Infinite Wealth System: Crazy Tasks, Insane Rewards!
Chapter 113: The Attack
CHAPTER 113: THE ATTACK
After doing the opposite of what King Arthur had urged him to do, Jayden knew he would surely be hunted.
But that wasn’t much of a problem at this point. As Jayden Cole, he was still a rich man who could sponsor his own security, even though it wouldn’t be as effective as that of The Dominus.
Jayden had already readied the bulletproof Orion V produced by Zintech. He had deliberately brought the SUV with him for security purposes, knowing that he would be risking things after that speech.
"They must be figuring out how to kill me now..." Jayden said. "Let’s see how they try. I’m ready."
He didn’t care to meet up with Martin Blake before he left, definitely because he knew that Martin was working with the King already.
Surprise?
Well, here was the deal...
When Camilia, Becky, and Harper had arrived there earlier, they had installed a recording device which Charlotte gave to them before they left Dominion Island.
Jayden couldn’t be stupid enough to trust Martin easily, and thanks to his maxed-out Intelligence as The Dominus...
No one could fool him.
The Orion V reached the airport in no time, as they took the flight that led them to Cloudbridge City at once.
Jayden’s plan was to head straight to the apartment where it had all begun.
Mr. Collins’s apartment, which was located on the outskirts of Cloudbridge City. This was the best place he could be at this point in time, until everything was settled.
On his way to Cloudbridge City, what he had almost expected happened.
Sure, no one could mess with the king and see the next sunset... It was true.
Jayden expected the worst, now or later...
But this one was now...
Gunshots rang out as three bikes approached from behind. They were three assassins for sure, all masked under black helmets.
These men held what looked like M4 carbines, as they fired repeatedly at the windows.
They happened to notice it was bulletproof at one point and had to keep shooting.
However, the astonishing thing was that the bullets weren’t even leaving a scratch on the car.
That’s what to expect from a thirty-five-million-dollar car, right?
Normally, it was expected that the durability of the bulletproof glass would reduce after several rounds of shooting, but that possibility seemed like forever here.
KA-KA-KA-KA!!!
KA KA KA KA KA KA!
The highway went wild, and people began to storm out of their cars, escaping the scene for their lives.
Jayden’s hired driver, Luke, was beginning to freak out, and Jayden had to calm him down.
"Hey, chill... Look around. Does it look like we are getting killed?" Jayden asked.
Luke glanced around all parts of the car, shivering, and then he shook his head without saying a word... The funny thing was that he was still shivering in fear.
That was normal... Jayden knew, even though he wasn’t scared at all.
Even after shooting for quite a while, the assassins didn’t relent, even though the driver tried to drive off and out-speed them.
The message was clear: Jayden was clearly wanted dead.
After reaching a certain area...
"Stop!" Jayden commanded.
Luke’s eyes dilated. "Huh? Stop? They are going to kill us, sir..."
"Just stop the damn car," Jayden said.
The moment Luke stopped, Jayden moved to the driver’s seat while he asked Luke to sit in the other front seat.
Luke had no idea what his boss had in mind at that point, but whatever he wanted to do to save them, he was in.
He didn’t want to die... not with a newly wedded wife and a three-month-old waiting at home...
"Tighten your seatbelt," Jayden turned to Luke and said, and then when he did...
He zoomed.
The three bike assassins followed quickly, shooting occasionally as they seemed to have some rounds in store.
At one point, it was clear that they would have to follow Jayden to wherever he’d stop. Or sure, his car was likely to break down when it ran out of fuel, well... Orion V uses electricity, which means its battery would run down.
They were ready to finish this job today, no matter how difficult or stubborn the target could be.
******
Camilia, Harper, and Paula were in the main living room when a sudden broadcast popped up on the TV.
It was a scene of three bikes chasing after an SUV. One that wasn’t really popular.
Sure, none of them knew it was Jayden in the SUV, since they had never seen him with the Orion V before.
