CHAPTER 483: CHAPTER 483 - THE ONE LEFT BEHIND

Back at the northern military camp, after Caius passed out, his parents and his aides hurriedly carried him to the military hospital for first aid. The sudden commotion also got the attention of Hugo and Andreas as they immediately ran to the area of the trading post. The crowd couldn’t help but panic as they always saw Caius as someone who was strong and unfazed but now he looked pale, as if his breath can stop anytime. This is also the second time within just a few weeks that he was brought to the hospital unconscious so they can’t help but feel worried for the guy.

It took a few hours before Caius regained his consciousness. Fortunately, there were no lasting damages in his body and he didn’t get any bruises when he fell to the ground abruptly earlier. Thankfully, his body was strong enough due to the years of military training.

Upon opening his eyes, Caius just blankly stared at the ceiling. Around his hospital bed, his parents, his three aides and Hugo has been waiting all this time. When they saw him open his eyes, they hurriedly asked him if he was alright but they did not get any response no matter how many times they repeated their questions.

One of the aides hurriedly called for a doctor to check on him. They were worried that he may have bumped his head hard or that he started to have hearing issues since he has not responded to anybody since he woke up. When the doctor checked on him, he did not find anything wrong in Caius’ body and told the worried people that he may just be in shock so he refused to respond.

For the next day or two, Caius was obedient to all arrangements at the hospital. He was actually too obedient that it made his parents worry even more. He did not say anything but simply ate whatever food was given to him, took all the medicine that was prescribed for him and just laid on the hospital bed, unmoving throughout the days he stayed there. He closed his eyes once in a while but everybody knew that he barely slept. He just wants people to think that he was doing fine.

After the second day of staying in the hospital, since he had no complications and was basically healthy, the military doctor had no choice but to discharge him. He went back obediently to his tent and read through documents that needed his approval as they were backlogged after he got hospitalized. He was functioning at work as usual except that he looked dazed and haven’t spoken once. He was acting more like an unfeeling robot that was only taught to be useful and efficient in completing assigned tasks.

On the third day after his discharge from the hospital, Caius was back at the hospital with a very high fever. For the first time in three days, everyone could hear his hoarse and pained voice through his nightmares and things that he was murmuring about when he was having convulsions. His parents saw their only child crying for the first time since he became a teenager and it broke their hearts. They always knew that he was only in denial but he was extremely heartbroken when Luna suddenly left with just a generic note for everybody in the camp.

They waited patiently all this time for Caius to tell them what he wanted to do next. They wanted to know if he will try to run after her but he woke up and never spoke. It was as if he was grieving silentl and they honestly did not know how to help him. He never responded to what they said or asked him as if he clamed up. He returned to the cold, unfeeling and indifferent man he was when he first started in the military.

When Caius woke up after his fever went down, he looked at his parents and tears fell down from his eyes as he kept murmuring, "She left me" over and over. The couple could only hug him and tap his back to calm him down. His quiet cries lasted for almost half an hour as he poured out all of his pent up sadness, disappointment, frustration, hurt and regret with his tears.

After he calmed down, his mother asked, "Son, what are your plans from here on forward? Are you just going to give up just because she left the camp."

Caius chuckled coldly and replied, "I think that I might sound crazy but I am thinking that she simply left because her volunteer hours are over and she has to go back to the academe before the semester ends. It is not that she disliked me or anything. I would not think that way unless she tells me she hates me to my face. I will never give up on my resonant pair even if I die."

Caius’ parents assured him that he will help him out in whatever plans and steps that he wanted to take to make it happen. He is their only child so who else will back him up in this life. At least now, he finally thought about getting married to someone. They were starting to feel hopeless that their son just doesn’t like women at all.

Since the couple have been staying in the camp for almost a week now, they had no choice but to bid their goodbyes to their son. They have several business, a huge household and lots of employees that they have to manage back in Hoffen City. They reminded their son several times to write to them regularly to let them know how he is doing or if their is anything that he needed.

Caius sent his parents off at the gates with a smile on his face to make sure that they won’t worry about him. When the carriage was already too far to be seen, he turned around and his face totally changed with a cold smile on his face.
