CHAPTER 480: CHAPTER 480 - DISAPPEARING ACT (PART 2)

The couple looked at each and held hands tightly. They nodded at each other as if deciding on something that was life or death for the both of them. Carolina looked at her son again and asked, "You will only consider marriage if it was with her, correct?"

Caius looked at her mother and nodded once firmly. Maximilian then added, "Then you have a lot of work to do, son. She greeted us earlier and she does not have any hint of joy when she saw us. If a woman likes a man, she would want the man’s parents to have a positive image of her so she would show extra care on how she treats them and how she presents herself to them. She has zero care as I see it."

Caius glared at his father but said nothing. Carolina elbowed her husband angrily on the rib that made the old man gasp in pain. Carolina then looked at her husband with a sweet smile on her face and added, "Shut up if you won’t say anything helpful. It was not like I liked you at the start. I hated breathing the same air as you when we first met, you know? You think a lot has changed since then?"

Maximilian’s face paled instantly and he forgot the pain in his ribs as he stuttered in response, "Wife... I... I’m sorry I was... I’m wrong. Please. You are the only woman I want. Don’t be angry anymore."

Caius looked at both his parents, rolled his eyes and sighed. He thought that being hated by ones’ future wife at the start must run in the family because he was sure Luna hated him now that he brought his parents in to the mix. He then suddenly remembered that there was no news from his aides about his future wife’s whereabouts and activities for more than an hour now. The last one was when she came out to officially greet his parents as a royal envoy by the military camp gate early this morning.

He hurriedly stood up and went out of his tent which startled his parents a bit. He started calling for his aides to ask for any updates about his woman. The aides immediately replied that Luna immediately went back to her wagon after greeting the Astrantia master and madam. She has not been seen outside after that.

For some reason, he felt nervous of her silence and the fact that she is staying inside instead of working with one of the camp facilities. He ran towards her wagon, just wanting to see if it was still there to calm his mind. Upon seeing it was there, he sighed in relief. He was too worried that he did not even notice that the wagon did not look as solid as before. Surely, it looked like the outside of the wagon but it seems to be hollow inside and translucent in certain areas because it was only an illusion.

Back in the forest, a certain woman was enjoying her little multitasking life as she strolled around the forest in a relaxed manner, harvesting plants here and there, hunting animals that she encountered and them mapping the area she has stepped into. It was refreshing, quiet, chill but still very productive. It has been a long time she was able to spend her time alone in a leisurely manner in nature.

As she was enjoying herself, she has already filled about 2 of the mid capacity storage rings that she has on hand. This was the same type of ring that he gave the mini-team leaders of the mission before and also the one that Caius received from her.

It may be just a ring but she called it mid for a reason. She named it after the usual capacity of warehouses back in her world. This mid capacity ring is as big as a mid capacity warehouse inside which is about 100,000 square feet.

She filled the first one with wooden logs, firewood, dried twigs and leaves that can be used as fuel. She is currently filling the second one with food and medicinal items like wild fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, root crops and edible mushrooms. She just fished out the third ring to place freshly hunted game inside it and maybe, she will drop by a nearby body of water to catch some fish in a bit.

After a few hours, realizing that a considerable amount of time has passed, she checked to confirm it and it seems that it has indeed been about 4 hours. She was currently grilling some wild boar meat and some wild vegetables while sipping some freshly squeezed juice. She was enjoying the wind blowing on her face and listening to the sound of flowing water from the river. She couldn’t help but utter a satisfied sigh at this relaxing time.

Back in the military camp, Caius has started to wonder when Luna will decide to leave her wagon. It was past lunch time but she does not seem to have any intention to eat at the dining hall. He simply thought that she must be avoiding him and his parents so she may have opted to eat some snacks inside her wagon instead.

He ignored it, went about his day, touring his parents around and doing his shift at the construction site near the perimeter wall. He excitedly went to the dining hall thinking that he would finally see Luna since she never misses dinner but he could never be more wrong. There wasn’t a whiff or a shadow of the woman anywhere in the camp. This started to make him feel not just nervousness but scared too.

She called for his aide to check at the gates if there was anybody who left anytime today for whatever any reason. The head guard had to call in everyone who was on gate duty throughout the day. As he feared, the guard who was on duty during the morning confirmed that a man dressed as a soldier left the gates between 9 to 10 in the morning and the said man has not returned up until now.

After confirming this, he ran as fast as he could to General Delphis’ tent to confirm if Luna advised him of any missions outside the camp. General Delphis looked at him in confusion then nodded his head that Luna advised that she will be foraging for resources in the forest right after she greeted Caius’ parents in the morning.
