CHAPTER 580: CHAPTER 580 - THE NEXT SET OF TWINS ARE HERE!
After my brief conversation with Laerad, the guy teleported away after saying "Hmpf!" I just chuckled and shook my head at him, chanting in my head in a sing-songy way "Be careful what you wish for because you might just get it..."
It has only been two nights since I started staying at Vaelion’s to prepare him for what’s to come anytime at this point. As the Soleia is about to rise in the sky, I was woken up by my husband’s pained sobs and my clothes slowly being drenched by his tears while he was shivering like a scared little animal.
My eyes widened and I sat up abruptly from the bed. I immediately realized what was happening this time even if I was woken up with a start. My mind was a little more alert compared to last time with Makisig.
I sent an urgent request for help via telepathic message once more to my father and father-in-law. While doing so, I started supplying mana into Vaelion’s abdomen to calm the children and ease his pain.
I stared at his teary eyes that were looking at me as if begging me to stop the pain. Oh my gosh. That look broke my heart.
I started talking to Vaelion gently to calm down and I wiped his tears away. He weakly nodded his head as the mana gradually helped in easing the pain. He grabbed on to my clothes as if I was his only lifeline.
Vaelion just stared at me while his shivering subsided gradually and his face became less pale from the pain. I gave him a small smile then gave him a quick smack on the lips which successfully distracted him.
Just like in the birth a few days ago, my father, mother and father-in-law appeared in Tadhana as quick as they could. It did not even take them five minutes. It looked like my father made it a point to fetch Vaelion’s father on the way.
I greeted my helpers with a nod but I never stopped supplying mana to Velion since that is the only way I can ease his pain. Vaelion’s father upon seeing his son laying on the bed and drenched in sweat ran towards him and busily checked on his body while asking repeatedly if he was in pain anywhere.
Unlike giants, elves are naturally blessed by mana thus their bodies are used to having huge amounts of mana. With the destruction of the previous world tree realm though, that mana gradually decreased and weakened their bodies, slowed down their regeneration and made them susceptible to pain.
My father-in-law’s worried face looked at me and then he suddenly kneeled on the ground towards me. He shakily begged for me to save Vaelion and he said he knew it was too much to ask since I hated elves and heralds. He begged for me to save his son’s and his grandchildren’s lives and offered that he would die in their places if needed.
I asked my father-in-law to stand up and assured him that Vaelion is my husband and the babies are also my children so nothing bad would happen to them. I told him that he was summoned to simply help in the birthing process.
His eyes shook as if he was about to cry but he nodded confidently and promised that he would do his best. He stood up and ran to Vaelion’s side, wiping his sweat and holding his hand. I saw a light green glow coming from his palm as he started providing support to his son.
My parents also started to help out as all of us supplied mana to Vaelion. I noticed how the children were suctioning the mana like a hungry whirlpool.
My father looked at me and warned me that it may take some time for the children to be born this time due to the mana requirements for elves. He then started telling me that it has always been the hardest to deliver children from elves, heralds, fairies and dragons because of this.
I looked at my father with an inquisitive look but my father-in-law was the one who answered instead. He told me that it has always been a life for another life in these births. With the mana almost non-existent in the human realm, elven fathers had to use their own lifespan to give birth but sometimes it still wasn’t enough so both father and child perishes in the end.
My father-in-law stared into his son, his brows furrowed as if he was confused about something. I believe that I have an idea what he was confused about. He must be wondering why Vaelion was too calm and wasn’t squirming and screaming in pain when the children are about to come out. He looked at the hand I placed on Vaelion’s abdomen and he looked up to me in realization.
I smiled at him and told him that we should start bringing out the children soon. He nodded absent-mindedly while telling us how the birth comes about for elves. It was similar with giant’s but the mana requirement was huge. If I was some ordinary mystique, I would only be watching helplessly as Vaelion and children die.
I started supplying mana constantly to the children since I’m confident that I can provide no matter how much it was. During the process, something unthinkable happened as Iosef and Ianthe appeared in the room where I was. The twins with Makisig also started fussing and he didn’t have a choice but to bring them in as well.
As if a miracle came about, the mana requirement stabilized as if the children are helping me out. Within a short span of three minutes, my twin baby elves were born.
My parents and in-law quickly attended to the babies while I tended to Vaelion who looked quite pale and weak. I cleaned him up, changed the bed sheets and blankets then laid him back on the bed. Not long after that, Vaelion fell asleep.
