CHAPTER 43: ENCOUNTER WITH THE SMILING DEMON

Without even needing to think about it, Michael could clearly tell who it was that had arrived.

He stood tall at 197 centimeters, his lean frame wrapped in a dark leather jacket that hung open over a plain black tee.

His grey eyes held a scheming glint, gleaming beneath the messy fringe of his purple-dyed hair.

A scorpion tattoo curled along the left side of his neck, its stinger pointing upward, could be seen even while looking at him from the front.

With his hands buried casually in his trouser pockets and a faint smirk tugging at his lips, he looked at the two youngsters that had appeared in front of him playfully.

This was none other than the second in command of the shadow assembly gang, Steve. He was well known as the smiling demon of the underworld.

Michael was actually quite surprised that this guy was the one who came over. Initially, he believed that Dante was the one that would come as soon as he heard about him being here.

After all, during the previous encounter, Michael had kind of humiliated Dante. And from what he knew about Dante, that guy would definitely not let go of a chance of dealing with him.

"Kid, should I say that you are arrogant or brave?" Steve spoke while looking at Michael, with his head twisted to the left.

Before Michael could say anything, he continued, "You left, without telling anyone. Then, you came back, not coming to ask for forgiveness for your crime, instead, you beat up my men.

And to make matters worse, you actually continued staying here, waiting for me to come over. You really have got quite some guts.

Tell me, has someone been lying to you about the difference between confidence and ignorance during the time that you have been away?"

At the same time as he was speaking to Michael, he looked at Kate, who was standing next to Michael with a lecherous gaze.

He did not even try to hide his blatant lust for her beauty, as he even licked his lips while gazing at her.

During the raid, she was the one who arrested this kid. But somehow, it seems that the two of them ended up together. Maybe she was the one who convinced him to quit." A gangster with a bald head that had a scar on it spoke while looking at Steve.

"Who the f*ck told you to speak when I am speaking? Have I given you the permission to speak?" Steve questioned, his previously smiling face turning cold.

At the same time as he was asking the question, he kicked the person who had spoken, making them plop onto the ground on their butt.

Ignoring the pained expression on the guy’s face, Steve rubbed his chin and said, "Considering that the information that you have given seems to be of some value, I will not kill you. But if there is the next time, you will wish for death, but I will not grant you."

Steve’s words sent shivers running down the spines of every gangster around.

They understood Steve all too well. So, none of them really dared to cross his path.

As for the gangster who had just spoken, he was quite excited about finding the police officer who had been among those who had arrested them.

He ended up spending a sleepless night in the police cell, which was something that he was always frustrated about. So, seeing Kate, he thought that he finally had a chance of getting his revenge.

But in the end, he forgot about the presence of Steve, someone who never did things with logic.

"Are you done blabbering about? Better scram from here and wait for me, I will come looking for you myself. Right now, I have something important to deal with first." At this moment, Michael suddenly spoke.
