CHAPTER 177: ROYCE’S CURIOUSITY

"The Shield is breaking... We might be up for the mission soon. One of the Commanders told me about the conflict on Earth. Just another reason why we want to cleanse the land. War, hatred, lack of contentment. That is what is destroying humanity in silence."

"Once we arrive there, we wouldn’t waste any more time and just finish it off. The earlier the better, before it spoils beyond repair."

Royce and Kael were having a meeting with the Grandmaster, and were being informed about the war on Earth.

After not speaking in detail, Royce decided to ask to know what conflict it was, and which countries were fighting against each other.

His mind quickly grasped the nations of the Alliance and the Independent Society. He thought perhaps the war that the world had been praying not to experience had finally come.

The war between the nations of the Alliance and the Independent Society would surely leave the world in ruins due to the unforgiving nuclear weapons owned by the two groups.

Kael, whose father was once the ruler of a country, didn’t even bother to ask, and Royce voiced out anyway.

"The conflicts... Which countries are going against each other?" Royce asked with an almost casual tone, trying to show that he didn’t really care but was only demanding knowledge.

However...

"Do you really want to know? I mean, is it necessary?" The Grandmaster asked with a glare.

Royce suddenly flinched, as he shook his head at once.

"Good. It doesn’t matter to know who the war is against. All we know is that we would strike them hard when the time comes, and would spare no one. They have to be eliminated, cleaned, and Earth has to be revived," the Grandmaster added.

"Yes, Grandmaster," Kael quickly bowed in response, diligent as always.

But Royce... He hesitated for a moment before doing the same, and they could all sense that something wasn’t right with him.

"Yes, Grandmaster," he said before joining Kael in stepping out of the room.

The Grandmaster didn’t care about how he was acting after all. All he knew was that Royce wasn’t okay with Kael receiving all the love from the people, which he had nothing to do about.

He also knew that Royce would have nothing to do about it, and would have to accept that fact because if he tried something stupid, he’d definitely be killed.

What he wanted from Royce Nexuson at that point was for him to stay diligent and make the impression in the mission on Earth. He figured that that was the only way he would be getting his love back from the people, and was hopeful that Royce realized.

Meanwhile, when Royce stepped out of the Grandmaster’s home, he rushed past Kael and headed somewhere else.

The home of Commander Cross, the latest man who visited Earth.

Commander Cross was one of the top Commanders in Nexus, alongside the likes of the dead Commander Dale who brought Royce to the planet.

Royce still hadn’t forgotten him even after his death, remembering how he saved him from starving to death, and how he gave him a good life for many months before they arrived at Nexus.

When he thought it was over for him, and was already giving up, Dale was there...

He remembered how he died. How he spoke against getting him injected by the Serum.

He hadn’t known what damage it could cause yet, but he knew Dale cared so much to have objected against the Grandmaster himself...

And he lost his life for it... For him.

The robot guards scanned him the moment he approached the building...

"Chosen Royce Nexuson... Welcome to the home of Grand Commander Eman Cross. Please await security and mind check..." The robotic voice stated.

"Security check completed. Mind check completed. No bad intention detected. You are good to go, Chosen One."

Royce entered with a nod, as the large door opened.

There, Commander Cross approached with a glass of wine, a wide smile on his face.

"Chosen One, how have I earned myself an esteemed visit today?" He asked.

"You earned it because I need to get some answers from you. Just a few," Royce replied.

"Oh, I’m done for it, my Lord," he said. "Please come have a seat."

They settled in the living room and began the conversation. Commander Cross surely didn’t know what they were to talk about.

He was only waiting for Royce to begin, and his face was curious as well.

"I heard you went on a check on Earth. Heard there is a growing conflict there as well. Do you mind telling me more about it?" Royce asked.

Commander Cross furrowed his brows, but then noticed the strong demanding face from him and decided to speak.

"All right..."

Commander Cross sighed.

"Icelandia is under threat after Nortasia hacked their satellite systems. They are about to start a war that might affect several nations, and it is good news for us," Commander Cross smiled.

"You mean Nortasia?" Royce asked, confused.

"Yes, Nortasia. A weak country now rising through the ranks on Earth. Ruled by a very young man with several ladies by his side," Commander Cross nodded.

Royce suddenly grasped the idea at once.

Nortasia. A young ruler. A handful of women by his side.

That was definitely Jayden, his greatest rival back in the university, and the son of Emerson Cole whom his father killed.

Royce was stunned at how Jayden had made Nortasia so strong and confident to challenge them to war... As if that wasn’t enough, they went further to hack the Icelandian Satellite System, which was a big way to show that they could beat them.

"That is... Amazing," Royce smiled.

"Yes, my Lord. And like I said, it’s good news for us, because when they are done killing themselves..."

Commander Cross wasn’t done before Royce interrupted him at once.

"Can you tell me more?" Royce suddenly asked.

"Huh???" Commander Cross widened his eyes. "You were injected with the serum... You aren’t supposed to be..."

Commander Cross suddenly paused and sighed.

But in his thoughts... He wondered why Royce was so interested in the things of Earth after being injected by the Serum.

He was stunned and confused.

But he still had to respect the Chosen One.

"They didn’t just hack the Satellite System, but also built the scariest defence system Earth has ever seen. Icelandia sent six missiles towards Nortasia, but they redirected them back to Icelandia."

Hearing this, Royce grasped more...

Jayden had transformed Nortasia.
