CHAPTER 108: THREAT ON THE KING

Jayden had to come up with a plan with The Core, as they suggested notifying the king about it and bringing up the rebellion case as a cause.

There was no other smart way to spark the chaos than this, and Jayden knew that.

King Arthur was in his chamber alone when the call from Trix reached him. With an insane pace, he quickly picked up with an excited smile on his face, thinking she had actually called to inform him that The Dominus was ready to fund the Megacity Project.

However, he was completely wrong.

"Miss Trix... Heh... I have been waiting," he laughed softly as he gripped the phone tightly, gasping softly in anticipation.

"King Arthur. The Dominus has news for you," Trix began without even responding to his greetings.

Still in anticipation, King Arthur smiled and nodded. "Okay, I’m listening..."

His voice was sharp and confident, since he had already been told that The Dominus was very likely to honor his proposal, so his mind was very far from a possible disappointment.

And that was what hit hard in the end.

"The Dominus will not be honoring the deal. He has completely withdrawn from any talks that have to do with it. Apologies, King Arthur," Trix stated, her voice calm and collected.

"What... What? What did you just say?" King Arthur’s eyes dilated at once, as his nerve dropped.

"The Dominus will not be honoring the Megacity Project proposal deal. He’s withdrawn and does not want any talks about it," Trix repeated, this time with her voice louder.

"You can’t tell me that! DON’T!!!"

"Do you know who I am? I am the King of Nortasia... I am his ruler... He can’t just make such a disappointment... The Megacity Project is something that would benefit the nation! I will punish him! I will punish him for this!"

King Arthur went mad at once, his voice vibrating in the chamber as he rained more frustrated insults. He was trying to be hard, but Trix only knew he was speaking out of frustration.

The big thing was that Jayden was in the same room where Trix was and was hearing everything the king was saying.

The call was a protected one, as Byta (Charlotte) had made sure to secure all connections in Dominion Island and made them untraceable to anyone, anywhere.

"What nation? The divided one or the one which is soon to wage war against itself?" Trix then asked, following Jayden’s unnoticeable directions.

"What are you talking about?! You know nothing about Nortasia, you foreigner," King Arthur barked.

It was true. No member of The Core was announced to be from Nortasia, as they had been given different nationalities after the change of identities.

Trix (Temi) chuckled. "Well, I have been in this country for many years. I’m more like a citizen now," she said.

"You have the guts to speak to me in a disrespectful manner after disappointing me?!!! You and the rest of your mates will be arrested and punished, together with your pathetic and irrational boss who calls himself The Dominus. I’ll deal with you all!"

King Arthur didn’t stop ranting, as his tone grew harsher and louder with every new statement.

But Trix remained composed.

"We all know what you don’t want to do, King Arthur... and it has been your biggest fear—losing the Royal Throne to Democracy, even though you know it’s the right thing," Trix began.

King Arthur’s heart jerked the moment she said that, like a certain heat had hit him in the chest, feeling the weight of that statement.

"We are in support of the people. Step down. Accept Democratic Rule, and maybe... just maybe you can be one of the rulers. Depends on how you step..."

"I won’t step down!" King Arthur cut in with a crazily loud voice, as Jayden, who was some meters away from Trix, flinched due to the impact.

"I won’t step down. This family has been ruling Nortasia for almost a century. It won’t end in my time. Not when I’m alive. They can go ahead and bring the rebellion. They will never defeat the Military Force," King Arthur added.

"Well, you would have to guess again, because you have no idea what’s coming to you, my king. You have to make a final decision within three days. Step down permanently and let Democratic Rule rise, just like every other country out there, or face the heat that comes with the opposite."

"Are you threatening me? Your King? I can order your death in minutes!" King Arthur bellowed in anger, clenching his fist.

"Well, you can try. Like I said... you have three days. The world might become too uncomfortable for you after that. You have the opportunity to prevent a bad end, my king..."

"Use it."

With that, Trix ended the call.

Jayden gave her a proud smile and a high-five after that, and then they moved on with planning for the other activities.

They went into the main living room when Charlotte approached Jayden with a small black box in her hand.

"First craft?" Jayden asked with a shaky smile, and she smiled back as well with a nod.

It was right. Charlotte had just finished her first tech product, and they couldn’t be more eager to see what it was.

She opened the box and brought out black glasses, more like a sunshade, as it glowed faintly.

"Shadow Glass. Crafted with super-intelligent tech strategies. Once you wear it, you become invisible, but it deactivates after ten minutes. I’m trying to create one that can last longer, but it’s not as easy as it sounds. But trust me, I will..." Charlotte said.

Jayden nodded and gave the glasses a long look, then went ahead and wore them, disappearing at that point in front of all of them.

Becky: "Whoa, that’s amazing."

Paula: "Really smart stuff. Would be very useful for the fighter guys."

Harper: "Can’t we just kill the King with this? End his life, case closed. War prevented."

Everyone turned to her at once and chuckled.

"The invisibility can only last for ten minutes. The security facilities in the palace cover about fifty minutes of walk or a twenty-hour maximum ride. Before you even reach the main gate, it would deactivate," Camilia told her.

"Well, that’s why I have to work harder. I have to get back to work," Charlotte suddenly felt down and walked out of the scene, back to her tech unit.

"Well, I have a new craft too, and I think it’s much cooler than Charlotte’s," Harper stepped forward and approached her boyfriend.

"Okay?" Jayden smiled and nodded.

At that point, Harper brought out a gun from the bag she brought.

One that looked more like a rifle.

"Whoa... What’s this?" Camilia’s eyes widened.

And with a wry smile, Harper announced,

"Her name’s Shock Wrath."