The scene continued with the SUV tackling the bikers around. They noticed that the SUV was trying to hit the bikers, while the bikers shot at it.
"There are no breaks or even scratches on the car even after those shots? Is this AI?" Paula asked, her eyes filled with doubt.
"I’m stunned too. But whoever the driver is, he has a bow from me," Harper said as she nodded.
"True, a typical driver would have driven off the bridge instead," Camilia chuckled.
They all were cozy in the living room, enjoying the moment, getting captivated with every move the SUV driver made—until Charlotte walked in.
"What are you all doing? Jayden is supposed to have called after the campaign. The campaign has been over for three hours now and we still haven’t heard from him," Charlotte said with a worried tone as she approached them.
"Maybe catching up with something... I think he is—"
Harper was suddenly interrupted.
Just at that point...
The moment Charlotte took a short look at the TV and read the headline on the screen.
"Armed Bikers Chasing SUV Driver on Sucoma Highway Bridge?"
Charlotte gave the car a closer look...
"The Orion V???" Her eyes dilated.
"What? Do you know the car?" Camilia asked with a curious look, as she slowly stood up.
"That’s... the Orion V. Produced in Jayden’s company, Zintech. Where I work as his secretary," Charlotte said, her voice breaking.
Harper furrowed her brows, revealing that she wanted more explanation.
"Only Jayden has it in the whole country. He requested one just yesterday. I was notified..." Charlotte added.
At that point, Camilia’s jaw dropped the moment she understood where this was going.
With a cracky, faint tone, she muttered:
"Jayden is in that car?"
Charlotte had to nod, as she was completely speechless.
"Oh my god! We have to help him. Harper, you have to send some men. If he dies, we all die," Camilia shouted as she rushed out of the house.
Harper had to figure a way out, and thanks to her instincts, she was able to come up with a plan before joining Camilia.
No matter what, they couldn’t leave the villa unmasked, so they had to prepare well.
"You don’t have to go with me, Camilia. I will get the job done. Trust me," Harper told Camilia.
"I don’t have to go, my ass! I’m coming with you, and you are not stopping me," Camilia said, insisting.
Harper had no choice but to let her go with them, and soon, they assembled in the chopper, definitely owned by The Dominus.
Harper and Camilia were the only ladies on the chopper, with two other men who flew it.
They quickly soared towards Sucoma Highway in no time, and were lucky to have spotted them early on.
There, the three bikers were chasing and trying to jump onto the car, since it appeared their bullets could never penetrate the car.
The only way was to break in and assassinate the target.
What’s interesting? Camilia and Harper didn’t expect that move from Jayden...
Jayden had suddenly hit one of the bikers before he could get close and throw himself at the Orion V.
The bike and the rider were suddenly blown into the lagoon where the bridge was constructed.
Indistinct gasps rose.
"Well, the job is easier... Let’s get closer."
With a command to the pilots, they went nearer.
The attackers spotted the helicopter and suddenly thought it was assistance from the palace; however, it wasn’t—until a sniper bullet hit one of the bikers and the other discovered he was cooked.
Yes, Harper killed him.
"You can’t try to kill my man and go free. Ain’t no way," she muttered.
The moment the last man realized this, he tried to abandon the mission as he began to run for his life.
Full speed without looking back, he passed the SUV and zoomed forward, but Harper had decided she wasn’t letting him go.
But this time, she wasn’t killing this one.
With a straight aim on his leg, she took the shot, sending him crashing on the gravel road, surely severely injured.
The moment they noticed the attackers were eliminated, Harper and Camilia knew what they had to do.
They had to leave without meeting him, because that person right there, to the people, wasn’t The Dominus.
It was Jayden Cole, and arriving to save him was surely going to cause wild suspicion.
With clear confirmation that it was safe, and that he was pretty close to Cloudbridge City, they soared back to Dominion Island.
....
Jayden, on the other hand, watched the chopper soar away, and a wide smile covered his face.
He surely knew who they were.
"Harper again... Magnificent."
