couldn’t persuade them, growing agitated to the point of toothache. Although they had eight ships, only Tang Zheng’s posed an actual threat.
“Brother Zhuo, keep cool.” Zi Xin aimed at the captain in the steel cage, and when a cannonball flew by his body, he began to dissuade him, “Seize the upwind position.”
“Rush forward, block its course.” Tao Ran ordered without hesitation, intent on being a meat shield, much to the first mate’s dour expression.
“Captain, if we do that, we’ll all die.”
Bam, Tao Ran didn’t explain, simply shot the first mate’s head off, then looked at the others, “Do as I say, or you’ll die immediately.”
With Hero Level strength of Black Long Straight, it was enough to crush these people.
The sailors eyed each other warily, then suddenly a few bold ones lunged forward at Tao Ran, unwilling to die, plotting to seize the ship and escape.
A massive snake emerged out of nowhere, swallowing a sailor whole, leaving no trace. The remaining natives were frightened, forced to brave death and charge forth.
“Signal, gather all the ships here.” Tang Zheng waved his right hand, with gravity like a hurricane, sweeping the entire deck, sending skeleton sailors into the seawater.
“Quickly sail over.” Jiang Xiuming, though unsure of Tang Zheng’s intention, knew following his directive was the right course.
“Captain, the flagship has issued orders.” The sailors felt a huge relief, urging Tao Ran.
Turning and maneuvering were time-consuming, but the distance of less than a thousand yards was covered in no time.
Three minutes later, the warhammer team linked end-to-end, forming an arc.
“What are they doing? Are they trying to make a bigger target?” Jessica almost laughed to death at this apparent folly, now the ghost ship’s volley should certainly hit something.
Not only Miranda, but the other Conquerors also didn’t laugh. Tang Zheng was no fool; there had to be a purpose behind his actions, something they hadn’t realized yet, and indeed, the next moment, he provided the answer.
Tang Zheng went all out, consuming a significant number of potions to replenish life energy, summoning the female gunners with full force.
As a red light enveloped the eight warships, it was like cloning in an instant; female gunners in Baroque-style clothing appeared on the deck.
Without any small talk or disturbance, under the squad leader’s command, the gunners summoned the cannons, lined them up on the deck, and aimed at the ghost ship.
Boom, boom, boom!
A total of five hundred cannons roared at that instant, and no words could describe such wild momentum, like thunder, like a tsunami, as the cannon shells tore through the air, crashing towards the ghost ship.
The dense sounds, like exploding beans, spread across the sea, making people’s eardrums ache.
The ghost ship was only scratched, but the repelling force of the cannon shells was effective, forcibly pushing it back several meters.
The second volley came, with the Warhammer Team noticeably faster by half a beat, but the skeleton gunners were not far behind, as their hit rate gradually increased.
“Push up, engage in close combat!” Ordinarily, a regular warship would have been blown to bits by now. Seeing that the hull couldn’t be destroyed, Tang Zheng shouted. The big boss clearly regarded Zhuo Lie as an enemy; once released, it would be a fighting force.
“Blast them fiercely for me.” Watching the ghost ship remain unharmed, Zhuo Lie was so excited he nearly went mad. A cannon shell shot towards his head, and he directly swung his iron fist to deflect it.
The deflected shell flew five hundred yards before crashing into a sea ship watching from afar, and a few sailors couldn’t dodge in time, their bodies getting severed.
“Brother Zhuo, create more distance.” Zi Xin warned, predicting the next move of the battle.
Tao Ran’s nerves suddenly tensed, the Trembling Witch activated on its own, deploying the Sighing Barrier. As a Fate Series power, it inherently interferes with all forces affecting cause and effect.
“Brother Tang, the opposite side has Fate Series powers, releasing abilities.” Tao Ran shouted, at such a close distance, no need for flag signals, everyone could communicate.
Zhuo Lie would unconditionally execute any of Zi Xin’s words, knowing he wouldn’t harm him.
Compared to other sea ships, the ghost ship had a significant advantage. Zhuo Lie didn’t even need to steer; a thought would drive the ghost ship, with the model ship as the control core.
Jiang Xiuming launched his psychic illusion, while Dong Zixuan was anxiously pacing in circles, but to no avail.
“Have you noticed? That woman actually doesn’t go all out?”
“This is too bizarre; Tang Zheng truly is a nice guy. If it were any other team, that woman would be dead by now. How could she have entered the Holy Land?”
The Conquerors’ eyesight was sharp. Seeing Dong Zixuan’s firepower, they couldn’t help but shake their heads, she and Fang Zhiwen were purely useless.
Yin Shangwu activated his ability.
Zhuo Lie was at the peak of excitement when suddenly he heard Zi Xin’s warning.
“Watch your back!”
Even though there was nothing behind him, Zhuo Lie still dodged and fiercely punched out.
A few strands of air blades appeared, skimming past Zhuo Lie, and then a semi-transparent mass of air was swatted out and crushed by a steel gate.
“Although the level isn’t high, this power is so eerie.” Zhuo Lie always felt something lurking in the surrounding air, watching him with hungry eyes, ready to pounce and take a bite.
Tao Ran unleashed his ultimate ability, suddenly revealing a Sword of Damocles above Zhuo Lie’s head, but before it could strike, it shattered.
Zi Xin and Tao Ran each spat a mouthful of blood, the clash of Destiny Powers, although invisible, inflicted considerable injuries on them.
“Brother Zhuo, kill that girl with the black long straight hair first.” Zi Xin was shocked, looking at Tao Ran; with her presence, his ability would be significantly weakened.
“No problem.” As Zhuo Lie pointed with his right hand, the muzzle turned, focusing fire on Tao Ran’s vehicle.
“Gravity Abyss!”
A White Dwarf Star glowed above Tang Zheng’s head, radiating gravity fields. Due to the distance, the ability was somewhat weakened. Although some cannon shells veered off, a few still hit the target.
“It’s almost deciding the winner.” The Conquerors sighed.
Tang Zheng began using life energy indiscriminately to control the field on a large scale, which would undoubtedly result in enormous consumption and couldn’t last long, so not being attacked right now was not an optimistic sign.
“Brother Zhuo, once more.”
With the ghost ship’s bombardment, Zi Xin focused on Tang Zheng, launching the power of destiny.
Tang Zheng was about to control the field, but his head shook, inexplicably causing his ability to misfire.
The distance between both sides was less than two hundred yards, and most of the cannon shells hit Tao Ran’s sea ship, leaving it riddled with holes. (To be continued.
