CHAPTER 156: IT WAS POLIVER

The choppers landed at the side as Harper stepped out with some other men.

The van was completely upside down, as smoke soared out of some parts of it.

With a straight look, she ordered the men to break through the windows and bring every figure outside.

First, it was Razer, who was completely down and unconscious. Harper gave him a look of disgust and gave one of the men a signal to shoot him in the head.

TARR!

They brought out two other men and did the same, making sure that they were confirmed dead, and finally...

The last robber inside the van... When they removed the mask, they discovered that it was a lady.

A young lady.

Harper sighed with a scowl.

One of the men, taking it like an order, raised his gun and pointed to shoot, but Harper suddenly stopped him.

"Stop!" she ordered, holding his hand.

He immediately brought his hand down.

Harper gave the unconscious body another long look, observing the bruises and cuts on her face.

There was a wound that was making her bleed hard, and as soon as Harper noticed this, she couldn’t help but sigh.

"She’s coming with us. Give her all the first aid required. Don’t let her die."

With that, they carried the lady with them and headed back to the island... The Excellence Area where the President of the Democratic Republic of Nortasia resides.

...

Rhea was just there, unconscious, unaware of where she was, and even where she was being taken to.

Everything was just going to be a success in some minutes, but it had taken a drastic turn, and she... She might just have failed to turn up for her sister.

******

After trying to investigate if Alfred was working with Sofia, they finally found out the truth.

Thanks to Charlotte’s search of every sound record in the past days around the whole island. She was the one who had actually installed those passive records in case of any issues that might happen in the future, and somehow, it had turned up for her in the end.

The real traitor... Was Poliver.

Poliver had reportedly been having an affair with Sofia when she was still on the island. He was in love with her body and would do anything just to have enough of her...

Sofia had to hook him up with her own pursuits.

"Help me, and I’ll help you."

That was how Poliver turned completely against the man who transformed his life and joined the one who wanted to destroy him.

But now, he was caught, brought to the defence unit, where he was questioned.

Jayden soon joined them in no time after Temi informed him.

"What... What more do you know she’s planning?" Jayden asked.

"A lot. You are all gonna die," Poliver said, his eyes glinting as he laughed.

One of the officers angrily punched him in the face.

POW!

But Jayden gave him a signal to back off.

Jayden bent and stared right at Poliver’s eyes.

"I understand you. I know you did what you did for a purpose. We all do things for things we love, and that’s no big deal... But you have to understand that she’s not the good type. She would cause catastrophes, and the blood of many would be in your hands," Jayden said.

"You can’t convince me. As soon as she finds out I am being captured here, she will come for me with her men. You have to get that in your minds... You all will die," Poliver said and laughed again.

His stubbornness made Jayden furious at once, as he stood up.

"Well, let’s wait for her to come save you," he said and paused. "But if she doesn’t show up, you would have to rest in peace, Poliver."

With that, Jayden walked out of the room, with Harper and Charlotte following up.

"He won’t say a word!" Harper shouted.

"It’s expected. He thinks Sofia would come for him. That’s the most stupid thing to think of. He doesn’t really know who she is," Jayden said, shaking his head.

"He’s been serving her information. That bastard told them about Becky and Cammy’s movement. He was behind the attack," Charlotte said with a serious tone.

Jayden could only clench his fist because he knew taking quick action wasn’t the best option yet.

This Poliver guy would have to tell them a lot before he served the punishment for his crimes.

For now, Jayden would just find something to cool off his head.

For the first time, he had realised that they weren’t entirely safe here. He couldn’t believe that the people he thought were loyal could actually betray him.

If one of them could do this, then why wasn’t there a reason to be cautious?

Entering the living room, it was Camilia and Temi conversing. Jayden sat on a different couch and sighed, and his presence drew their attention.

"It was Poliver, right?" Temi asked.

Jayden nodded. "Yeah... He’s confident that she would save him."

Camilia and Temi chuckled.

"Really? How stupid," Camilia commented.

"Harper just took down her men while they were escaping after robbing a bank. She only spared the lady who is still in a coma... Hasn’t she told him that?" Temi asked.

"I don’t think so... I don’t think Sofia knows either. She doesn’t even know we know that she sent the assassins. That’s another funny thing too," Jayden said.

"Now that she’s lost them, I think it’s high time we find her," Camilia said.

Jayden nodded. "Yes, but it might not be easy. Sofia is a tough person. She can do anything to get what she wants, even if it costs her much..."

Jayden suddenly remembered when she asked him to get her an iPhone 30, which he didn’t have enough to afford.

Sofia failed to consider the fact that he had done enough to get her the iPhone 29, and threatened to break up with him if he didn’t get it for her.

Jayden remembered skipping classes every day and even skipping meals, doubling his side jobs, going out so early and returning very late with an aching back.

Still, she never acknowledged that effort, and would always see him as a loser.

It wasn’t long after he bought her the iPhone 30 that she left him for Royce, but well, Jayden didn’t want to remember that anymore.

"So, what do we do?" Camilia then asked.

"We try to make Poliver talk. If he tells us what she’s planning, then we can make our move and prepare for whatever comes," Jayden said.

Camilia and Becky nodded, understanding his plan at once.

Jayden soon left the living room, entering into his room.

He was now faced with a controversy that was trying to weigh him down.

President Liam Thompson was already threatening to wage war on Nortasia, and the Southerners weren’t even cooperating.

As if that wasn’t enough... There was this little get-tough ex-girlfriend of his who’s trying to destroy him and The Core...

.

Author’s Question: What if he’s got an idea of what was coming? That would completely cause fear in him, right?

.

Jayden hoped that things didn’t go south, because he knew that his assignment wasn’t done.

He would always tell himself...

"Nah, I’d win."

A hundred and fifty thousand soldiers.

A hundred and fifty Mech War Suits.

Two great leaders from the very same world they were planning to destroy.

After so long, the Mech Suits were ready, and it was time for the soldiers of Nexus to prepare for the big show ahead.

Now it was time for the Chosen Ones to begin their duty... The main reason why they had been brought here after the people of their own kind wanted them dead.

Royce and Kael stood before the crowd in the high stands somewhere in The Capitol.

"Tomorrow, we all settle at the Greenfield. We would train every damn minute until every single one of you is ready for the journey," Royce said.

"Every figure amongst you remains equal, as the Grandmaster had said. We would make sure everyone is ready. But still, you all have to be hardworking, diligent, and brave. You won’t want to be the last to pass the training test, would you?" Kael asked, as the entire crowd began to murmur.

Kael smiled. "That’s right. That’s right... Then let’s see what you’ve got!"

The crowd cheered as their favourite man spoke, making Royce grit his teeth in envy... He didn’t even waste any more time, as he walked out of the stand and entered the building.

The hyper-modern penthouse was built specifically for the both of them, but they still lived in entirely different parts of the building.

With a wave, Kael also left the stand and entered the building, as the crowd began to dismiss.

"Hey, Royce..."

"Royce!"

Kael called a couple of times over but Royce deliberately decided not to respond, and when he finally did...

"What do you want?"

"What? Why are you acting so cold lately?" Kael asked, confused.

"Me? Cold? Are you serious right now?" Royce asked with a serious look, trying to prove that Kael was lying.

"I have been attentive. You can’t hide it anymore, Royce... What’s wrong? What did I do wrong?" Kael asked, his face serious as well.

"If there’s anything... Tell me what I did wrong," Kael added.

Royce stood there for a moment without saying a word, and soon, he finally left a response.

"Everything."
