CHAPTER 42: BACKGROUND, PLAN

"My family can be considered to be one of the powerhouses within the eastern province. I believe that you have heard of Morgan Enterprises that originates from Brenton city?" Kate responded before she asked.

The old couple was shocked upon hearing her words. She was actually from the Morgan family?

It could be said, while this Morgan family was not very popular within this city, but, they had seen news about it.

According to the news, it was clear that the Morgan family was a giant within the Eastern province, with its net worth valued in billions!

Who would have expected that a lady from such a big family would come to such a small city like Drenn?

Additionally, she was so concerned about them, that she wanted to buy out the orphanage, to make sure that the children had a good life.

For a moment, the old couple was quite excited, thinking about the good future for the children.

But then again, John thought of something else. This young lady was obviously from a big city, Brenton.

Brenton city could be considered to be the capital of the Eastern province. It was where the giants within the eastern province could be found.

It was clear, she might be here, but she would definitely go back. So, what would happen after she went back?

Her family might be powerful, but, how influential would they be within this city? After all, they did not have any business within this city.

Additionally, while being away, she could not handle matters here, and the children might be exploited without her knowledge.

And, with her coming from a big city, John believed that there was a possibility that she might end up forgetting about the presence of the orphanage after a while.

This made him feel complicated emotions in his heart. He was not sure on what to do now.

But after thinking for a while, he thought, even if the protection was going to last for a little while, it was better.

At least, the children would be able to enjoy life for quite a while, even if this good life would be taken away after some time.

After taking a deep breath, John let out a deep breath before he said, "Okay. I agree."

Kate nodded, as she had already been anticipating this. She believed, since the elderly couple cared about the children, if she could offer good conditions for the children, they would not refuse.

Additionally, it was not as if this was a business. The elderly could not gain any material benefit from running the orphanage.

They would have to spend the monthly pensions that they received, in order to take care of the children.

As for the issue of being lonely, that was not a concern. After all, while Kate was acquiring the orphanage, the old couple would continue being the ones in charge.

On the other side, Michael entered into the dormitory. The moment that he did, he realized, there was quite a number of children present.

At the moment, some were watching the events that were happening outside through the windows.

Several children were hugging each other, with tears on their faces. It was clear, they were afraid of the gangsters that were previously outside.

"Brother Mike!" As soon as Michael entered into the dormitory, someone noticed him and called out his name.

Michael looked over, realizing that the person who had called him was a young boy with curly brown hair, at the age of about 12 years.

Michael could remember this kid, he had found him in the orphanage during the time that he joined.

And, among all the children within the orphanage, it could be said that this kid was the closest to him.

"How is it, Victor? Are you guys okay?" Michael asked as he hugged Victor, who had rushed towards him.

"Yeah. As soon as those guys came, grandpa John and grandma Rebecca asked us to come into the dormitory and lock the doors." Victor responded.

Michael was slightly relieved upon hearing that. At least, those guys did not touch the children. Otherwise, Michael would not forgive them easily.

The other children also gathered around Michael, as if they had found a pillar of support.

Currently, within the dormitory, Michael was the oldest. Among the kids within the dormitory, the oldest among them was only 13 years old.

Usually, if a kid reached at the age of 15 or 16, they would be taken away by Dante and his gangsters.

While others with better physiques would be forced to join the gang, those who did not meet the requirements would be used as labor.

They would be servers in bars, or would work as delivery boys for the gangsters.

On the other hand, the girls would obviously be judged according to their appearances. Those with better appearances would be sold off to work as prostitutes.

As for the others with slightly better appearances, they would be forced to work in strip clubs.

For the rest of the girls, they would be forced to do the hard labor, and all the dirty work that would be available, would be given to them.

The people within this orphanage were having it tough. And it could be said, the fate of the boys within the orphanage was way better as compared to that of the girls.

But, it was finally going to come to an end. Michael had the intention of dealing with Dante, and apart from that, he had another idea.

He understood, as long as the orphanage continued existing here, it was inevitable that some people would beat tempted.

So, even if he dealt with the shadow assembly gang, there would be another gang that would come looking for the orphanage to exploit them.

Considering that Michael was having the intention of leaving the city, it was impossible for him to always watch over everyone here.

For that reason, he thought, it might be a good idea to take them out of this city and bring them along.

Even if they could not go to the same city as him, they might find another city, one that did not have a high crime rate like Drenn city.

Michael remained within the dormitory, trying to calm the children down. And a little while later, he was called by John, as there was something important that he was needed for.

"Okay, you guys stay here. Be obedient, and don’t try causing trouble. I need to deal with something first, after that, I will make sure that you guys have a good life." Michael stated.

After that, he left the dormitory, and headed to the other building.

As soon as he entered into the office, which was quite small, with only a desk, a wooden chair behind it, an old wooden shelf with several old books, and a bench, he saw two people inside.

Currently, Kate was standing in the office, with John sitting behind the desk. As for Rebecca, she was not within the office, busy with something somewhere else.

When Michael entered, the two people within the office looked over.

Michael was just about to ask what it was that they wanted him to do when suddenly, Kate approached him.

"I’m sorry about before." Kate suddenly apologized, with a sincere expression on her face.

Michael was momentarily stunned, not understanding what Kate was implying. But in the next moment, he understood what she was speaking about.

"There is no need to worry about that." Michael responded. Though, he was slightly confused, wondering why she apologized.

But after thinking about it, he realized, maybe John had already told him about his past. Maybe this was the reason why she decided to apologize.

Seeing that Michael did not seem to care about the past incident, Kate felt slightly relieved.

"It seems that the two of you have met before?" John asked, looking at them with a confused expression on his face.

"Yeah, we have met a few times before." Philip responded, though he did not mention anything about being arrested.

Kate, who was about to respond, could only nod in agreement after Michael said those words. After all, it was true, they had met twice already, and this was the third time.

"Okay, then that’s good. Michael, the reason why I asked you to come over is because I have decided to sell the orphanage to this young lady here." John nodded before speaking.

Michael was dumbfounded upon hearing that. He could not help but look at Kate, wondering what she was playing at.

From his encounters with Kate, it seemed that this lady kind of hated gangsters. But, what was the reason for her to buy the orphanage?

Just because she hated the gangsters, that did not imply that she would be able to deal with them, right?

Facing Michael’s gaze, Kate did not shy away. Instead, she said, "I have a special background. As long as some people within the city know that this orphanage is under me, they will not cause trouble for the people here."

Michael raised his brows slightly upon hearing that. Could it be that she was from some big background?

Regardless, Michael shook his head and said, "I already have another plan. I would lik-"

Bang!

Michael wanted to explain what he had in mind when suddenly, he was interrupted by a loud banging sound originating from the gate, followed by a loud shout.
