Chapter 169: I Still Don’t Believe You
CHAPTER 169: I STILL DON’T BELIEVE YOU
It didn’t take long before President Liam Thompson was informed about the Aegis V that the Nortasian government had installed.
As expected, President Liam only laughed casually, which clearly showed that he was underrating the capabilities of Nortasia.
Of course, why would he not underestimate them? After all, they weren’t even among the top 50 strongest countries in the world. Would they be expecting something serious from them?
Well, President Liam wasn’t moved an inch after hearing that news, but that same day, he decided to question Sofia, who was still in the Icelandian Defence custody.
After being held for more than a week, Sofia was a total mess.
Sure, she wasn’t being treated badly like the rest of the prisoners, but that didn’t change the fact that she was one of them.
In fact, President Liam had already made it clear that she would never leave the cell until President Jayden surrendered.
That... Sofia wasn’t even taking a moment to hope that Jayden would ever surrender.
She knew him better than any other person in the world, and she knew that Jayden Cole would never surrender under any circumstances.
That was completely certain.
When she settled in the blank, dimly lit room, President Liam was already sitting across from her.
He had a stern look pasted on his face, like he would punch her any moment, but Sofia was up for it.
She was going to do whatever it took to make these people believe her, and she would do it quickly.
"Tell me what you know about the Defence Systems recently planted in your country, Nortasia," President Liam asked.
"They won’t surrender..."
President Liam furrowed his brows in disgust as she gave him an entirely off-topic answer, the scowl on his face tightening.
"What? Is that what I asked you?" he asked, clenching his fist.
"They are good with technology and mechanics. Before you can beat them, you would need my help. That’s why I came in the first place," Sofia said.
"Bullshit! Mister President, don’t believe her. This is one of their plans," the Commander of the station, who had followed Liam in, said.
He nodded. "I know... I’m not stupid."
"Not believing me proves you are..." Sofia said and suddenly paused, noticing the weight of what she had just said. "Uhh... I’m sorry, but you should consider what I’m saying. We both have the same enemies. Trust me."
President Liam stared harshly as he heard her speak, and not cutting her off gave Sofia the chance to pour out all they needed to know.
All they needed to hear to probably make them believe her.
"The Core members. They are all insanely skilled women with expertise in different fields. I once worked in Nortasia’s Defence Unit, and I saw how they crafted extraordinary weapons, weapons that are completely new to this world."
"You can’t beat them if you don’t know how to stop them, because they would strike hard. They have the power to destroy the entire Icelandia in no time..."
"That’s why their President, my ex-boyfriend, isn’t backing down. It’s not because he’s stubborn or stupid, it’s because he knows what he is doing."
President Liam and Henry Logan, the Commander, both stared speechlessly for a moment, exchanging glances before Henry broke the silence.
"So you mean, this Jayden man is your ex-boyfriend?" Henry asked.
"Yes," Sofia responded boldly.
"Is that why you want to go against him? Against your own country?" Henry asked again.
Sofia flinched at that, but then she breathed a sigh and looked straight into his eyes.
"He... He slept with my mother. He... He... He charmed her somehow, and I want to make him pay. He made me do many things that I would never get over in my entire life. I want to make him cry and beg..."
’Just the way I begged him to come back to me and he didn’t,’ she said inwardly, and the two men sitting before her didn’t hear a word of that.
Even after what she said, there was no trace of belief in their eyes. Sofia noticed it, and she couldn’t help but exhale roughly in frustration.
There were quite a lot of thoughts in her mind, knowing that the longer she stayed here, the more things would get worse, and the more her quest to bring Jayden and his empire to the ground would die.
Sofia was already getting frustrated, and even at that, President Liam still looked her in the face and said...
"I still don’t believe you."
"Then what do you believe!" Sofia asked in anger and frustration.
"I believe you are with them. I believe you are a spy or an agent sent to destroy us from the inside and then give them the chance to finish us right after. I’m not stupid, Miss Sofia. I am the President of Icelandia, and that means more."
"Take her away!" President Liam ordered, as he watched Sofia get dragged out of the room and back into her cell.
In a moment, only the Commander of the station and President Liam were left in the room.
"What do you think?" Liam asked after a long sigh.
"Well, if I’m to speak, Mister President, I would express my observation of the close sincerity in her tone. Maybe we can give her a test and find out if she is telling the truth," Commander Henry stated.
President Liam nodded and stood up. "I will see to that."
With that bent response, he walked out of the room, the slight confusion barely spotted on his face.

"I have got a skin similar to seventy percent of Icelandians. Didn’t take much stress to make, and I think I’m good," Charlotte said.
She was already getting prepared to go on her mission to find the passcode and hack the Icelandian Satellite System.
She was surrounded by the whole family as she gave them assurance that she would be safe, and in a moment, Jayden stepped forward.
"You have the mask too, right?" he asked.
"That’s right. That will be needed when I get there. For now, I will need to be visible so I can get to the plane. I have the Icelandian ID crafted, so real that they wouldn’t notice it’s fake," she gave a wry smile.
"Good," Jayden nodded with a smile.
"I have to go now... I’ll be back," Charlotte said as she attempted to leave.
But then Jayden drew her back and kissed her on the lips.
"Be safe," he muttered.
With a nod, Charlotte walked out.
They all knew what she was up for. They all knew it could be life and death.
But at that point, they could only root for her to get it done without getting caught.
She had to.
