CHAPTER 174: DEACTIVATING ALL NETWORKS!

The fast echoing footsteps in the alleyway quickened as they progressed towards the cell room. All that could be sensed with these hurried footsteps was pure anger... Rage.

Sofia, sitting while leaning against the wall, wasn’t moved by the strange approach today, as her mind was far away from where she was.

It was until the figure with the hurried footsteps reached the cell that she raised her head, only to see a gun pointed towards her.

Standing right at the other side of the cell was President Liam Thompson, staring death at her with a boiling face.

"You are going to kill me? Fine then, just pull the trigger and get it over with. At least it’s better than being stuck here," Sofia said, her voice calm as she appeared not to be moved by the scary stance of the middle-aged man.

"Tell me, how did you have the information about how to access the Defence Unit?" Liam asked, his voice harsh and stern.

"What?"

"Don’t shit with me, or I won’t hesitate to blow your brains out and feed your body to my vultures!" President Liam shouted.

"Oh, you’ve got vultures? Cool, I like that," Sofia nodded.

TARR!

At that point, a strike of a bullet hit the wall a few inches from her, and Sofia reacted with the greatest shock of her life.

She suddenly began to gasp for air, as she widened her eyes towards him.

"Oh, I see. You don’t want to die, right? Now answer the damned question. I won’t miss the second shot, trust me," Liam said.

"I... I... I have no idea what you are talking about. I swear," Sofia replied, shivering as she feared he would pull the trigger this time.

But he didn’t.

"This isn’t a joke, lady. You don’t want to get on the bad side of me to decide the way you die. You tell me how they accessed our Defence Unit, and I will spare your life," President Liam said, his voice sounding like he was already becoming impatient.

However, the truth he didn’t know was that Sofia really didn’t know how they accessed the Icelandian Defence Unit, but at this point, it was up to her to save herself, or she would die there for nothing.

It would clearly be a shame for her to come back to make an alliance with the Icelandians, only to get killed after being captured by them for weeks.

"It must be one of the ladies with him, the President of Nortasia, Jayden Cole. I suspect the tech expert, Lady Byta, her brains are out of this world. She would have figured out how to access the satellite system device, and would only have needed the passcode to hack the system," Sofia said.

"How?" Liam asked.

"I don’t know... I... I was not with the tech team when I was in Dominion Island," Sofia responded.

"No, you will have to make me believe you by telling me something usable. We need to get it back before she gains full control over our satellite system, or we are..."

President Liam paused and sighed, not wanting to let the ugly words out.

"I know what would happen. You should have trusted me. I came here to help right before they made their moves, but you refused to believe what I said... Now..."

"Enough!" President Liam suddenly shut her up.

"You don’t seem like someone worth trusting. And I would never trust a Nortasian," President Liam said as he began to walk away.

"Well, we will see about that," Sofia said, as she watched him walk away.

It was weird that he had come alone today, but Sofia understood that he had been really troubled by what happened.

Even she herself felt worried about her plans, because successfully hacking the Icelandian Satellite System would only mean that the Nortasians had equal probability of winning the war over the Icelandians, or even gaining the upper hand.

That way, she would completely fail.

She didn’t want that to happen, so she had to find a way to get herself out of there.

Literally, she just wanted President Liam to get into his right senses and believe her.

That was the only way.

---

Charlotte settled in her office, with Temi, Becky, and Paula watching closely behind her.

Her new passcode was 555666, but she didn’t show it to anyone. She decided to keep it to herself at that point, so it wouldn’t result in any issues.

It was an important keep.

Logging in to the system, the screen clearly opened just the way she had seen it back in the access room.

{Icelandian Satellite Access}

They all cheered happily, and Charlotte went straight to the satellite networks stored under the account.

{Ice-Sat-01 - Active}

{Ice-Sat-02 - Active}

{Ice-Sat-03 - Active}

She gave a wry smile.

The first and second satellite networks were for Icelandian technology networks... Literally everything that had to do with technology and mechanics.

The third network was for their nuclear weapons, and their terrorising devices which they used to threaten the world.

Charlotte didn’t hesitate to click on the deactivation icon, and also set a code to access the Ice-Sat-03 just to make sure that it never got accessed by any other person but her.

She gave the screen a long stare and almost had tears rolling down her eyes as she remembered how she almost died trying to get the passcode.

How she almost died without saying goodbye to him, and how it went on to them almost dying together at the riverside.

It could have been a better death than dying alone, for sure, but the best thing was that they never died in the end.

In a moment, her mind switched to the attacks that had happened in Nortasia, and how the people condemned Jayden’s rule, having no idea the effort they were putting in to make the nation great.

The curses, the trolls, the huge bombardment of condemning write-ups, and of course, the resignation of most of the governors, which literally told the people that the governors weren’t even in support of the President’s decisions which they termed "stupid."

With the anger boiling in her, she tapped the deactivation icon of the other two satellite networks, stunning the rest of the ladies behind her.

"Charlotte, what did you..."

"It’s just the beginning," Charlotte said, as she stepped up and walked out, her rage noticed.
