CHAPTER 51: A CONVERSATION WITH AN ELDER IS HARD TO END!

Chapter 51: A Conversation With An Elder Is Hard To End!

After the elder had finished with his tea, Ken once again asked some questions.

Some he already knew, and some he had thought about but didn’t find particularly important to waste time on.

But here, he was trying to build a relationship with the elder and also study him more than benefit from the question.

"We truly weren’t wrong about you, young man." The elder suddenly said.

"You should know that most elders about this time are scrambling to get you." He said.

"As foundation establishment cultivators, we care about treasures to deepen our foundation more than anything, but when it comes to disciples, especially talented ones, we cross the line." The elder said with very slight sadness on his face.

Ken knew that this elder in front of him had a position as the pagoda protector and couldn’t get out of the sect like all others. Because of this, taking him as a disciple was a foregone possibility.

But...

"But with your current talent, outer sect disciples like me and the others will struggle to get you." He said.

"Elder." Ken suddenly called.

"I believe in a saying." He started.

"He who teaches you a word, to him you become a slave." Ken said.

This was a saying. As exaggerated as it was, it did its job of impressing the elder.

"Hahahaha! Young man, you are a handful." The elder let go of all demeanor and laughed heartily.

For Ken, it was simple to show gratitude, but for the elder, it meant much more.

As he said, all advice is priceless, and even a word thought by an individual makes you indebted to them.

What this meant for both him and Ken is that, whatever benefits a disciple brings to his master, he can expect from him.

This simple sentence made Ken rise several levels in the elder’s eyes. His smile widened, and a veil that was covering his face this entire time started falling off.

It was such a powerful veil that Ken hadn’t realized it was up till now.

And only now could he see the elder’s face.

Middle-aged. This was the first thought that came to mind.

Wise brown eyes, a wild and lush black beard, and hair that fell freely beyond his shoulders.

He looked free beyond words and more like a fighter than a spirit path cultivator.

"From this day forward, you may see me as an elder master. I will be here if you need anything. And whatever you do in the future, remember that you have me behind your back." The elder smilingly stated.

This wasn’t a formal disciple-master ceremony; it was honorary, but it made the two have a higher relationship than just elder-disciple but less than master-student.

"This disciple thanks the elder master." Ken got up, bowed respectfully, and sat down for the elder to serve him a cup of tea.

"No need for all the formalities." The elder said.

From today forward their relationship was no longer simple, and it went to show that things, while they seemed very simple and said on a whim, had a much higher consequence than others could determine.

This was an example of how things in this world worked.

"You have another 3rd-floor pass, am I correct? What do you plan on using it for?" The elder asked after Ken took the first sip; their talk was more casual than before.

"The Perception Mastery book, elder master." Ken stated.

"Hmm? That’s a good choice, but it will take you a long time to understand. If you ever have difficulty understanding it, you may come to me." The elder said.

And with these words, Ken’s eyes lit up.

He seemed to remember something.

While the idle training allowed him to perfect the technique easily and at an unbelievable rate, to actually get to start training, it was hard.

And he had actually skimmed through the books the previous day in the library.

If the Spirit Cultivation book took him 4 hours, and the Spirit Forging technique took the original Ken a month.

Then this one would actually take a month to start mastering, even for this Ken.

Not to mention that he has two such books, though the Useful Records should take much less time due to his Efficiency Records.

But with the Elder around, he should significantly reduce that time.

"I shall do so, elder master." Ken then replied.

"Give me your pass." The elder said.

"Here." and Ken complied.

And then, in what seemed like a flash, the elder took hold of a book from midair.

"Your book." The elder then handed him the book.

Had Ken not known what he wanted this time, the leader might have brought multiple choices for him to choose from, but seeing that the young man already had a choice in mind made things easier.

Ken took hold of the book and thanked the elder.

"You can stay here for as long as you like." The elder then said, giving Ken a few glances.

"Then I will trouble the elder." Seeing as he had the chance, Ken agreed.

Then the two spent a good few minutes just silent, with no words exchanged.

Then when the air was right, Ken started asking questions regarding the book.

The day passed, night came, and the elder sent Ken off, with the latter promising to return the next day.

Now, he had to return to his job at the library, and having nothing else to do the entire day, he spent the rest of it with the elder.

This way, time once again passed freely.

And the time for Ken to take on his first mission at the sect approached.

His previous techniques had all turned into arts, from Spirit Forging to the latest Restraining Order skill, and he was also able to start the new one’s idle training.

Good progress was visible, and his view of the world had also grown faster with the help of an actual elder.

All in all, Ken knew that he had made the right choice.
